Flaming ran through the grass, chasing a antelope. He wanted to get as much meat as possible for his Pride. Since he was now second-in-command, he wanted to show off his BEST skills.
The antelope twisted and turned and Flaming remembered his training as an apprentice. He was a hunter now, deputy, male leader.
Oh no you don't! Flaming thought. He pounced on the antelope and it fell to the ground. Its paws flailed to and so, dying. Flaming waited till it was dead and dragged it back to the camp. He felt proud of his catch, surely his Pride-mates would be happy for him!

"What is this?" Li, the leader female, demanded.
Flaming bent down, took a bite of the antelope and pushed it toward Li. "This is an antelope, in honor of me and you."
Li smiled. "Indeed. From this day on, until the day your forgotten, you will now be known has Fl."
Flaming held his head high. He was now Fl. Such a short name! He thought. Two letters. No vowels.
The sun was setting and they, Fl and Li, headed to the leaders den. Fl wondered what tomorrow was going to be like, leading a Pride! He couldn't wait.

Fl woke up, and the morning light shined in the rocky den. He got up and stretched. Li wasn't in the den. He walked out and spotted Li outside the den. "Good morning," She said.
Fl padded over to Li. "Good morning back" He said.
"Enjoy leadership?" Li asked, knowing what Fl would say.
"Well I have no idea! I just started being leader, ya'know!" Fl replied.
"Oh, Fl," Li said. "Come. Let's go for a walk, I will tell you about leadership."
Fl and Li walked together. "The other Prides must respect us leaders. We need to be respectfully, too. It is what makes are grateful leaders. Never be like Do, the legendary leader."
Fl nodded. "I will do as you say."
"Oh I love you, Fl."
