"The most dangerous thing in the world is ourselves, for nobody truly knows our intentions, and sometimes... Even we don't know our own intentions..."

As soon as Sakura had reached the car, she immediately pulled out her phone and sent a quick text out to a friend.

As she frantically hit the 'send' button, her breathing hitched as she winced at her own memory. She pressed her back towards the metallic surface and raised a pale hand to the side of her now tear-stained face. She slid down so that she was sitting on the heated asphalt. Sure it stung a little, but Sakura didn't care at the moment.

She let out soft, quiet sobs as she pictured the young man's face once again: His then-translucent skin, the tentacles that germinated through the bottom of his skull. The pure horror and pain plastered in his eyes and over his face.

And yet again, there was that brief moment where she did not quite understand what she felt- The constant presence of as if she didn't want anything to do with the man, but she didn't hate him.

It was... Something new.

Sakura was never the same after The Burnings. The sharp corner that her head had struck caused her to gain Motus Iactura Amnesia- More commonly known as Emotion Amnesia, which causes the patient to suffer from the lack of capacity to retain what 'Emotions' are. Instead, she is forced to write down each and every new feeling she experiences, only for it to be stated as an emotion.

And no matter what she had done to retain these emotions, she could never ever again fully remember what such feelings other than boredom are.

She was forced to record each and everytime she feels something, in hopes that one day, she will retain each of these events. But her psychiatrist highly doubts this.

He stated that the damage done to her brain was supposed to leave her brain was supposed to leave her brain dead, and her life should've ended that day.

But Life wasn't done with her. Her brain cells had repaired themselves, all except for the hippocampus, what damage done to that would be there for life.

Even if she had miraculously survived and healed, Sakura knew that she'd never be the same.

"Did you feel something new today?" inquired a new voice.

Sakura turned to look at the owner of the voice. She sighed lightly before replying "I guess so..." She used a sleeve to wipe her face.

"What was it like this time?" He placed a hand on her white locks.

"I don't know how to describe it," she pulled out a pencil and a notebook, and began to write as she continued, "I saw something, and I began to feel my heart race... It was-"

"Like you didn't like it?"

"No, it was like I wanted to get as far as possible from it..."

"You want to know what that is?" Sakura nodded her head slightly, keeping her gaze straight.

"I've never felt this way since The Burnings... I've forgotten what 'emotions' are."

"That feeling Sakura, is Fear- the Primal Instinct of 'I need to get away before I-"

"I get it..." she chuckled, snapping her notebook shut.

"Well," said the boy standing up, "Do you want to head back in?"

Sakura froze on the spot. She didn't think too much on this, so she decided to dwell on the thought for a bit.

"I think I'm fi-"

"Oh come on, theres the last ten to twenty minutes of school, have a LITTLE bit of a large grin at least!" He held out a hand, "Please? For me?"

Sakura let out a sigh, "Fine," she stated, "But you promise that this'll be fun?" She put more emphasis on the word fun.

"Yes, I promise." Sakura then grabbed his hand, and she was pulled back to her feet.

"What's the plan?" she inquired.

"Simple," he held her hand tighter, "We are going to the gym."

"Why the gym?" She smiled at him. "I found something cool with it..." He began to tug at her hand.

Sakura had then at that moment found herself smiling at this young man, yet this time seemed... Different somehow. The young man could tell that she was confused. He grinned at her as he asked "Whats wrong?" When he had already known what the problem was.

"I feel weird..." was all she said.

"Don't we all feel weird at one point or another?" came his reply.

"Come on," she playfully punched his shoulder, "Don't leave me hanging."

"Then tell me what you are feeling."

"I'm not sure... I think I want to find this out for myself."

"Oh come on, you want me to help you one minute then the next you want this?"

"I'm sure..."

"Is that a challenge missy?"

"Why it is... Well for me, at least... It'd be great if I can figure out ONE 'emotion' by myself Dominic." she frowned and pulled her hand from Dominic's.

He sighed. "You really sure about this?""Yeah, I'm pretty sure." she remarked, Dominic chuckled. "That's not funny." She puffed her cheeks out.

"No, I think it is."

"Come on then, what were you going to show me?"

Yugo was sure to be careful with the now slumbering Melissa as he kept a firm grip on the chair, feeling the slick rubber underneath his finger. He let out a sigh, and reached into his hoodie and pulled out the small, circular clock.

He locked his gaze upon the said pendant. He continued to stroll to the cafeteria as he turned it in his hand, examining the glassy surface as he traced his thumb over the face of the clock.

He slowed his pace to a halt, and he looked at the door, then to Melissa.

"We're here." He broke the silence.

Melissa replied, quite preturbed, "Are you sure?" She seemed a bit exhausted, and pale for that matter, "Why the cafeteria?"

"Well, that's what the slip says." Yugo scratched the back of his head.

"How do you know?"

"What do you mean?" Yugo seemed nervous.

"I mean earlier, you seemed to understand-"

"Let's just get this over with." He just ignored her and walked over to the door. He brought his closed fist to the door three times.

Suddenly, the door was swung open and the principal peered through the gap.

"They've been waiting too long." he said, his gaze shifting between the duo.

"Whose 'They?'" Melissa inquired.

"Take the elevator. B4."

"Okay then. I-" she seemed to drag on the okay.

"Well," Yugo broke Melissa off, "Let's not keep 'Them' waiting." He chuckled shyly and begun to push the the chair past the principal and towards the elevator.

"Good luck in there... You'll need it." the principal said right when Yugo pressed the button.

Yugo turned his and smiled at the principal before pressing the button. The doors slid open and he pushed the chair inside. He let the doors slide shut, they emitted a slight creaking noise as they done so.

He let his eyes wander over the many buttons that were arranged in a not-so-orderly fashion.

"How hard is it to find a single button?" he said frustrated.

"Here." Melissa said as she pressed the lowest button. The elevator began to descend into the lower floors.

"Oh. Thanks," he complimented, his face riddled with embarrassment, "How could I miss that?"

She used a hand to stifle the ever-growing laughter that began to build up within her, but instead it turned into a cough.

"I'm fine." she said after she waited several seconds, much to his dismay.

The duo felt the elevator slow down to an unsteady halt, nearly knocking Yugo completely off of his feet if it weren't for the wheelchair Melissa was in. "That was... Strange." he muttered, a tone of question in his voice.

The doors slid open, revealing what seemed to be an underground chemistry lab. People in large hazmat suits roamed around, lugging giant barrels of glowing rocks, to which seemed familiar; Men in black armored suits that stood upright, in certain spots, and a pair of them stood in front of a black metallic case that stretched out for several hundred feet; and what seemed to be large boilers, but in fact they weren't, but it was what was inside the boiler that caught their attention.

"Intriguing, aren't they?" said a voice from behind.

Yugo turned to look at the voice's owner. "Yeah, I guess... What are they?"

"We don't really know. They were people, but for now, we call them Gelman."

"'Were people? What happened?"

"We found one near the Chestnut Cemetery. We at first thought that it was alien, but alas we found that it contained DNA. That of a young man, who has a cemetery worker. And so we went there, and discovered this." With a gloved hand, he picked out a glowing, bright green rock.

"What is it?"

"Filled with questions, aren't you?" he ruffled Yugo's spiky reddish-brown hair, "We learned that this is Renegus, or more commonly known as 'Dirty Soul.' When a person dies, their soul is trapped. Once the body decomposes, their body is replaced by dirt, and it becomes the new host for the soul."

"Really?" Yugo looked at Melissa a bit fearfully, "Can they be colored?"

"Colored? Why that's simple, yes they can." Yugo reached out and swiped the rock, he turned his back at the man and towards Melissa, who pulled out her very own necklace.

"H-H-Hoi! Don't touch that! Give that to me!" The man swiped the rock back.

"What's wrong?"

"We've uh... Where's the Marshall?" He grabbed the closest person.

"He's uh... Busy with another..." Came their reply.

"Get him now! We may have a Compromise!" The other's eyes widened before he ran off in the opposite direction.

"What's happening?" Yugo asked, worry beginning to creep it's way into his voice.

"Well... Um..." The man started, "How do I put this?"

"Put what?" Melissa seemed to get agitated a bit.

"You're both in danger." said a new voice.

"Marshall sir!" the man saluted him.

"You can go in now. She's ready." The man nodded and marched off.

"Uh, excuse me, what did you mean by 'We're in danger?'" Yugo asked.

"So you're knowledgeable but you don't know the most basic thing about Renegus?"

"Does it look like it?" Melissa replied, a tone of disrespect in her voice.

"Point taken. Follow me." He turned and began to walk towards a large steel door. The duo looked at each other and just shrugged.

Yugo began to push the chair towards where the Marshall had gone to, where he was waiting. He pushed a button, and the elevator went down.

"Question: Why is there a basement beneath the school?" Yugo asked, breaking the silence.

"Because this school was built to be the town bomb shelter." the Marshall replied. There was a loud ding, and the doors opened, reveling a long hallway, with many doors. "Step inside here." he opened the door, and Yugo complied. There was a dark metal table, with chairs around it, which made it resemble  an interrogation room. "Sit down." he invited. Yugo again complied as silence filled the room, rolling Melissa next to him in the process.

"Why are we here?" Yugo inquired, growing restless.

"Well, to put it simply, we have proof to believe that you children, among others, are linked to The Burnings."

"What does that mean? We were only ten back then, what's it to you?" Melissa replied.

"Based on what we know about you guys, your families are connected to them after all. But in order to understand that, we must cover some history."

"History? Of what?"

"More like who. Jean Persuary to be exact." the Marshall paced around the table as he said so, "Jean Persuary, Occupation: Alchemist, Wife: Fiona Wentworth Persuary, Children: Nineteen kids, whom of which he treasured dearly. When he was nearing his unfortunate death, Jean was indeed working on a project. A project for his eighteen kids, one of which he never knew about, as it was a twin.  It was dubbed 'Project Godsend', for belief that it was linked to the gods and goddesses of various mythologies."

"And why was it dubbed this?" Yugo inquired further as he leaned forward.

"It was said to obtain the powers of the gods themselves, in the form of jewels, tied on strings."

Yugo gulped. "So, again... Why are we here?" He tried to hide the growing nervousness in his throat. Tried being the key word.

"We looked into it. You guys are the closest thing we have to his family. Pray tell, are there any secret gems in your family? My condolences for six years ago."

"Our family told us nothing about gems like that." Yugo lied, much to the surprise of Melissa, who warily glanced over to him. Yugo inwardly hoped that the Marshall and Melissa would believe that he didn't know about the project. He then cast Melissa a somewhat reassuring smile.

"I see. Are you sure?"

"Yes, we were only beginning to learn our history at that mansion, let alone Project Godsend."

"If that's the case, then you are free to go. We'll continue to keep in touch with The Burnings."

"Thanks. Well, see you later..."

"Marshall Marcus D. Johansmith." Melissa's eyes widened as she recognized the surname.

"Thanks, we'll be going now." Yugo wheeled the chair out. Yugo saw her grip tighten on the wheelchair and rolled out as fast as he could.

When they had exited the cafeteria, he stopped. "What is it?" he asked her.

"The surname... It's the exact same as Bertrand's..."

Silence had fallen over the duo as the final bell echoed throughout the halls.
