Gon, Chika, Leorio and Kurapika have advanced a little closer to the mansion. Meanwhile, Killua is in torture room chained with handcuffs.

Flashback

Six years ago...

"I'm home. Well, no one's around" Killua said.

"Welcome back. How did work go?" Illumi asked.

"Fine"

"Does that mean you dispatched your target?"

"I'm sure you're watching me from a distance" Killua saw Illumi leaning on the post.

"Hmph. Mom is waiting for you inside"

"I don't want to see her"

"Ah" Illumi walks away. Killua looked at the back and saw the girl. The girl smiled and bowed to him and then when the girl lifted her head, he was gone.

Another time, Killua was sitting on a branch of a tree. He wiped the apple and he was going to take a bite but he saw the girl down and the girl bows.

"Did you need something?"

"I wanted to say hello"

"Are you new here?"

"Yes. While you were away, I was hired as an apprentice butler. My name is Canary"

"Here you can have this" Killua said giving her the apple.

"No, thanks. But I appreciate the thought, Killua-sama"

"Don't be so formal. Just call me Killua"

"I cannot do that. I'm a servant. And you're my employer"

"Tsk... That's lame" Killua said and took a bite on the apple. Canary smiles.

"You were using the Shadow Step, right?"

"Shadow step?"

"The technique where you can move silently, so you won't be noticed. It's one of the first assassination techniques we learn in the Zoldyck Family"

"Is that so? I must have learn it while growing up in Meteor City"

"Meteor City?" Canary nodded.

"My hometown. It's a city that has been erased from this world"

"Huh, never heard of it"

"You're allowed to dump anything in Meteor City. That's why many members of the mafia nad Phantom Troupe come from there"

"I'd like to visit sometime"

"When you visit, I can serve as your guide" Canary smiled and Killua throws the apple and jumps down.

"I'l teach you the Rhythm Echo"

"Rhythm Echo?"

"It's the technique that utilizes the Shadow Step" Killua shows it to her.

"You move in a certain rhythm, creating afterimages"

"I see..." then Canary sensed something.

"It appears we have intruders. Many intruders"

"Let Mike handle it"

"The master has ordered that Mike will be restrained today. They wish to test my abilities"

A group of Blacklist Hunters came.

"We'll split up and look for their mansion" then they saw Canary infront of them beside two posts.

"Leave"

"Who are you?" the leader asked.

"There is no need for me to answer that question. You are trespassing on a private property. I cannot allow you to pass without permission"

"Can you stop us? It's obvious that you stand no chance. Well, if you insist, we'l spare your life"

"If you take one step past this line, I shall remove you by force"

"Wha was that? You stand back and watch, boss... We'll take care of this. Let's go!" Seaquant said and other hunters charged.

"Don't mock us!" when they stepped through the line, Canary hit them out with her stick.

"Bitch!"

"Get her!" other hunters charged to her and Canary kept hitting them using her stick. Killua watched her. Canary knocked them all.

"Do you wish to continue?" Canary asked.

"After all that, she haven't even broke a sweat... Are you a member of the Zoldyck Family?" the leader asked.

"Hardly. I am but an  apprentice butler. With your abilities, you're not even a match for the butlers let alone the Zoldyck Family" the leader gets two swords and charges.

"A futile effort..." Canary jumped out and dodged his attacks. She blocked his sword with her stick.

"I'm telling you that it's useless" thenleader jumps back and he released knives under his blades. Canary deflected it. Then the leader charged and Canary blocked his two swords. Then the leader opened his mouth and there are knives. Canary jumped back and she had a blade stuck on her left arm.

"As a Hunter, I cannot allow a little girl like you to defeat me" he said and Canary removed the knife from her arm. The leader laughed.

"Prepare yourself!" Canary did the Rhythm Echo and Killua is suprised.

"What?" the leader is confused.

"DIE!" the leader hit other copies of Canary. Canary punches and kicks him. Then she hits him with her stick.

"I-I'm sorry. PLEASE SPARE MY LIFE" Seaquant said terrified.

"Zebro-san"

"You noticed my presence?" Zebro appeared from the bushes.

"Could you clean this up?"

"Sure, that's my job. Plus, Mike is starving" Mike walked behind Seaquant. He looked around and he got scared.

"H-HELP!" Canary walks out and then while walking she saw Killua by her side.

"You already knew the Rhythm Echo"

"Yes... Forgive me"

"You think you're stronger than I am"

"Absolutely not"

"Really? So I don't have anyone to play with. Will you be my friend, Canary?" Killua asked and Canary sensed Kikyo's presence. She was watching them.

"I apologize, Killua-sama"

"Tsk. Lame..." Killua runs away and Canary stopped.

End of Flashback

"Let's be friends!" Killua thinks about Gon and Chika. He lifts his head.

"Gon... Chika..."

Meanwhile....

"Is she ok?" Gon asked Leorio.

"Yeah. She's only unconscious" Gon stands up and looms to Kikyo.

"WAKE UP!" Milluki hits Killua with a whip.

"Oh. Morning, bro. What time is it?" Killua wakes up and he hits him again.

"Don't be so arrogant, Kil!"

"What? I feel really bad about stabbing you, bro. Sorry, it was the wrong thing I did, bro"

"YOU'RE LYING!" Milluki hits him again hardly. Kilkua spits some blood.

"You can tell?" Milluki is mad then someone calls him.

"Tsk" he gets his phone and answers.

"Hello? Oh, Mama! Uh-huh... Yep, I understand" he ends the call.

"Kil, your friends are near the butler's office. How about it, Kil. If I ask mama, thos three can become..." Killua breaks the chain of his handcuff using his left hand.

"If you so much as touch them, I'll kill you" Killua said with a daring face.

.......

"Forgive me for not introducing myself. I am Killua's mother. This is Kalluto" Kikyo introduces.

"Why can't Killua come and see us?" Gon asked.

"Because he's in solitary confinement"

"Solitary Confinement?" Leorio exclaims.

"Kil stab me and his brother before he ran away from home"

"That is the story he told us" Kurapika said.

"Kil, returned because he regretted his actions. And he voluntarily entered the solitary confinement. So we don't know when he will leave..." then she hears something.

"WHAT?! FATHER! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! DON'T DO ANYTHING HASTY. HE'S FINALLY RETURNED!"

"She's creeping me out..." Chika said in her head.

Someone knocks the door.

"I'm coming in" an old man comes in.

"That's enough, Mil"

"But, Grandpa Zeno... He isn't sorry at all!"

"I know that. Kil, you can go"

"Okay" Killua breaks free using his hands and feet.

"Man, that hurt... Bro, I'm not sorry. But I do feel bad. So I let you slap me around" Killua said and walks away.

"What was that?"

"Kil, Silva wants to see you" Zeno said.

"Dad? Okay" Milluki throws the whip.

"DAMN IT! You always spoil Kil, Grandpa! That's why he's an unpity brat..." Zeno looks to Milluki.

"He's special" later they talk while walking on the hallway.

"Mil, what do you think about Kil's potential?"

"It's incredible, sure. He's probably the most talented Zoldyck in history? Mama seems to think so. I have to agree"

"Considerable praise"

"But he fails as an assassin because he's so moody"

"Moody?"

"A kid who wants to make friends can't lead the Zoldyck Family. In the end, he's just a crybaby. Mentally weak" they stop for a moment.

"That's true..."

"Right? Take me. I'll kill anyone I'm asked to" then they walk.

"Oh, that's right. The bomb I'll use next time is amazing, Grandpa. It's super-compact. I attached it to a femail mosquito and it's triggered to explode when the mosquito sucks the target's blood. But the problem is getting the mosquito to recognize the target..."

"Mil... You're a bright boy but your foolish nature of yours doesn't help" Zeno said.

...............

"Oh, why must father be this way?" then she calms herself.

"Something has come up. So I bid you farewell" Kikyo said and runs away together with Kalluto.

"Please wait!" Gon calls and Kikyo stopped.

"We'll be staying in town for a while. Please let Killua know"

"Very well. I shall tell him" Kikyo leaves. Kalluto stares at them.

"Who are you?" he asked.

"Killua's friends" Gon answers.

"Friends..."

"KALLUTO-CHAN! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! COME OVER HERE!" Kikyo calls him.

"Yes, Mother"

"I probably shouldn't say this but these people creep me out..." Leorio said.

"Same here. No wonder Killua hates them" Chika said.

"And I bet they're lying about Killua's saying that he can't see us. Gon, we can't go back yet. How about we tail them.

"Sure but if we do that, she'll take the blame"

"Oh, right..."

"I will take you to the butlers office" Canary wakes up.

"There is a phone that connects to the mansion. If Zeno-sama is the one who answers...." she holds her head while sitting up.

"Zeno-sama?"

"Killua-sama's grandfather"

.......

Killua went to his father, Silva, in his room. Now he's sitting infront of his father.

"Kil. I heard you made some friends?"

"Yeah"

"What sort of people are they?"

"What sort of....? They're people I enjoy being with"

"I see. How was the exam?"

"It was easy"

"Kil, come over here"

"Huh?"

"I want you to tell more" Killua's eyes widen.

"What did ypu do during the exam? Who did you meet? How did you feel? You can tell me anything..."

"Okay"

.......

Kikyo and Kalluto are running towards the mansion.

"I can't believe this. Father didn't ask me first. Oh, Kil seem to be having fun with Papa. I won't forgive them!" she said angrily.

.......

Killua was sitting beside Silva.

"And guess what Gon said next... He didn't want his legs cut off, but he didn't wanted to surender, either!" they laugh.

"He's so self-centered"

"Sounds like an interesting boy"

"And his opponent pointed a blade on Gon's foehead but Gon still..."

"Kil"

"Huh?"

"Do you want to see your friends?" Killua looks down.

"You don't seem to hold back. Tell me the truth. Thinking back, we've never had a father-son chat before. I was raised by my parents to be an assassin. And I raised you the same way. You and I are different. I didn't realize until you left home" Silva puts his hand on Killua's head.

"You are my son. But you are your own person. Live as you please. If you get tired, you can come home. I'll ask you one more time. Do you want to see your friends?"

"Uh-huh"

"I understand. You are free now. But..." Silva bites his thumb and there's blood.

"Promise me one thing. Never betray your friends. Understand?" Killua nods and bites his thumb.

"I promise. I'll never betray them" they do a blood oath.

"Never" later Killua prepares his things and walks towards the exit.

"Kil" Kikyo calls him.

"It's too late. Those three left. Return to your cell"

"No way. I'm leaving"

"KIL!" Kikyo reaches her hand to him but she stops. Killua gives her a death glare. Kikyo gasps.

"Out of my way" Killua said coldly. Kikyo and Kalluto let him pass.

"Oh, Kil... Your eyes are so cold now..."

Kikyo and Kalluto went to Silva's room.

"What were you thinking? Kil was finally home"

"For now, we let him do what he wants"

"No! What are you saying? This is a critical juncture in the process of determining if he's qualified to lead the family!"

"So you understand what's at sake. Then stop griping and keep your mouth shut!" Silva chuckles.

"He'll come home one day. Because he is my son"

Killua has been set free. But Silca declares that he will return as an assassin. Meanwhile, Gon and his friends head to the butler's office. Will they able to see Killua?
