The crowd was buzzing in excitement. Shouts and cheers were heard from all directions. The air was thick with players and onlookers' anticipation. 

The riders exchanged fierce looks of determination with one another. A few
had wicked smiles on their face.

Hearts beat rapidly, adrenaline surging through their veins.

Quirks were buzzing beneath players' skin, impatiently waiting for the buzzer to let loose.

"Ready?!" Midnight questioned, raising her whip high in the air.

Gon closed his eyes, taking a deep breath in and out. "Let's do this."

"GO!!" The air horn blared and midnight brought her whip down.

Contestants started dashing after one another.

"YOUR DEAD MEAT!!" Bakugo raged, his team running towards The Hunters to get the million point headband.

Gons team dashed away. Todoroki tried to freeze Turn Up the Boom, but they were too quick. Gon was super confused, "HOW AM I DEAD?!!"

Killua couldn't help but laugh.

"What's so funny?" Gon looked down at Killua who was in front of him as the head of the horse.

Killua let out a small laugh with a smile. "Oh, nothing." He then kicked a lightning arc at an approaching team, successfully halting them.

"DON'T IGNORE ME, SHORTY!!" Bakugo screamed, angrily hitting Kirishima's head with his fist as they charged straight at The Hunters.

Killua winced, seeing Kirishima get hit. "Your friends have to put up with that? Yikes."

Kirishima knew this was going to be a long day.

"THESE EXTRAS ARENT MY FRIENDS!!" Bakugo denied and stopped hitting Kirishima.

Killua scoffed, "That's even sadder." Bakugo made a noise of offense. Killua then told his team, "Let's pick up the pace."

Todoroki and Izuku started running faster, dodging quite a few long-range attacks. After a while, a few of the teams chasing them started fighting each other. "I think here would be good," Todoroki said slowing down slightly.

"Are you sure that the plan would work here? We're still being surrounded by a few teams," Izuku sweated nervously and stopped running.

Turn up the boom was quickly approaching from behind. Team Cool pokemon was making their way over to The Hunters after snatching Team Mutants' headband. Momo felt bad for stealing from Tsu and Shoji but knew that she needed to do so if she wanted to move on to the next phase.

Killua kept an eye on the incoming teams as he answered Izuku's question. "Even more reason to do it now,"

Todoroki raised his right foot, readying his next big move which he learned from Elsa. "Everyone stay still."

A chime suddenly played in Gon and Killua's head. Card spotted. The headband worth 750 points.

Gon quickly reached back to Todoroki, shoving his hand in his face. "WAIT!"

Todoroki licked Gon's hand, making him shout in disgust and take the hand off his face. Todoroki then slowly put his right foot down, not doing his big ice move, "Why did you slap me? There are people cornering us in. There's no time to waste."

"Give us a sec." Gon said, pulling his hand back.

"What? No-" Todoroki tried to stop him, but Gon didn't listen.

Gon quickly looked for the glowing headband they needed. He spotted it and tapped Killua's shoulder, pointing to team Stronghold which had Tetestutestu as the leader.

Bakugo was about to launch himself at The Hunters, but Kirishima suddenly stopped running. Jiro and Sero looked at Kiri oddly as they stopped. Kiri then said, "Hey Bakubro, you're kinda missing something." Kirishima looked at Bakugo's forehead. Bakugo felt his head and sure enough. The headband was gone.

"THE HELL?!!" Bakugo screamed, forgetting about the million and started looking for the person who stole their headband.

Todoroki, who was keeping a lookout, saw Team Cool Pokemon approaching and created an ice wall to defend their headband. Hatsume laughed at the wall, "We have another trick up our sleeve, pretty boy." Her team, Cool Pokemon, ran around the ice wall.

Midnight laughed as she watched Bakugo, "Looks like Turn up the Boom is chasing The Phantom troupe!"

"YOU BASTARD!! SURRENDER YOUR POINTS AND MAYBE ILL LET YOU OFF WITH MINOR BURNS!" Bakugo yelled, pissed. Jiro wanted to tell Bakugo that they should be collecting other headbands stealthily, but she knew he wouldn't listen. He was too focused on what was right in front of him. Or whatever made him angry at the moment.

"WHAT!??!" Gon screamed, eyes darting around, looking for Chrollo, Hisoka, Nobunaga... anyone!

The back of Killua's leg was hit by a metal pole which made his knees buckle underneath him. "WHAT THE HECK??" Killua yelled from the floor in shock. 'First the Phantom troupe and now this?!'

Izuku was getting nervous while Todoroki started getting more on edge. Gon was sliding off and was about to hit the floor. Killua had faceplanted and now he and Izuku were both falling too since they were still in the horse formation. "We don't have time for this! Get up!" Todoroki ordered, trying to stop gon from falling on the floor. The half and half boy knew that he was their only defense right now. He knew that Izuku was a power-up type, so he wouldn't be much use when carrying Gon.

Team Cool Pokémon was running to The Hunters once again. Momo was the one that had thrown the metal rod. She was surprised that her plan actually worked.

Izuku looked at the incoming team and started nervously sweating. "Todoroki??" Izuku said looking at Team cool Pokemon. Izuku moved behind Todoroki in hopes that creating distance between the approaching team would help their situation. They were vulnerable right now. Killua was on the floor and Gon was about to fall too.

Todoroki followed Izuku's gaze and froze the team Cool Pokemon's feet to the floor. Shinso just smirked.

Izuku ended up letting go of Killua's shoulder completely. He needed to get Gon into the air and make sure he doesn't touch the floor. Izuku bear-hugged Gon's torso and lifted him up so he wasn't straining Todoroki's arm anymore by sitting on it. Todoroki stood up and rubbed his arm. Killua was still on the floor because of Momo's attack with the metal rod.

An audience member shouted at Midnight after he saw The Hunter Team leave horse formation, "Is that even allowed?! They got out of formation!"

Midnight thought for a moment before answering, "This does not interfere with any of the rules. I never said that they will be penalized if they dispersed."

"What's up with you?" Izuku asked Gon who was still was on edge because Midnight said that the Phantom troupe was here. Izuku watched as gons eyes darted left and right, trying to find someone or something.

"AH!" Killua quickly rolled out of the way, dodging some acid from team Nyoom who was running at them head-on. Dark shadow flew over towards Gon who Izuku was carrying. Killua jumped up in the air, covering his palms in electricity and hit dark shadow with a loud crackle. It roared fearfully and flew back to team Nyoom where Tokoyami was.

Todoroki defended against people attacking from the sides and from behind. He then realized, "Gon, where did your headband go?"

Gon didn't respond and just blankly looked in front of him.

Killua flipped back to his group after dealing with Tokoyami. "Gon! I got the-" Killua noticed his dazed expression and got worried. "Gon?" Killua walked over to the boy, inspecting him then saying, "This must be a quirk."

"Who has a quirk like this?" Izuku asked curiously.

Killua pointed to the purple-haired boy in team Cool Pokémon. Their team had freed themselves from the ice and were now running away. "I bet it's that guy. I saw people carry him in the first phase. They had the same  blank expression as Gon."

"Okay, but what are we going to do now? We don't have any points and time is running out." Todoroki said looking at Killua then at the scoreboard. "It's definitely that guy's quirk. Team Pokémon has over a million."

Killua smirked. "Oh don't worry about points. We're covered." Killua said waving two headbands with high numbers in his face.

Killua looked at Gon again then slapped his face hard enough to leave a red mark.

"Owwww... Why did you do that??" Gon whined. He rubbed his face and was now out of the quirks hold.

"You were under a spell type quirk," Killua answered.

"I think now would be a good time for your move Todoroki. We already have enough points to move on to the next phase," Izuku said, moving Gon to his hip.

Todoroki created one last defensive wall which blocked an emitter attack before looking at Izuku and Gon. 'He's holding him as a mom would do to their kid. The irony.' 

"I agree it's about time." Todoroki nodded, stomping on the floor, creating a giant pillar that lifted them up high in the air. Todoroki mumbled under his breath, "Thank you Elsa for teaching me how to build a castle."

It was safe to say they were out of reach from almost all the contestants considering the fact that they were three stories high.

Once the sculpture was done, Todoroki put a hand on both Gon and Izuku's shoulder, taking a deep breath. "Its ok guys."

"What?" Gon muttered in confusion.

He then looked at the two with sympathy in his eyes. "I have a tragic backstory too."

"Huh?"

"I'm so sorry about what happened to you, Gon. I'll become your new dad. I'll adopt you." Todoroki said, shooting ice shards at the people trying to climb the pillar.

Izuku was speechless. 'What does he mean he has a tragic backstory too? Was he talking to me too or just Gon?'

"Don't worry!" Todoroki assured. "I'll of course adopt Killua as well. No one is going to separate you two again."

"Eh?" Gon muttered. "But-"

"Shhh... Its okay, son. Everything will be alright. I'll do all the paperwork." Todoroki ruffled Gon's hair.

While Todoroki was chatting with Izuku and Gon, Killua was at ground level, running away from several angry teams. "A LITTLE HELP DOWN HERE!?!" Killua screeched at his team as he ran away from a huge stampede. "WHY DO YOU NEED THOSE!? YOU ALREADY HAVE ENOUGH TO CONTINUE!!" Tetesutesu shouted, still upset at Killua for not giving his wallet back.

Todoroki turned to look at Killua and gasped. "My child!"

"What's your guys' team names anyway?!" Killua asked casually while running away. He stole all 3 of the headbands that Monoma collected. One of these headbands included the one from Turn Up the Boom.

As for Tetesutesu's team, he stole 2 since that's what he had. Although they both were high scored points.

"TEAM STRONGHOLD! What else do you want to steal from me!?" Tetesutesu yelled and one of his teammates threw an emoter attack at Killua who skillfully dodged.

"I didn't steal anything besides the headband!!" Killua lied.

"GIVE IT BACK, YOU RAT!!" Monoma screamed.

"If anyone's a rat here it's you!" Killua shouted. "Now tell me your team name!!"

"Team Phantom! You would have known that if you paid attention when everyone was declaring their names!"

"Damn midnight. She just had to say Phantom Troupe instead of team," Killua grumbled, agitated.

Killua dodged a few more explosions and emitter attacks. He then started running around the ice pillar to keep the distance between himself and his attackers. He needed to get these to Gon before time ran out.

"5 seconds left!!" Midnight yelled.

Killua groaned, "She couldn't even give us a one-minute warning?"

Team Turn up the boom blocked Killua from running around the pillar again. Bakugo growled, "Be a nice kid and give me all the points you got." Explosions threateningly popped.

"Oh sure. Let me just give you everything I worked for." Killua sassed back sarcastically.

This irked Bakugo. "JUST GIVE ME THE DAMN POINTS!!" Bakugo yelled and his team started to charge.

Killua smiled, seeing a thread of ice come towards him. "How about nah?" Killua smirked, crossing his arms. A pillar formed beneath him and shot up into the air. He jumped from his own pillar to the one the rest of his team was at and quickly put the headband on Gon's neck.

Bakugo exploded, "GOD DAMN IT!!!!!"

"TIMES UP!!" Midnight yelled, air horns blowing. "Everyone meet up at the front of the arena!"

Todoroki squatted and put his left hand on the floor to melt the ice pillar they were on. Izuku put Gon down. Killua then informed Gon, "Midnight actually meant Team Phantom. The spiders aren't here.

Gon let out a sigh of relief. "That would have been bad."

Killua wanted to nod in agreement but wasn't quite sure if they would do anything. "If they magically appear here like Hisoka did at the island, then they would have little reason to do anything."

"I guess. But what if they found a way here without passing?" Gon referred to them completing part one of Greed Island.

"If they took the time to come here, then they would probably have a goal in mind." Killua said, now in a huge puddle thanks to Todoroki who finished melting the ice pillar. "What reason would they have for being at the sports festival anyway? They usually keep a low profile unless they-" Killua made sure his next words didn't sound too odd in Todoroki's perspective. They don't need people to know that they're personally familiar with more than two villainous types of people. "are raiding another party like they did last year."

Gon was about to ask what party when Killua glared at him. Gon then remembered how they destroyed most of YorkShin during the auction.

"Makes sense," Gons replied.

Izuku figured that they were talking about something from their universe and didn't ask any questions. Their world was much different and they have faced a lot more people in battle than Izuku had. Of course, they would be concerned about old enemies following them here.

The four started walking to the front of the stadium. Midnight was starting to announce the scores.

"In first place, we have Team Cool Pokemon!"

Bakugos jaw dropped. "Dunce face got the million?!? How?!?"

Kaminari smiled and hugged Shinso. "I told you that your quirk is amazing! We got first place cause of you!"

"Don't get ahead of yourself." Shinso pushed him off.

"Nice timing, Shinso. Using Tokoyami's attack as a distraction was a good idea. It gave you an opening to have Gon reply and perform the task."

Shinso shrugged his shoulders. "It was pretty easy. They were all confused and overwhelmed since they were falling and being attacked at the same time."

After Hatsume put away her hover shoes and extra belt of home-made smoke bombs, she added, "You really should have gotten into the hero course. It's too bad that they had robots in the entrance exam instead of people." She patted Shinso's shoulder sympathetically.

"In second place, we have The Hunters!!"

The crowd cheered and whistled for them.

"In third place, we have Team Nyoom!!" Midnight announced. She looked back at the scoreboard and realized something.

"Uh... we don't have a fourth-place team this year." Midnight looked up to Present Mic. "Is this right?" She asked.

Mic refreshed the feed and the same thing popped up. Only three teams had headbands. "I guess so. If there isn't a fourth team that has a headband, then only 3 teams will move on to the next round. Although that does mess with our bracket system..."

"Spoilers much?" Aizawa grumbled in annoyance when the students and audience started curiously talking about the next phase. "The final task will be a series of one on one fights. Because there is a lack of a fourth team, there will be modifications to the bracket."

Midnight then added, "Before that, there will be a few mini-games which will allow the students to show their skills one last time!"

"Seems dumb," Killua mumbled.

"The minigames are not a mandatory task. If you want, you can go rest or plan for the upcoming battles. We will be finishing the minigames in around an hour, so be back in time for that! Everyone is excused for a 10-minute intermission so we can set up the field."Midnight proclaimed.

Bakugo raged, explosions popping from his hands without his command. "Don't worry Bakugo, there's always next year." Kirishima patted his shoulder.

"I fucking know that! It's so frustrating though! We couldn't get the headband back! I focused too much on The Hunters and that stupid extra from 1B." Bakugo clenched his fists in attempts to stop his quirk.

"Isn't there a dozen teams?" Jiro said, surprised that 9 teams lost their headband.

Sero nodded then squinted to see the headbands on Gon's neck. "It looks like Team Hunter has 7 headbands.

Kirishima looked over to Team Nyoom, "Nyoom have 3"

Jiro then stated. "That means that Pikachus team has 2."

"Good job, aux cord. You know basic math." Bakugo laughed at her.

"Thanks." She stabbed him with her earphone jack and surprisingly got minor yelling from Bakugo.

Meanwhile, Todoroki walked over to Killua. "I need to talk to you."

Killua was confused at first, but grateful. "I actually need to talk too."

Todoroki raised a brow. "What about?"

'Maybe he's going to open up to me about his family. Maybe he will tell me what a bad father Kenny is.' Todoroki thought.

Killua hoped that this would work. If it didn't, it would be tough. Killua looked down at the boy's feet.

Todoroki stood there patiently, waiting for Killua to start speaking.

"I need your left shoe," Killua said, meeting his eyes.

Todoroki was speechless.

"I know it sounds like a really weird request, but I really need it." Killua tried to make it less weird. Gon would have no problem with asking this. He would just ask and that would be the end of it. Killua, however, had a sense of embarrassment.

Todoroki looked at his left shoe, then at Killua. "Only if you agree to the next thing I say."

"Sure!" Killua quickly agreed.

"Can I adopt you and Gon?" Todoroki asked Killua since he wasn't there when he asked Gon.

Killua looked more shocked than Todoroki when he asked for his left shoe. "Seriously?"

Todoroki nodded. "I feel bad for what happened to you and Gon. I figured that I could give you a better father-son relationship than what you have right now."

"You realize that we both have dads, right?" Killua sweatdropped.

"Do you want my left shoe with no questions asked, or not?" Todoroki said, pulling his foot back and putting more weight on it, so Killua can't just snatch it without a fight.

"No! I'll take the shoe! You have my agreement for adoption. I'll make gon agree too. You're doing the paperwork though."

"I was planning on that." Todoroki took off his shoe and was about to hand it to Killua when he thought of something else.

"Can we have a father-son picnic next week?" Todoroki asked.

Killua sighed, not knowing what else to say, " Sure."

Killua snatched the boot and walked off.

"Teenagers," Todoroki mumbled and walked off to his lockers.
