Chapter 12

Grace's PoV

"Of course." I heard Dean mutter as the door to the bunker swung open and I ran off. I wasn't running from the fight, though, I was preparing. The demons wouldn't assume I was in the bunker so I had some time to get myself together. I hadn't had to deal with a demon since Daniel and with all that spinning in my head, I really needed to try and do this without spilling blood where possible. I ran into the room I'd stashed my hunting bag in; pulling out my marker, demon knife and small notebook. I got to work, drawing out a devils trap on the ceiling as I desperately balanced on a chair. I could hear the fights going on, punches and things smashing and demons sparking out, but I knew I had to focus and get this right if I was going to actually help instead of get myself killed. If I went at them with the knife, I knew it would remind me of Daniel and I'd lose focus, leaving myself open for injury or worse. I had to play this by the book. It sounded like there were loads of them too, probably all here by order of Lucifer to get any information on Kelly that they could. The truth was, I knew nothing so I'd be useless to them, but they knew that torturing one of the brothers would severely upset the other and that was probably how they'd play it. Evil and dirty. Once the drawing was finished, I turned the light off and snuck back round to the fight, ready to act.

"Hey guys, what's all the noise?" I shouted as I turned the corner, causing the fights to stop for a split second. Sam looked over at me with wide eyes as if questioning what I was doing. "Oh crap." I voiced as one of the demons ordered two of his buddies to get me. They began to run so I took off, heading into the dark room and skidding to a halt in the corner. The demons ran in without a second thought, suddenly stopping because they were trapped by my sigil on the ceiling. They looked up at it, growling at me as I pulled my notebook out and opened it at the dog-eared page. Memories flooded back of my failed exorcism of Daniel and I was going to make sure I didn't fail it this time. They were trapped this time and I, for once, was ready.

"Exorcizamus te, omnis immundus spiritus, omnis satanica potestas, omnis incursio infernalis adversarii, omnis legio, omnis congregatio et secta diabolica." I read out of my book confidently, the demons furious at what I was doing.

"You'll fail this just like you did with Daniel." One demon shouted, stopping me in my tracks. How did they know about that? I killed that demon. Was it common knowledge with all demons or did they fish that out on purpose? Could they read my thoughts? I hesitated for a second, my composure leaving me as I stuttered over the words, somehow suddenly unable to read what was in front of me. The demons mocked me, laughing at my stuttering mess.

"Daniel always thought you were pretty useless. We can read anyone we possess, get into their brains. He wasn't that fond of you." The second demon continued, hoping to stop me from finishing the exorcism completely.

"Felt sorry for you." The first added but by now it's just angered me, forcing me to complete this ritual so these demons could go to hell once and for all. Glaring from them back to my book, I continued.

"Ergo, omnis legio diabolica, adiuramus te." I read from my notepad, staying far away from them as they twitched and lashed out, desperate to get me as I exorcised them. Within a second, the demons flew out of the vessels and through a vent in the floor, leaving the bodies to drop like a sack of potatoes. I wasted no time in running back out there, sneaking into the middle of the room as I watched the demons overthrowing all three men. Dean was held up against a wall by this throat, his feet kicking out inches from the floor. Sam has a demon aiming his blade at him as he lay on the floor, the demon over him. Cass was being beaten to a pulp by another, all three unable to break free. I calculated the risk, working out if I could save every man before one got seriously injured, but I knew it wasn't going to happen. I only had one choice and it wasn't the one I wanted. I walked forwards, knife in one hand and notebook in the other. I was going to have to attract their attention with an exorcism. They'd stop fighting the men to take me down, and even if it was one, it'd free up one man to help the others. I glanced quickly at all three men, struggling yet all looking at me. I took a breath in. These guys needed to save the world, I didn't. If anyone was going to be killed, it'd better be me. I began again.

""Exorcizamus te, omnis immundus spiritus, omnis satanica potestas..." I shouted loudly, showing myself to the demons who all stopped for a moment and turned to me.

"Grace, no!" Sam called out but I ignored him and continued.

"omnis incursio infernalis adversarii..." All three demons were now running at me, attacking me as I fought them off with my knife. The men were quick to jump up, despite not being fully recovered, and threw themselves back to the demons to fight them. The exorcism had halted and one demon was furious, grabbing me and throwing me into a pillar, the pain radiating as I crumpled to the ground. The demon smiled at me as it grabbed me, his hand holding my jaw.

"Daniel says hi." He growled, freezing me where I sat. I was speechless, the memories quickly flashing back once more. "And now, just for poetic justice, I'm going to make you kill your friends again."
