Chapter 14

Sam's PoV

"Oh this is going to fun." The demon smiled, taking in the fact it was just me and it alone in the room. It could say what it wanted and I wouldn't be scared of what Dean would think about the things I'd kept secret from him, but it also meant I didn't have anyone to support me if it said anything particularly hurtful.

"Exorcizamus te, omnis immundus spiritus, omnis satanica potestas-" I began, glaring into the black eyes of this demon, one who seemed to think it was fun to possess Grace to toy with us.

"So soon Sammy? Don't you want to play first?" The demon smiled, pulling on the chains to stretch as close to me as possible. I bit my lips together to try and remain straight faced, not giving anything away.

"omnis incursio infernalis adversarii-" once again I was interrupted.

"What's so special about this girl anyway?" The demon questioned, making Grace look shyly towards me with a smile. "She's nothing on Jess." My nostrils flared as my lips twitched, showing the demon that they were on the right path. All they wanted to do was distract me and ruin the exorcism and they didn't care what destruction they left in their path. "Ah, sweet Jess. After all those years, she's still there; Fresh in your mind and in your heart. Even that other girl Amelia couldn't cut it. She was married too though, huh... bit of a bummer." The demon shrugged as if what they were saying was common news. "Jess was your first love and we took her from you. It was so satisfying, watching your perfect life get torn down within seconds. You never really recovered from that, did you? Watching her die, knowing that's how your mum died too... must have been tough." Every word was like a knife plunging into my heart and tearing it open. All the wounds I'd crudely sewn shut were now opening again and it was so painful to hear and to see. This demon had taken someone so caring and made them sound like a monster. It was tough.

"Enough!" I snarled as I stormed towards Grace's body with my blade, aiming the sharpened tip at her neck.

"Ah ah." The demon shook their head. "You don't want to hurt this girl, do you?" Truthfully I didn't, but my head kept telling me it wasn't her and any pain I inflicted would be felt by this mouthy demon and that made it seem all the more pleasing.

"I'm sure she'll forgive me." I said as I ran the blade along her cheek, the demon letting out a small cry. It was so satisfying to hear, like some sort of audible drug, making me feel better with every scream. I ran the blade along her chest, the demon screaming out and hissing at me. Soon, another laugh filled the air and set me on edge.

"Oh come on little Sammy. You're going to have to do better that than to get me to shut up." The grin was almost unbearable to look at. My knife cut along her arm, running the length of it from her shoulder to her wrist.

"omnis legio, omnis congregatio et secta diabolica." I continued, knowing my tolerance for this demon was wearing thin.

"I have a great idea! You should date Grace too because, let's be honest, she'd look great burning on the ceiling as you wept." The demon smiled slyly, watching as I began to crack under the pressure. "That beautiful face, smouldering in the heat. She'd die screaming just like every woman you loved." In a moment of weakness, I snapped. I ran at Grace, grabbing her by the shoulder as I rammed the knife into her stomach, glaring into the black eyes as I did it. The Hate that had surged through my veins died off just as quickly as the demon pushed themselves back, bringing Grace back for a moment. Her blue eyes stared back at me in shock as she let out a gutteral cry. A single tear fell down her cheek as I stood millimetres from her with a knife in her stomach.

"S-Sam?" She whispered, her eyes falling to the blade I held in my hand. She went weak, her legs collapsing under her as the chains rattled and strained to keep her limbs held tight.

"I'm sorry Grace. I'm so sorry..." I pulled the blade away, throwing it on the table beside me as I watched her break. I'd just done that. I was supposed to be helping her. Her head dropped down, her gaze breaking from mine in a second. I brought my hands to my mouth, letting out a shaky breath as I tried to come to terms with what I had just done. Please say I hadn't just killed her...

"Haha." The demon's voice filled the otherwise silent room once more. "I had you going there, didn't I? That's one of my favourite tricks." The demon stood back up strongly and gave me a satisfied nod, happy with the work they'd done. Of course they'd managed to distract me from the exorcism and used that time to get into my head.

"Shut up." I hissed, running my hands over my face in frustration.

"I've got one more trick up my sleeve though little Sammy. Lucifer gave me special requests when it came to you!" The demon winked as they stood tall, preparing for the finale. "NO!! SAM LEAVE ME ALONE. PLEASE! I BEG YOU!" The demon screamed out in Grace's voice, attracting Dean and Castiel's attention. They began to bang on the door, asking for me to let them in. "HELP ME PLEASE! HE'S CRAZY!" White light lit up the door, forcing it from the hinges as the demon quickly escaped Grace's body and into one of the closest vents. Grace's body went limp just as Dean and Cass ran into the room, their eyes widening at the sight in front of them.

"What the hell Sam?" Dean snapped as he grabbed the keys and began unlocking the cuffs. Cass ran over and examined her.

"These are bad wounds, it'll take time to heal her. Her stomach is badly damaged." My stomach dropped at what they said, realising that my short fuse with the demon had seriously hurt Grace. Dean caught my eye as he helped Cass move Grace from the room.

"We'll have to talk about this." He said angrily as he stormed off, leaving me alone with my thoughts.
