After 30 minutes of running, they arrived back infront of the fighting ring.

"Thirty minutes of running just to end up where we started" Leorio exclaims.

"We should have taken those stairs down" Killua said.

"SHUT UP! WE ALL AGREED ON THIS ROUTE!" Leorio said when his head gets big. Then they have encountered three trials. After that they catch their breaths.

"Man, I'm covered with dust" Killua said.

"H-hurry up. We only have 2 hours left" Leorio said and later they saw a question on the wall.

"We're supposed to vote whether to open the door? We need to move on so obviously, we want to open the door" they all pressed a button on the stop watch.

O4 X1

"WHO PRESSED THE X BUTTON?!"

"Sorry, Leorio"

"Eh?"

"I accidentally pressed the wrong button"

"What? How can a person accidentally do something so simple?" they open the door and they move on.

"We're getting closer to the goal" Chika said. There's a statue of a woman on the wall with doors with a X and O on them. There are also weapons on the wall.

"Let's see... This will be the last decision made by the majority rule. Are you ready? Choose O or X. That's it" Killua reads the question on the wall.

"Am I ready?" Leorio asks himself.

"You bet"

O4 X1

"Huh? Who pressed X?" the statue has a red light on its forehead.

"Please select a path. There are two choices. One path allows five to pass, but is long and difficult. The other path only allows three. But is short and easy" the five are suprised.

"Incidentally, the long and difficult path requires a minimum of forty-five hours. The short and easy path leads the goal in approximately three minutes. Press O for the long and difficult path and X for the short and easy path. If X is selected, two people must be secured to the wall with handicuffs. Before the door would open. The two chained members will be unable to move until the time limit expires" it said.

"The examiners were very prepared. I think they have every weapon under the sun here. Two out of five... So we're supposed to fight to decide the three who pass?" Kurapika thinks.

"Let me make this clear. I'm going to press X. But I have no intention of staying behind. I'll do whatever it takes to be one of the three..." Leorio said.

"I'm going to press O. We made it all the way here together. I want us all to pass together" Gon volunteers.

"Gon..."

"Even if it's a big risk, I want to give it a shot!"

"Come on... You can't really call this a risk. We have less than 2 hours. Gon, there's only one choice if you want to pass this exam" Killua said.

"There you have it" Leorio said.

"Now we have to decide how to choose which three pass. Well, I'm planning on two of them being you and me and Chika"

"Must we really fight among ourselves?" Kurapika thinks and Chika looks at the weapons.

"These weapons are sharp. They look strong..." Chika has an idea and she snaps her fingers then they look to her.

"Guys... I have an idea" Chika said.

"Two hours and three minutes remain" the person in the speaker said.

"It's almost over...." Umori said.

"Yeah, it took forever" Imori said and a door opens.

"I've made it..." an injured man arrives anc he falls down. Imori touched his neck if he's still alive.

"He's dead"

"The fool. Better to live and try again, than to pass and die" Umori said. Then another door opens. Gon and his friends step in.

"Kurapika, applicant #404, is the twentieth to pass. Chika, applicant #96 is the twenty-first to pass. Killua, applicant #99, is the twenty-second to pass. Gon, applicant #405 is the twenty-third to pass. Leorio, applicant #403, is the twenty-fourth to pass. Total time seventy hours and fifty-eight minutes"

"My butt hurts... I didn't expect a slide for the short and easy path" Killua said.

"It's all thanks to Chika. We passed the third phase" Leorio rubs Chika's hair.

"Hey, stop that. You're messing my hair" Chika said moving Leorio's hand.

"How did you came up with that idea?" Killua asked.

"The idea popped up in my head because of the weapons. It's so sharp that it can break a wall"

"I see. Then you use Nen to break to the wall and make a hole. Then sneak into the short and easy path" Kurapika said and Chika nods.

"You're so clever, Chika" Gon said and Chika grins. After two hours....

"The third phase of the exam is over. Twenty-six applicants have passed. One has died" then a door opens and it leads outside of the tower. Then they saw Lippo.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, congratulations on having escaped the trick tower. Only the fourth and final phase remain"

"Two more..."

"The fourth phase will take place over there, on Zevil Island" Lippo points to a small island.

"Let us proceed" he snapped his fingers and a man walks infront of them with a box.

"I will need you to draw lots"

"Lots? For what?" Pokkle asked.

"To determine who will hunt and who will be hunted. In here there are twenty-six numbered cards. In other words your ID numbers are on the cards. I need you each to draw a card, in the order by which you exited on the tower. Any questions?" Chika raises her hand.

"There are twenty-six numbered cards, right? Does that mean two applicants will hunt one applicant?"

"Good question. That's correct. So you have to be catious. Will the first person come foreward?" Hisoka comes foreward and gets a card in the box. Next is Gittarackur and he gets a card weirdly.

"Guess I'm next" Hanzo said and he gets a card. Then next is Gerreta.

"I'm next" Pokkle said and later Kurapika is next.

"Hey, he said something about hunting and being hunted. Does that mean we'll be fighting with each other?" Gon asked.

"Yeah, probably..." Killua said with his hands behind his neck and he gets a card after Kurapika. Next is Chika then Gon and Leorio.

"I don't know what is this all about but I draw with style" Leorio said and gets a card. Then next is Tonpa.

"Everyone's taken a card? Then remove the seal from your card" Lippo said and they all remove it.

"The card indicates your target" the others covers their badge. Gon looks at his card and the number written is 44.

"This box has recorded which card each of ou drew. This means that you're free to dispose of the cards if you wish. The objective is to steal your target's ID number"

"Oh so we don't need to kill each other" Imori said.

"Naturally, you're free to use any method you choose to steal the tags. Including killing your target and taking tag off the corpse"

"That sounds like the fastest way" Amori said.

"S-so what is this about?" Imori asked.

"Fool, there's nothing to be scared of" Umori said elbowing Imori.

"Listen carefully! Your card's ID tag is worth three points. Your own ID is also worth three points. All other ID tags are worth one point. You need six points to advance to the final phase. So while on Zevil Island, you must gather enough ID tags to total six points. That is the condition for clearing the Hunter Exam's Fourth Phase" Lippo explains the rules. Later they're on a ship going to Zevil Island.

"I'd like to commend on board for their excellent work during the Hunter Exam's Third Phase. I will serve as your guide. My name is Khara. It will take two hours for this boat to reach Zevil Island. All twenty-five applicants remaining here are automatically qualified to take net year's exam!" Khara winks.

"So if you fail this year, don't feel bad. Please try again next year...." the applicants didn't listen to her.

"Th-this is so depressing..."

"The battle has already begun" Kurapika said.

"Yeah, everyone removed their ID tags and hid them" Leorio said.

"Well, you're free to do as you like for the next two hours. Please enjoy the both ride" Khara said and left. Leorio opens his left eye and looks at Kurapika.

"Speaking hypothetically.... If you happened to be my target, I wouldn't show you any mercy"

"Naturally, if you happened to be my target, I would say the same" Leorio stands up shocks what he said.

"Am I your target?" Leorio asked.

"I was speaking hypothetically"

"Oh, right...."

"Don't worry"

"You are not my target"

"I-I see..." then Kurapika stands up.

"And you're not my target!"

Killua and Chika approaches Gon.

"Yo" Killua and Chika sits with Gon.

"What number did you draw?" Killua asked.

"How about you two?"

"Secret"

"Mine is a secret too" Chika said. After 5 seconds, they look at each other with a laugh.

"Don't worry. You are not my target" Killua said.

"And you two aren't my target too" Chika said.

"Same here" Gon said.

"Show each other our numbers at the same time?" Killua asked and the two agrees.

"Ready and..." they show their cards and Gon and Killua are suprised with Chika's card. And also Killua and Chika are suprised with Gon's card.

"#44 is... Seriously? You really have a bad luck"

"Hisoka, huh? He's dangerous" Chika said.

"You think so? What will you do, Chika? #404 is Kurapika.

"I know. I'll think of something" Chika said.

"Who's #199?" Gon asked.

"You don't it either?"

"I know. It's one of those three" Chika said pointing to the three brothers. Gon shakes with a smile.

"Gon?"

"Huh? What?"

"Are you happy or scared?"

"Both, I guess... In a straight-up fight, I wouldn't stand a chance. But if only I need to steal the ID tag then I have a real shot"

"Yeah"

"Right now, I might actually have a chance. That scares me a little..." Gon put his hands together.

"But I think it's worth it"

"I see" Killua stands up.

"Well, don't let your guard down. He's pretty strong" Chika said and stands up.

"Let's do our best" Killua said.

"Make sure you stay alive, Gon"

"Uh-huh. You too" Gon said.

"Goodluck" Chika said and later, they arrive at Zevil island.

"Thank you for your patience, everyone. We've finally arrive on Zevil Island. Now, please disembark in the order by which you cleared the third phase.

"Tsk... This again" Leorio said.

"After each person disembarks, we'll wait two minutes before the next person's turn"

"That means we'll wait here for a while" Killua said.

"Yeah"

"You will stay on this island for exactly one week. During that time, you must amass your six points of ID tags and return here" Khara explains.

"All right then, the first person may start!" Hisoka is the first one.

"I understand... Those who disembark earlier will hold the advantage" Kurapika said.

"Yeah. They can hide and monitor their target's movements" Leorio said and Hisoka is out of sight.

"Two minutes have passed. The second person may start" Khara said and the second one is Gittarackur.

"The third person may start!" Hanzo is next.

"Yeah!" then the others have disembarked.

"The twentieth person may start" Kurapika disembarks.

"Two minutes have passed. The twenty-first person may start!"

"I'll go now. See ya..." Chika said and the two nods.

"Now to find Kurapika"

"Two minutes have passed. The twenty-second person may start!"

"See ya" Killua said.

"Uh-huh" then Killua disembarks

"Well, guess I'll begin by scouting the island"

"Two minutes have passed. The twenty-third person may start!"

"Okay! See you"

"Yeah!" Leorio said and Gon disembarks

"First, I need to find Hisoka" later Gon lies on a branch of a tree.

"How do I steal Hisoka's card?"

Flashback

"Such a good boy" Gon hits him with his fishing pole.

"Very nice" Hisoka dodges Gon's attacks.

"I'm getting excited now..."

Hisoka grabs Gon's neck and then Hisoka releases him.

End of Flashback

Gon slides at the side and he's upside down.

"I won't be able to steal his tag with a head-on attack" Gon goes back on the branch and saw an applicant.

"Another applicant... And another one is behind him. He's targeting the guy infront"

Pokkle gets an arrow and he's going to aim the target. He releases the arrow and the applicant dodges the arrow but he was hit by the side.

"He blew it"

"Hey, that was close" the applicant said with his sword pointing to Pokkle. Pokkle smirks.

"Sorry, but it won't be that easy... That easy.. Wh-what?" the applicant falls down.

"B-Bastard..."

"That arrow was coated with a fast acting tranquilizer. You won't able to walk for next week. Don't worry. There's water nearby. You won't die" Pokkle takes the ID number and he spins it using his ring finger.

"I'll be taking this. See ya"

"Wow. He was able to mask his presence as he stalked his prey. And the target was able to sense the shot being fired, and quickly dodge it, avoiding serious injury. However, the other applicant anticipated this, and poisoned his arrow.... THIS IS HOW YOU HUNT!" Gon gets his fishing pole and jumps down of the tree.

"I have any chance at stealing Hisoka's ID tag, this is it!" Gon prepares branches stick on the ground with apples on top.

"First, I have to sneak up on him without being noticed. Then I wait for my chance and steal his tag!" Gon uses his fishing pole and he got the apple infront of him.

"Yeah!" Gon holds the hook.

"But unlike this target, Hisoka will be moving.... Regardless, I'll only get one shot. I have to hook Hisoka's tag when he isn't paying attention"

"Yeah!" Gon ties the apple on the branch and the apple moves.

"Read his movements... NOW!" Gon uses his fishing pole and he catches the apple. He didn't know someone is watching him. Then he keeps practicing. Then later....

"Hm... This isn't quite right. It's too easy to predict how a swinging target will move" the frog jumps out from the bush and Gon uses his fishing pole. The frog jumps away. Gon pulls the fishing pole and holds the hook.

"That's right. I shouldn't forget that Hisoka will try to move out of the way" Gon said and later he puts something on the hook and he fishes on a pond (I'm too lazy to think)

"If I can't get the bird by watching how it moves, I'll never be able to steal Hisoka's ID tag!" Later Gon uses his fishing pole and aims it at the bird. The bird flies away.

"Huh? Oh well! I won't catch a bird on the first or second try" Gon said and then he practices until afternoon.

Meanwhile, Leorio is finding his target.

"Whose number is this?"

Chika is finding Kurapika. Then Chika saw Kurapika walking. Chika hides and then she wait for a moment. Chika takes the first step and she's infront of Kurapika in a blink of an eye. Then there's a yellow electric current around Chika's hand.

"Chika? Am I her..."

"ELECTRIC SHOCK" Chika touches Kurapika and he's electrocuted.

"Sorry, Kurapika. I can't show you any mercy" Chika carries him and leans him on the tree.

"I'll be back. I'll make it up to you, ok?" Chika leaves Kurapika.

Gon is tired and lay on the ground to catch his breath.

"Damn... I didn't think it would be so hard" Gon sits up.

"It's too dark for me to see anything. And all the birds are gone... OKAY! I'll catch one tomorrow!" Gon lay on the ground again and someone is still watching him the next day, he washes his face. Then he gets ready.

"Right! Back to training!" Gon tries to catch the birds using his fishing pole. Then later he lay on the ground.

"It's no use. Maybe it's not possible, after all. To catch a bird, with its accuracy, while it's in flight..." Gon saw a fish jumps and then the bird a catches it.

"Birds can catch fish that are swimming" Gon watches the fish and the bird. The fish is going to jump.

"Go!" the bird catches the fish.

"I get it... There's a moment..." Gon gets his fishing pole.

"When I I know exactly what my target will do next!" Gon waits for the bird to catch the fish. When the fish jumps, the bird charges.

"NOW!" Gon catches the bird using the fishing pole and the bird is wrap around with the hook.

"I did it! I figured it out! I have to aim for my target as he hunts his own prey!" the one who watches him is Gerreta, the huntsman.

"Heh. He actually mastered the art of hunting. Impressive little boy... But that intense concentration will be your undoing" Gerreta left.

Gon has finally mastered the trick that would help him hunt Hisoka. However, Gon is also being hunted.
