Chapter 4
Grace's PoV
It hadn't taken long for a second body to turn up in the street, exsanguinated and bitten. Another of the missing people who had been gone for a week. This was almost like clockwork, weirdly timed for vampires. I'd gained knowledge of another possible missing person as well, the morning after book man. This didn't seem to fit what they had been doing before but at this point, knowing the nest had about ten vampires in it, their hunger could be taking over their timekeeping skills which also meant it was likely the bodies would start dropping quicker too. I desperately needed this help. Strangely, my phone began to ring soon after. It was Benjamin.
"Benj, please tell me you have some good news?" I said, nerves twisting my gut into a knot.
"I tried everyone I knew but none of them could do it. They were all busy." He said sadly.
"Ah well, at least you tried. Thanks Benji." I began but he cut me off.
"Did I say I was finished?" I smiled and rolled my eyes at his shirty response. "So I contacted the other Men of Letters and asked about information for the American one. I got through to someone and they said they're willing to help." My mouth fell open.
"You're saying I'm getting help? And from some men of Letters people?" I said excitedly. Benjamin laughed - which I'm sure was at me and not with me - before he continued.
"Heads up though, they sound like tough guys. They were pretty snappy with me so make a good impression please. Otherwise they'll come for my head." Benjamin added, making the excitement die off a little.
"Okay. Got it. Thank you!" I said as I began to get dressed, throwing on my smart suit as I prepared to become my fake FBI agent again.
"I've sent them your details and when they get to Lockhart, they'll meet up with you. Shouldn't be much longer, they left at 5am." Benjamin said before we exchanged goodbyes and promises to speak once the case was over.
I quickly got myself ready and headed out to the second crime scene in as many days. These vamps were ruthless.

Not long after I'd arrived at the crime scene, two men arrived in a black Impala. The noise of the car had attracted most of the staff working this area but I'd kept my head down and took that time to examine for bites.
"Agents Tyler and Drake with the FBI." I heard them say before the police officer interrupted.
"Your colleague is already here." He said nonchalantly as he let them pass. Their footsteps approached but stopped beside me.
"Grace?" One asked, grabbing my attention. I looked around before standing and holding out my hand.
"Grace Derry - or in this instance Samantha Byron FBI." I said confidently, offering a small smirk as I took in the two tall men in front of me.
"Sam Winchester. This is my brother Dean." The taller one smiled, shaking my hand with a strong grip. His hair was longer and moved in the wind; which he brushed out of his face as he spoke. His brother had shorter hair, which was slightly side parted and seemed less friendly than his brother.
"So what have we got?" Dean jumped in, wasting no time in getting to business. They moved around the body as I pulled the sheet away.
"Five missing, two of those dead after a week. All taken from the Lockhart state park in the night. Both bodies have multiple bite wounds and have next to no blood left in their bodies. I followed a vampire to their nest which is in the groundskeepers home just on the outskirts of the park and checked it out but it looked like a nest of eight to ten." I told them every piece of information I knew and if I wasn't mistaken, they looked quite impressed. They looked at each other and raised heir eyebrows before looking back to me.
"You know that was a pretty dangerous stunt, following one of them." Dean scolded like a parent, but I shrugged it off.
"I had covered my scent, don't worry." I folded my arms. "I'm not an amateur." Sam offered me an apologetic smile.
"It's nothing against you. My brother is protective of pretty much every hunter." He patted his brother on the shoulder. Dean shrugged it off and offered a small smile. "So you've pretty much got this one solved, you just need some help with the nest?" He led us away from the body and towards the impala.
"Yeah. There was no way I was going to run in there alone when there are ten of them." I shrugged. "I really appreciate you guys coming over here to help me. This is only a small town, things like this make an impact like you wouldn't believe." Sam opened the door for me and I slid into the back of the car, noting just how clean and pristine the car looked baring in mind it was owned by hunters. "Wow. Nice car." I added.
"Thanks. Baby has been in our family for a while." Dean grinned, happy to be talking about his pride and joy. Sam let out a laugh as he shook his head. It was great to see hunters actually be happy, and the bond between these two looked unbreakable. The kind of bond that you could only have when you've been together through the worst of the worst. I daren't say anything now, but I bet they had some great stories to tell. Hunters spend every moment chasing and killing things that the scariest stories could barely imagine, ones that stories have simplified to make them easy to sell, ones that you wouldn't wish on your worst nightmare... and no one knows we do it unless we're literally saving them. They get beaten, bitten, pounced on and killed in the job. To see these two still smiling and laughing gave me hope that there was still a life even for a hunter.
"Right, lets go and plan our attack. If the numbers are right, we've got one hell of a fight on our hands."
