Chapter 25

Grace's PoV

After a quick stop to grab some supplies, Sam drove us back to the hotel where we rushed Kelly into my room in the hope noone would see her. We warded the place, spraying symbols on every part of the walls and windows, lining the door and windowsills with salt. She watched our every move, slightly on edge still.

"We're preventing others from being able to get you." I explained. "The only problem is..." I turned to Sam and lowered my voice. "We need to ward this place against angels too. They're trying to kill her too, right?" Sam nodded.

"But then Cass won't be able to come." He said, knowing what I was getting at. With a heavy heart I sighed and nodded.

"It's up to you though, If you want to leave the warding I understand." A banging on the door caught us all off guard, we silently ordered Kelly to hide in the bathroom as Sam opened the door, gun held to the other side of it as he looked at who was calling.

"Any more secrets?" Dean said, furious as he stormed into the room. He glared at me with almost hatred. He spun back to Sam and held his arms out. "Sam, are we working together here or not?" Sam deflated where he stood, a huge breath coming out as he prepared for yet another argument.

"Dean I-" he began but dean cut him off.

"You know what? Save it Sammy." His eyes narrowed at his brother, the tension building in the room. "You want to go all quiet on me again, that's fine. I'll sort this out by myself. You go and do what you want. Hang around with Ruby mark two." He flung an arm in my direction.

"Who's Ruby?" I butted in, receiving glared from both of them. "Look, Kelly-" Dean was quick to cut me off too.

"Kelly is none of your damned business. You eavesdropping our conversations doesn't mean you're part of the team." Dean snapped, turning his back on me to face Sam square on.

"Is this what this is about? Ruby?" Sam questioned, his brows furrowed. He let out a small breathy laugh as he shook his head.

"This is about trust Sam." Dean hissed. "You're always keeping secrets from me. I have to find out what's happening from some monster we're hunting or, or Cass or bobby. YOU never tell me anything Sam! How can we work together when you're running off to be with Selena Gomes over here?" He didn't even look over as he pointed in my direction. Sam's nostrils flared and his body tensed as he prepared himself to shout and argue but I got in there first, trying to nip this in the bud before it got out of hand.

"Kelly is hiding in the bathroom. My hotel room is warded against everything apart from angels because of Cass." I said flatly, grabbing my bag on the bed and flinging it over my shoulder. "I'm not trying to come between anything. I'm just trying to save the world, take some of the weight off your shoulders." I sighed. "I'm going for a beer." I snatched the room key up and shoved it in my pocket as I stormed out, slamming the door behind me.

"Prick." I muttered to myself as I crossed the road and headed into the closest bar. I took one of the seats closest to the door and slumped down, feeling like the day had been a fail despite the fact Kelly was safely with us. Once my beer was put down in front of me, I let out a small smile hoping that the day could only go up from here.

Sam's PoV

"You're unbelievable." I scoffed once the door had been slammed shut by Grace. At the sound of her name, Kelly had poked her head around the bathroom door timidly. Dean looked between kelly and I, suddenly speechless.

"What? I-" it was my turn to interrupt. My body was still tensed from the argument and I wasn't letting this go lightly, not again.

"You're such an ass!" I spat, causing him to look at me in surprise. "I'm your brother, I know you and I know how you think. Grace is a good hunter, she proved that to you on the vamp hunt and when she helped me after I'd been turned. Hell, she even distracted the demons with an exorcism so we could fight back. Why don't you trust her?" Dean sighed as he walked over to the small table by the kitchen and slumped on the chair.

"Because every person you like and team up with is normally a monster with an ulterior motive that ends up screwing us!" Dean slammed his fist on the table causing me to jump. "That or you just completely disregard your family for a woman. Ring any bells? Ruby? Sparrow? Amelia?" A fire grew in my stomach, sending me into a fury I could barely control.

"Oh yeah and you're just perfect right? How many things have you kept secret from me Dean? Hell? Stuff Dad had said to you?" I stormed towards him and grabbed him off the chair, slamming him into the wall. "You always act like you're the perfect brother who does no wrong but you're not!" Dean threw his fist at me, the force of the punch to my gut making me drop him and stagger backwards, doubling over as I coughed.

The door swung open quickly as Grace ran in, slamming the door behind her. The look on her face caused us all to drop what we were saying and doing.

"Demons are coming. They were in that bar." She said out of breath from running back to the hotel room. Dean jumped up and rummaged around for some salt as I pulled some more out of my bag. We quickly lined all the windowsills and doors while Grace finished a sigil on the floor and covered it with a rug. Kelly rushed towards Grace, wrapping her arms around her for protection. "It's fine, we should be safe for now." She said, trying to soothe Kelly without lying to her.

"Yeah, but others will catch wind of this. We need to move." Dean ordered, packing everything up. "We'll get through these Demons and make a break for it. Come on."
