Chapter Twelve ~ Aziz
I took in the biggest breath I had ever breathed as if I had been suffocated. Oh wait, I had been suffocated. Shortly after they had taken Malak to Allah knows where, I had managed to warn Mia of my whereabouts from the battered speaker in my ear before they ripped it out. Let's just say they weren't very happy about it. They put a bag with some sort of sleeping drug over my head and beat me up until I got knocked out. Then I woke up here. Speaking of which, where the hell is here? I looked around. I was in some sort of hospital wing. I don't understand. Why would they beat the heck out of me just to mend me up again? I caught movement in the corner of my eye. Wha...
"MALAK!!!" I yelled unexpectedly. I mentally face-palmed myself, desperately hoping that somehow she didn't hear me. But what was I supposed to do? She was covered in blood and I was super worried all the sudden. I checked my arms and legs and to my surprise I wasn't tied down. I stood up quickly, only to sit back down. My head was swimming. I got up slower this time and slowly made my way to Malak's bedside. I moved aside her bloody hospital gown. She was on her stomach so I quickly spotted the twenty stitches carefully tying her skin together. What the hell had they done to her? And why had they saved her afterwards?
"Rex..." Malak coughed out. For the first time ever I heard real fear in her voice. My heart squeezed at the sound of her pain. Oh my Allah, what is wrong with me? I refocused on Malak.
"No, don't worry... It's Aziz." The tension in her muscles relaxed. I knew that she didn't need anything. Any blood was from before and she was all stitched up. I desperately wanted to stay by her side, but I knew my responsibilities as a Muslim man, so I returned to my side of the room.
"Aziz... Where are we?" she asked weakly. I breathed in slowly.
"Some sort of hospital wing."
She tries to move but then moans in pain.
"Don't move too much. I think you were stabbed."
"You don't say!" she coughed, slowly returning to her sarcastic self. A knock on the door made us both stiffen. A strange looking man entered. He looked painstakingly familiar, but I couldn't pin point who he was. He smiled like he was all that. I hated guys like this.
"Well, well, well... Aziz is it? Yes... You work for the UPO don't you?" His voice was smooth and taunting. I wanted to wipe that smirk off his disgusting face. I decided to play dumb.
"The what?"
"Oh you know... The Universal Peace Organization. No need to play games." I just stared at him, hoping that maybe my glance will harm him. Malak sat up and spit at the man's feet. I internally smiled.
"You..." she growled, extreme anger making her voice vibrate. "You. Stabbed. Me." She bit off every word. It was borderline terrifying. I'm so glad she wasn't talking to me.
"Oh, well aren't you the bright girl." He smirked again replying as if he was speaking to a two year old. This guy obviously didn't know who he was dealing with. I spoke up again.
"Can I ask why we were patched up? Not that we don't appreciate it or anything. Just wondering." The man glanced at me in amusement.
"Well, you see. Slaves and spies are no use if they're dead are they?" His smirk was really starting to make my skin crawl... Wait! I know who this is!
"You're the Hunter Operation founder! You sick son of a--"
"Aziz." Malak gave me a silencing look. Her eyes alone shot more than a thousand daggers at the villain. Profanity was unnecessary in her presence.
"Callum Harland. Pleasure to introduce myself." His face twisted into an evil smile. As he was busy giving me evil looks, Malak had managed to get up and get behind Callum. She threw a punch at him, knocking him to the floor.
"YOU." she gritted her teeth, punching him with every word. "KILLED. MY. FAMILY."
"DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY PEOPLE YOU HAVE MURDERED???!!!" Her rage had reached inexplicable levels. Callum, the pig, gave her a bloody smirk.
"Precisely." he growled. Suddenly, the door opened. Rex's green eyes stared at me in hatred.
"I found Hunter." She stated, clearly unsure of how to react to the situation at hand. Malak stood up and as she faced Rex her entire demeanor change. Her face fell into a small frown. Her eyes changed to a sad hazel and her muscles relaxed a bit. Callum stood up, wiping off his beaten face.
"Sir." Rex turned to Callum in respect.
"Ah, Rex dear... Where is this Hunter?" I looked towards the door and a replica of the fake me came in. "So this man isn't an undercover agent?"
"As far as I know, no." Rex replied, bowing her head in front of her 'master'. I looked away in disgust, to think that a human could willingly submit to another human. I saw the look on Malak's face mirrored mine. It was time to get the hell out of here. She took on Rex and I took on Callum. Two seconds and we were out. Fake Hunter followed us out. There was only one question left.
What next?
