Chapter 13
Sam's PoV
The silence was deafening as we all stood for a second, trying to work out what had just happened. We were just talking and suddenly we got ambushed by Lucifer's demons. They wanted to get information from us, to capture us and torture us until we spilt what we knew about Kelly and the baby - but Grace has stopped that. She began to say an exorcism to attract their attention and gave us the break we needed. We all fought well and now, battered and bruised, we all regrouped as we recovered.
"What the hell was that?" I breathed out as I took another look around, noting just how many demons had managed to get through our warding and protection.
"Lucifer must have screwed with the bunker." Dean sighed as he rubbed his shoulder with his hand. "Dammit." Cass quickly stood in front of Dean and healed him, bright light emanating from his hand as he did so. The place was eerily quiet now and it seemed to set us all on edge more. Cass moved to me and healed me before healing himself. He slumped down on a chair straight after, feeling drained, as his eyes finally moved off us and onto Grace who had been particularly silent since this whole thing had ended. My eyes followed his as Dean walked over to Grace, slumped by the pillar, and touched her arm to wake her. She threw her hands up to Dean, pushing him away with an immense amount of strength. He flew across the room and skidded to a halt on the floor, eyes wide as he yanked his blade from his belt and held it towards her.
"She's been possessed." He barked, making us jump up too. He ran back towards her wielding his knife, trying to attack her as she dodged his moves and threw in some punches of her own. For a moment, I froze, unsure of what to do or say. Grace has just saved us from interrogation, torture, pain and possibly death but was now a demon. Was she still alive in there? Had the demon killed her before becoming her? We had no idea but we had to help her, we owed it to her. I felt anxiety rise as I ran towards the battling duo and pulled Dean away, shoving him back as I shouted at him.
"You can't stab her!" I told him, furious that the blade had even become an answer to him. When we were younger and new to the job, before these blades were around, we exorcised every demon. Now we always seemed to jump in with the knives recklessly, killing any demon and vessel without a second thought.
"She's a demon, Sam." He said as if I was stupid, talking down to me.
"Then exorcise her." I argued, feeling annoyed that Dean didn't seem to care about her and her life. My eyes narrowed at him as we stared each other down.
"Has anyone ever told you that brothers shouldn't fight over girls?" Grace said, the demon making her sweet persona so sick and smarmy. I scrunched my face in disgust at the sound of her voice. "There's plenty of me to go around." She flung her arms out and all three of us flew apart, skidding to different parts of the room. Grace was stood over me within a second, a sickening smile on her face.
"Grace come on, you can fight this!" I urged, feeling like I was fighting a losing battle. Grace cocked her head to the side like a child.
"It's sweet really, how much she cares about you after such a short time." The demons voice was gruff, Grace's soft tone being pushed back. "You know, her best friend died by her hand. It's only fair we keep the tradition going." The demon laughed as Grace's hand shot forwards and grabbed my throat, lifting me to my feet in seconds before moving me off the ground. The other hand was flung in the direction of Dean and Cass, both now stuck against the walls of the building.
"Sammy!" Dean's voice called as our eyes met, his glazing over with sadness as he watched me struggling for breath, kicking my legs out as my arms pulled and scratched at Grace's.
"Dean..." I breathed out, a sad atmosphere making the room feel heavy. With my lungs burning, I began to fall unconscious.
"Say goodbye to your precious Sam." The demon laughed, their black eyes watching every ounce of life struggle to stay within me. The laugh was cut short as a 'no' was muttered by the demon. Their hand loosened from my neck a little. "No!" Grace fought the demon who had possessed her with everything she had. "I'm so sorry." She spoke as she forced her hand to release me quickly, the other hand releasing my brother and Cass. "Please help-" the sweet voice was cut off again but the demons laugh. "Ooh, she's a tough one!"
"I'm sorry Grace." Dean said as he grabbed her, throwing holy water at her. She screamed and dropped to her knees, her hands covering her face. Cass grabbed the handcuffs and cuffed her, leading her to the dungeon where we would once again try to save someone.

"I've got this." I stood tall, desperately trying to prove to my brother that I didn't need backup to exorcise the demon from Grace, especially when she was trapped in our dungeon.
"Whatever she says, it's not her. The demon is desperate to distract you." Dean explained once again, making me roll my eyes. We'd been doing this since I was in college. I knew exactly what demons were and how they acted. I followed it up with a smile just to keep Dean happy as I patted him on the shoulder and walked into the dungeon, shutting and locking the door behind me. This was it. A fight for me and only me to fight. This had all gone pear shaped and it was because of me so I had to fix this. I'd been turned into a vampire, which meant I had to be cured, brought back to the bunker where Lucifer had enemies waiting for the perfect time to strike. Grace has to put herself in the line of fire to save us and now it was my time to save her. I don't know what it was about her, but there was something that made me care about her even when we'd known each other for such a small amount of time.
It was my duty now, I had to bring back Grace.
