Background Time

A Few Days Later...

The next few days I spent training my power, controlling it, activating it when nesasary, learing combat styles to use during  fights, I all together forgot about my axe but still use it sometimes.

Haru had spent almost every day cheering me on and even giving me pointers on various combat on her martial arts she had perfected. "When striking for the neck to paralyze an opponent...like this" she then attacks me with a speedy strike that makes contact, my eyes flair and I fall down unable to move.

She gasps coming down to help me "oh I didn't mean to actually hit you!" She says embarrassingly "its fine I'll survive" I try to stand but I can't move yet. She laughs nervously "the paralysis lasts a total of two hours, you can only talk and move your head" I lay my head back on her knee "might as well get comfortable" she smiles brushing my hair with her hand.

The next two hours we spend talking about things of the future and I ask "whats the story about your family?" She looks at me seriously as tears clouded her eyes, this point I wanted to comfort her with a hug but I still couldn't move.

She stands and turns around whipping her eyes "no, I can't keep this to myself, I trust you....love you....enough to tell you everything of how I came to be a hunter in training..... it all started when I was ten" (An: Rinuto and Haru ar both 18 years old if I haven already explained that).

Haru's Pov

"Haru breakfast" my mother says, I sit up and yawn stretching, I sniff the air "BACON!" I say standing and running down the stairs in a dead sprint. I almost run into my dad who was setting up the table, he smiles "careful kido these are ceramic plates" he smiles I nod sitting down in my seat in the corner next to the fish tank "hey steve" I tap the tanks and the fish swims up happily as I toss some flakes into the water.

"Steve's hungry today!" My mother laughs setting down a few pieces of bacon on my plate and a slab of pancakes "thank you mom" I smile from ear to ear and she nods serving the rest to her, my father, and my twin brother. We eat our plates clean and I stand picking up the plates and putting them in the sink.

"Maybe after lunch we can go out to the lake" my dad says to us, we both, scream "lake! lake! lake! lake!" He smiles and I start scrubbing off the food quickly. There was a knock at the door, our parents look at each other and take us into the other room "whats happening?" my mother only hands me her sword and says "take care of your brother while we deal with this" I nod feeling nervous as the walk to the door.

I hear the door creak open and chatter about us "we want the twins" there was a slam afterward, probably to threaten my parents.  My dads voice comes up next "you don't need them! You have the other five anyways" I hear a scream, my dads scream, I pull my brother to the door and see a sword sticking out of my dads chest.

I hold back tears as my mother turns to run but is caught by the same sword "run kids!" She screams as it catches her side she falls down bleeding out, I turn and pull my brother away, both of us crying. We go back to the pantry and I open the window and begin to climb out, I drop onto the grass and help pull my brother out but he is caught by someone's grip on the other side. I pull with all my strength but he looks at me "go! At least one of us can make it out alive" I shake my head "I won't let you go" and in one sharp pull, my brother flys into the room screaming. 

I cry holding the sword close and ran into the nearby forest, I waited a few hours before I risked going back home,  I found both my parents dead where they were killed and couldn't find my brother but I assumed the worst. It took many hours but I buried both parents under a tree, I walk back into the home and spend years living in it using my fathers books on martial arts to no longer feel weak when someone else came into my life.

Back to the present

She turns to me crying "and so thats how I wanted to be a hunter, I don't want anyone I care about to die in front of me never again!" And as if fate knew she was suffering, my paralysis wore off and I stood picking her up for a hug "its ok I won't let anything happen to you, and I'll make sure to keep out of harms way more often" I wipe the tears away from her eyes and kiss her.

"We'll be safe" that phrase echos off the walls.

"I love you Rin" she looks into my eyes, I stare back nodding "I love you to Ru" (An: I know its cheesy baby names for the two but I couldn't resist)
