Dawn breaks, as the airship carrying Gon and his friends approaches its destination. The Third Phase of the Hunter Exam is about to begin. Gon wakes up.

"I apologize for the long wait. The airship will soon arrive to its destination" the Helmsman said and Gon jumps infront of the window.

"Wow! Is that where the next test will be held?" they arrived on a high tower and lands on it. All of the applicants go down of the airship.

"What is this place?"

"There's nothing here"

"Ahem. Everyone, the exam's Third Phase will begin here, at the top of the Trick Tower" Beans announces.

"Trick tower?"

"To pass this phase, you must reach the tower's base alive. The time limit is seventy-two hours. With that, we will now begin the Third Phase. I will pray for your success"

"No way"

"So it's finally my turn?" the examiner said eating a bag of chips while watching the applicants on a CCTV.

"Best luck to everyone!" the airship left. Gon and his friends looks down of the tower.

"Are we supposed to climb down?" Leorio asked hugging his briefcase.

"That would be suicide..." Kurapika said and Chika looks around. She saw that the number of applicants decreases. Then she saw someone step on something and the tile flips and the man is gone.

"Guys, come with me.."

"Huh?" they follow Chika and Chika presses the stone.

"What are you doing, Chika?" Gon asked.

"Hm... Ah! Guys, I know how to get down below. There are flipping stones on this tower. Each one of us has to split up to another hidden door that can lead us below. These doors can be only used once"

"How did you figure it out?" Killua asked.

"I saw someone used it and when I tried opening it, it wouldn't budge"

"Great job, Chika!" Leorio said.

"No hard feelings if one of us springs a trap! What are you guys gonna do?" Gon asked.

"I can live with that. Luck is part of the game..." Leorio said.

"I have no objection. Then that settles it" Kurapika said and later they chose a hidden door.

"Let's go, on the count of three " Leorio said.

"I guess this is goodbye for now" Gon said.

"We'll meet up again, at the tower's base" Kurapika said.

"Okay!" Chika said.

"Let's go... One" Killua counts.

"Two!" Gon continues.

"Three!" Chika continues and everyone steps on it. They lands on the ground smoothly but Leorio falls down with his face on the ground.

"Huh?"

"Huh? What?" Gon, Killua and Chika look and smiles at each other.

"This was a quite brief farewell" Kurapika said and stands up.

"Oh, so all of the doors lead to the same room..." Leorio thought and Gon goes to a board on the wall with writings and five watches.

"The five of you must follow the will of the majority to reach the goal" Gon read it.

"Five of us? Look... There are five stopwatches"

"There's an O and a X button" Kurapika said and they wear it all.

"I think we will use this to walk multiple routes chosen by the majority" Chika thinks and wears her. Then a door opens.

"That's correct!" someone from the speaker said.

"Who's that?!" Leorio asked.

"My name is Lippo. I am the prison warden here, as well as the Third Phase examiner"

"Prison warden?"

"Multiple routes through this tower have been prepared. You have chosen the path of the majority rule. Cooperation will be the key if you wish to clear this phase of the exam. One's person selfish behavior can detail the entire group. You may now start. Best of luck!" the examiner said and the five of them walks through the door and there's a question. Lippo whistles and many people wearing robes steps infront.

"Dis you need something, warden?"

"The test begins now. Take your assigned positions.

"Okay!" they all said.

"At this door, select O to open and X not to open" Gon reads.

"Forcing us to use majority rule already? The answer should be obvious..." Leorio said and they all press O and the door opens. They go in and there's another question.

"Seriously? Another question so soon?"

"Which way do you want to go?"

"O for the right and X for the left"

"Right... or left?" they all choose and then 3 wants to go to the right and 2 on the left.

"HUH?! Wh-why would you choose to go right? Normally, you should go left"

"That's true. Studies have indicated that people who are lost or stuck at forks unconsciously tend to go left" Kurapika explained.

"I've heard that before, too" Killua said.

"It's just my instincts. Hihi" Chika said.

"Wait! The numbers don't add up! Which button did you press?" Leorio asked.

"Right" Kurapika answered and walks to the right.

"Right" Killua follows Kurapika.

"Right is always right. If we tend to go left, it can be more difficult" Chika said.

"Y-you guys.... So we're just simple-minded!"Leorio follows them.

"We?" Gon asked and later they arrive infront of a square fighting ring at the center and a deep ground.

"Wh-what is this place?"

"Look over there" on the other side they saw four prisoners wearing cloaks and shackles secured their hands.

"The applicants have arrived. Remove the shackles" the man said and the shackles removes automatically and he removes the cloak. Then he steps infront.

"I'm finally free" a bald man appears.

"Allow me to explain. Before you are some of Trick Tower's prisoners..." Lippo speaks to the speaker.

"Prisoners?"

"The Hunter Exam Committee has also officially hired them as examiners. You will fight them against the five of them. The fights will be one-on-one. Each person may only fight once. You are free to use any method you like. Thee will be no draws. A win is declared when the opponent admits defeat"

"You may pick your order. It's majority rule. So secure three wins, and you may pass. The rules are simple" the bald man said.

"Tsk... Majority rule again?"

"Well, I prefer straightforward rules"

"However, the actual fights will not be quite simple. The prisoners' sentences will be reduced by one year, for every hour they delay the applicants here. In other words, their goal is also to buy time" Lippo said while watching them.

"I understand.... And we must reach the goal within seventy-two hours. So time will be critical during these fights" Kurapika said.

"Okay, I'm up first. Choose your combatant!" Bendot, 199 year sentence, robbery and murderer.

"What should we do? He said that we can fight within any method. So that means anything goes" Killua asked.

"We don't know what they're trying to pull..." Leorio said.

"There's too much at stake without knowing what they have up their sleeve. Given that, I shall fight him" Kurapika said.

"No, I'm just worried. You might end up getting killed. I'll fight him for you. I bet he's using the same power as me" they're confused to what Chika said.

"Confused, are you? If you let me fight him, I'll tell you about the power what I'm saying" Kurapika thinks about it.

"Ok. Keep your word"

"Yeah, yeah" the way to the ring extends. Chika and Bendot walks to the ring and they face on each other.

"Now, let us determine the method of combat. I propose a death match" Bendot said.

"Death match?" Gon said suprised.

"They fight until one dies?" Leorio said suprised too.

"No... Don't let him provoke you" Kurapika said.

"Well?"

"Ok. I'll accept" Chika said with no reaction.

"Is she serious? That prisoner might be dangerous. Will she be ok?" Leorio asked nervous.

"Goodluck for her" Killua said with his hand behind his neck.

"I commend for your courage!" Bendot said and he's a fighting stance.

"Can I use a weapon?" Chika asked.

"Oh. I forgot. Another one is that you can't use weapons. We'll only do hand-to-hand combat" Bendot said.

"Okay! Gon!" Chika throws her stick and Gon catchss it.

"Hold it for me!"

"Ok. I'm ready" Chika said and there's a strange atmosphere.

"Let the fight BEGIN!" Bendot jumps to her and he reaches his hand to Chika. Chika holds his hand and crushes it.

"AAHHH!!" Bendot shouts and he clenches his fist and he's aiming at Chika's stomach. Chika uses her other hand to hold his fist.

"Is that all you got?" Chika asked and she throws him on the floor.

"Whoa! Chika's strong!" Gon said.

"What power does she have?" Leorio asked.

"She's a monster" Killua said.

"I HEARD THAT!" Chika said, with a dross-popping vein, turning to Killua and Killua frightened.

"We're not finished yet! I'm going to crush you!" Bendot said and Chika saw a white aura.

"I knew it" Chika is in a fighting stance and Bendot charges and Chika charges too. Bendot aims to Chika's face but Chika aims for his stomach so she goes under him.

"Concentrate it to your fist and then I win!" Chika punches his stomach and Bendot bursts out blood from his mouth.

"KO!!" Chika shouts and she drags him to the ground and she lives him with a blot.

"You're not even skilled enough" Chika said and Bendot's dead. The four can't move a muscle.

"I-is this the power she's talking about?" Kurapika asked.

"How powerful.."

"She's more than a monster" Killua said frightened.

"HUHHH?!! CAN YOU REPEAT WHAT YOU SAID?!" Chika's head gets bigger and has a cross-popping vein.

"OH.. NOTHING.. HAHAH" Killua fakes a laugh.

"Wow..." Gon said in amazement. Now they have one point and there's only two more wins. Chika comes back.

"Chika, can you teach me that?" Gon asked.

"Sure. After the exam" Chika asnwers.

"Chika" Kurapika calls her.

"Hm? Oh yeah! I told you I'll keep my word. What you saw a while ago is called Nen"

"Nen?"

"Yup. I'll tell you more after the exam. Haven't I told you?"

"Oh, right" Kurapika said.

"Huh? What does she meant, Kurapika?" Leorio asked.

"Nothing"

"That girl's terrifying" one of the prisoners said.

"We're lucky that we weren't first"

"Don't worry. Everything will be fine" his shackles are been removed and removes his cloak. Sedokan, 149 year sentence, serial bombings.

"There's still a chance to defeat two on the remaining four" Sedokan said.

"Two more rounds left, then we win" Chika said.

"Who's going next?" Kurapika asked.

"Me! I'll go!" Gon raises his hand.

"Are you sure?" Leorio asked.

"Uh-huh!"

"The next opponent doesn't look strong" Killua said.

"But you can't let your guard down. He's still a criminal" Leorio warns Gon.

"Uh-huh! I know"

Gon and his friends won one round. What is their next opponent, Sedokan, planning to do in this match? At the start of the Hunter Exam's Third Phase, there were 41 applicants. With 1 eliminated, only 40 remain.
