(Y/n)'s POV
"Sigh" this is boring. I know Fuhrer said the license will be useful. But I never expected to be the first one here. It's been days and a lot of people have joined but only three stand out to me. One is the silver haired boy with the skateboard. When we locked eyes we could tell we were both dangerous. So we just didn't go near each other for now. Next is this guy with needles on his face. I don't know why but when I walked past him his aura reminded me of this fat kid who tried to kill me a few years back. Except there's one big difference. This one actually proposes some danger. And last was a guy who dressed like a clown. I recognized him from the bounty poster. Hisoka the magician. He's high up in the worlds top murderers and is in the current one hundred for largest bounty.

"Hey What's That kid doin here? He looks younger than gon," Someone said annoying me. I only turned my head slightly so I could see them from the corner of my eye but they couldn't tell I'm looking at them. "That kid is probably dangerous," a blonde kid next to the old guy who was talking to warned. "Really? How could you tell?" A kid with green spiky hair asked confused. "Look at the tag on his chest," the blonde kid instructed. When they did their eyes went wide. Most likely in shock. "How'd That kid get here first?!" Old guy exclaimed surprised. "Cool! I wonder what he's like?" Green hair said curious. "I don't know. But I would suggest avoiding hi-" blondey said But stopped when he realized green hair was already walking towards me. "Hi I'm Gon! What's your name?" The now named Gon said offering his hand to shake.

I inwardly chuckled at how polite the kid was acting despite the tense atmosphere. "My name's (y/n). It's a pleasure to meet you," I said smiling and accepting the handshake. He should keep me from being bored. "So how'd you get here first?" He asked nicely. "Same way you got here. The elevator," I replied sarcastically. "Pleassssse! I really want to know!" He complained making me laugh. "How about this. You complete the Hunters exam I'll tell you," I said shrugging. "Deal! I am so passing the exams now!" he replied smiling. "Oh. Let me introduce you to my friends. That man over there is Leorio. The one with blonde hair is kurapika," he introduced nicely. I calmly walked over and "Hello I'm (y/n). Gon already introduced you two. it's a pleasure to meet you," I said nicely.

"U-uh yeah. Nice to meet you as well," Leorio said quietly. "Greetings," is all kurapika said eying me cautiously. "So how old are you?" Leorio asked raising a brow. "Oh! I'm eight sir," I replied. "Really! Only eight and the first one here! You must be really strong for your age," Gon said excited. "Hey (y/n) why are you taking the Hunters exam?" Kurapika asked. "My youngest brother asked me to. Actually if I'm correct he'll be one of the examiners," I replied. "How is your youngest brother a examiner? Doesn't he have to be a hunter to be one?" Kurapika said straight faced while Leorio and Gon jaws to the ground at my reply. "Most of my siblings are hunters. I'm oldest by the way," I said shrugging.

"How many siblings do you have," Gon asked curiously. "Six younger siblings," I responded. "And you're the oldest!" Leorio said surprised. "Yes indeed," I said. But I noticed kurapikas eyes narrowed slightly when I said six. He's Pretty perceptive. I'll be sure to be cautious around him. Suddenly what sounded like a alarm clock rung threw the room causing us all to look at the wall opposite of the elevator. When the noise stopped the wall lifted up and revealed a man with a purple suit pink hair a distinct black mustache and no mouth was revealed.

"Apologies for the delay. Thank you for waiting. The acceptance period for hunter applicants is closed. So without further ado the hunter exam will now begin," the man said making me grin. He then gave a warning about how we could easily die and if we aren't willing to do it to exit threw the elevator. We waited a moment and no one left. "Very well. All four hundred and four applicants will be participating in phase one," he said before turning around and walking weirdly. We all followed silently as he went forward. "Yeah I didn't expect anyone to leave. But I'd hope a few would duck out at least," Leorio said after a moment of walking.

Next thing we know the people in front of us started going faster so we followed their example. "What's going on?" Leorio said as we everyone started to sprint including us. "I think the people in front of us started running," Gon explained. "Must mean he's picking up the pace," Kurapika concluded. "How rude of me. I forgot to introduce myself," The examiner said calmly. "My name is Satotz. I am the first phases examiner. The first phase is simple. All you have to do is follow me to the next phase," he explained.

Man . . . I hate running. So I decided to just stand straight with my hands in my pockets while I ride on my shadow instead of running. "Woah how you doin that?" Gon asked wide eyed. "Doing what?" I asked playing innocent. "Moving without moving," he said like what he said made sense. "But I am moving," I continued playing. "No you're not. You're standing still," He pointed out. "But I'm moving forward so therefore I am moving," I said smiling while he looked baffled.

It's been two hours and I'm guessing about ten percent of people have dropped out so far. It's been really boring so I just researched random people in the exam on my phone. And from what I can tell based on what I gathered of the people here I'm guessing that this year there's going to be a maximum of eight who pass. And that's being generous. suddenly I hear wheels to my left and I look over to see the silver haired kid from earlier on his skateboard.

"Hey kid! Show some respect for the exams! Quit using a skateboard that's cheating!" Leorio yelled annoyed at him. "How's That?" The kid asked. "This is an endurance test that's why!" Leorio responded. "No it's not," Gon said beside me catching both of their attention. "What are you babbling about now Gon?!" Leorio asked furious. "It's simple. The instructor said follow. So that's what we do. He doesn't care if it's by foot or horse," I said simply putting away my phone. "Wait a minute how are you even moving?!" He yelled realizing what I'm doin.

Suddenly the silver haired kid backed up so he's next to us. "Hey how old are you two?" He asked. "You first," I said innocently. "Twelve And eight," Gon said making me sweat drop. He seemed to ponder a moment before kicking up His skateboard and catching while still running. Gon seemed amazed while I just stared at him cautiously. "I think I'll run for awhile," he said simply. "Name's Killua," he said. "Hi I'm Gon!" Gon said excited. Ah what the hell I'm bored. Not like it's easy to kill me anyway. "(Y/n)," I said.

Another hour and Leorio suddenly stopped. Looks like his journey ends here, I thought. But suddenly Gon stopped so I decided to as well to see what he's doin. "Hey let's go. Just forget about him," Killua said calmly. Gon Just continued to look at Leorio with a calm expression. Suddenly Leorio bolted past us yelling "I'm passing this exam no matter what!!!!!"

Which surprised Me for his age. Gon smiled at that and used his fishing rod to pick up the suitcase Leorio dropped. "Wow! Think I can try that later on," Killua asked excited while we started running again and still rode on my shadow. "Only if you let me use your skateboard," Gon responded. "Care if I try those as well?" I asked. I never tried them before and these two got me curious. "only if you show me how you're running without running," Gon stated. "Deal," I said extending my shadow under them so it's carrying them as well. "Cool! It's like your own little vehicle," Killua said sitting down. "You gotta teach me to do this sometime," Gon said eyes twinkling. "Can't. Something's you're born with," I said making him pout.

After a few moments we saw a staircase leading up with no end in sight. "Hey you guys wanna race to the top?" Killua asked standing up. "Sure! Loser buys the others dinner!" Gon called. "Okay go!" I said pulling my shadow back making them stumble and rushing forward while laughing. "No fair!" Gon said catching up. "I am so gonna get you back later for that," Killua said calmly appearing on my other side. I just laughed and started up the stairs with them right beside me. Shortly after we caught up to Leorio and Kurapika. "See you at the finish line!" Gon said. "Hope you don't die," I said sweetly. "Yeah catch ya later old man!" Killua taunted making me laugh. "Hey I'm not old! Can't you tell I'm a teenager just like you!" He yelled. We all just stare at him dumbfounded. I thought he was around thirty!?!?

"What? No way," Gon said. I'm pretty sure he just spoke for everyone.

"Gotta tell ya Gon. I'm pretty impressed you're able to keep up with us," Killua voiced. "Really?" Gon said confused. "Or maybe everyone is so slow that this seems fast," I pointed out seeing how we're passing a lot of people who are passed out. "Man. I was hoping the exam would be more of a challenge. This is just boring," Killua said. "Hey Killua. Why do you wanna become a hunter?" Gon asked. "Who said I wanna be a hunter? I just heard the exam was challenging so I thought it'd be fun," Killua said smiling.

"What about you two?" Killua asked back. "My youngest brother asked me to," I said shrugging. "Why's That?" Killua asked. "For convenience," was my answer. "So how about you Gon?" I asked curious. "Well ya see. My dads a hunter. So I wanna be just like him!" He said with determination. "What kind of hunter is he?" Killua asked. "I don't know. I've never met him," Gon responded and me and Killua laughed while I looked at him like he was crazy.  "That's really weird. You wanna be just like him but don't even know anything about him," Killua said smiling. "That's why I'm here. To discover why he chose to be a hunter over staying with me," Gon said smiling. Suddenly we start seeing light at the end. We each smiled at each other before speeding up.

Almost.

There.

"GOAL!" We each yelled passing the examiner who was standing at the end. "Yay! I won!" Gon yelled. "No it was definitely me," I said crossing my arms. "What are you two talking about I finished first," Killua said matter of fact. "Satotz who won?" I asked. "You all crossed simultaneously," he said. "Okay. . . I'll buy Killuas dinner, Killua will buy (y/n)'s, And (y/n) will buy mine," Gon suggested. "That's stupid," I said plainly. "Hey mister Satotz is this where the second phase is?" Gon asked nicely. "No we still have a ways to go," Satotz informed making me sigh.

Short time later the rest of the group caught up and people started exiting the tunnel one by one. "Made it," Leorio said out of breath as he exited. Next came out Kurapika. "Hey Kurapika," Gon greeted. "Hey Gon. Is this the next exam sight?" Kurapika asked looking around. "No we still have a while to go," Gon informed. "Oh. I think the fog is lifting," Kurapika said. He was right. Looking around it seems to be a swamp. "The numere wetlands," Satotz started. "It is a place full of rare animals unique to this place. Many of them crave humans flesh and use deceit to get it. So please be careful. If you are deceived you will surely die," Satotz warned.
Third POV
Suddenly the doors to the tunnel started to close. "Wait! Don't close yet!" A man said out of breath just as they closed. What just happened and what Satotz said put a heavy toll on everyone making them all nervous except for a select few individuals. "These wetland creatures are not to be underestimated. They will use every trick there is to trick their prey," Satotz said furthering everyone's nervousness. "This is an ecosystem where every creature hunts threw the art of deception. That is also why it is called swindlers swamp. Now please follow me closely so that you are not deceived," he said turning around. "Pah. If we know there gonna deceive us who would fall for it," Leorio said grinning.

"Don't fall for it!" A desperate cry yelled to the side of the door. "Look didn't I say we weren't gonna fall for it," Leorio said looking at the source. But what he saw instantly shut him up. "Don't let him fool you. He's lying. That man is lying to you!" An injured man coming from the side of the exit said pointing at Satotz confusing the crowd. "He's an impostor. A total fraud," The man continued while Satotz looked indifferent. "I'm the real Examiner. You got it," The man explained. "Imposter? What's going on here?" Leorio asked confused. "Then who's the real one?" Hanzo a bald man in a ninja uniform with rounded shoulders and a red scarf asked. "I'll prove it to you. Look at this!" The man said dragging what looked like a monkey but had the same face and mustache as Satotz into view surprising everyone.

"This is a man faced ape from the swindler swamp. The man faced ape loves the taste of human flesh. But their limbs are really weak. So they dress up and use human speech to trick humans into the swamp and team up with other animals to kill them. And now he's trying to deceive the entire hunter applicant pool!" He accused. "Basturd," Leorio said quietly. "That explains why he doesn't walk like a normal human," Hanzo said smiling. Suddenly the mysterious man froze up while Satotz stepped to the side quickly. A second later the man split in half while the crowd looked dumbfounded. Out of the blue they heard clapping and looked at the source to see (y/n) clapping slowly with an horrifying look on his face.

"Bravo to the apes performance," he said calmly. "But now we know who the real examiner is," he continued putting his hands in his pockets while everyone was confused. Suddenly the ape the fake examiner was dragging opened it's eyes and scampered away. "All examiners in these tests will be high ranking Hunters who were handpicked. If they they couldn't dodge that then they're really not worthy to be here," (y/n) said nicely. "I'll take that as a compliment. But if you are to attack me again for any reason I will have choice but to disqualify you. Is that clear?" Satotz warned. "Crystal," (y/n) said smiling like a kid again. Everyone looked at him in fear and stepped back in caution.

Suddenly they heard cawing and looked over to see vulture like birds eating the two halves of the imposter. "Nature can be so brutal. It's hard to watch," Leorio said. "So he was a man faced ape as well," Kurapika muttered. "He was trying to confuse you and lure some of you away. Attempts like these are to be expected. Do expect to see tricks as these three out the trek. I must assume a number of you were fooled into suspecting my identity," Satotz said. Leorio and Hanzo looked guilty at that. "Please be aware that if any of you are to lose sight of me you will not reach the second phase. And will most likely perish. Now let's begin. Please follow me," Satotz ordered beginning to walk with many reluctant to follow.
