Chapter 7
Victoria's POV
"What happened?" I asked.
"Apparently the DF doesn't want to let me go so I was given a choice," he said with a sigh.
"What are your choices?" I asked but I didn't know if I wanted to find out the answer.
"Either I convince you to go home, safely. Or they get rid of you permanently," he explained. I could see the worried look in his eyes.
"I guess we don't have a lot of choices," I said.
"There must be another way. I don't want to loose you again. Maybe we should run," Jaydan said.
"No, we are not running. If we run now, we will never stop running. I think I should go home. Atleast then we will both be safe," I said.
"You're right. But Vic, I will find a way out of this," Jay said as he pulled me in a hug.
"No, we'll find a way out of this," I reassured him.

It was late afternoon the following day when Jaydan drove me to the airport. We were sad to part ways, but we knew there wasn't anything else we could do about it. His boss threatened my life and I wasn't going to stick around to find out whether he was a man of his word.
Jaydan clutched my hand tightly all the way to the airport and I could understand his reluctance to let me go. We only just found each other again and now we were forced apart once again.
I got my plane ticket before Jaydan and I waited for my flight number to be called. Jaydan clutched my hand for dear life and I knew he felt the same way that I did. A few minutes later a woman's called out, flight BD2134 now boarding.
I gave Jaydan a sad look before he walked me to the terminal. There we said our goodbyes.
"See you soon," he whispered. I nodded because I didn't trust my voice. I hugged him again before I turned around and headed to the airplane. Not knowing when I'll see Jaydan again.

Jaydan's POV
Later that night when I was watching the news in my hotel room a sudden report flashed over the screen and I felt the breath leave my lungs.
Flight BD2134 from London to New York has crashed earlier this evening. Authorities are still busy investigating the reason for this crash. 34 people have been confirmed dead...
"What are you watching?" I heard Victoria asked as she came from the bathroom drying her freshly coloured blonde hair. A look of pure shock covered her features as she saw the headlines.

Victoria's POV
I was beyond shocked when I saw that the flight I was supposed to be on crashed. A few hours before we headed to the airport Jaydan got this strange feeling and he didn't want me to leave his sight. I didn't want to leave him either, but my life was on the line. But then we came up with a plan. What if we pretended that I got on the plane.
Jaydan bought a blonde wig and he gave me one of his suitcases. We pretended to great each other and then I boarded the plane. After I placed my suitcase above my seat I took the duffel bag with the blonde wig to the airplane's bathroom. In the bathroom I placed the wig over my hair and changed into a flight attendants uniform.
With duffel bag in hand I waited until the other flight attendant was distracted before I slipped out of the plane. In the airport I acted like I was a flight attendant that returned from one of her flights and I kept my head down to ensure that nobody recognised me.
Outside the airport I grabbed a taxi and I headed to a different hotel where I was booked in under a pseudo name. Jaydan and I came up with a foolproof plan, but what we didn't expect was that the plane was going to crash.
"Did you suspect this?" I asked Jaydan.
"No, I thought he was going to apprehend you at New York's airport. Not something like this," Jaydan said as he shook his head.
"Do you think he was behind it?" I asked.
"Yes, but there is no proof," Jaydan said.
"He killed 33 people just because of me," I said as guilt overtook me.
"No," Jaydan said as he took my face in his hands, "he killed 33 people for his own wicked reasons, you were just one of the intended victims, I'm just glad that we had a plan to get you of that plane. I don't know what I would've done if you were really on that flight. I would've probably killed him right now." He said his pulled me in a hug.
We were both shocked by the recent events. How could someone who made an oath to protect people kill a whole plane full people so carelessly?

The next morning I was still struggling to deal with the thought that a whole plane of people died on the plane I was supposed to be on. It could've been a coincidence, but as a detective the one thing I realised was that there was no such thing as coincidences.
As I was walking to the bathroom I caught a glimpse of my reflection, my natural brown hair was replaced with blonde and I looked like a brand new person. Jaydan bought the hairdye to ensure that no one recognised me. It was also a lot shorter and only reached my shoulders. I felt like a fugitive on the run. This was not how I imagined things would turn out. The plan was simple, get Jay, go back home and carry on with life, but now we were in a pickle.
The situation was very bad and I didn't know what to do. The whole world thought I was dead. The morning news had listed all the names of the people that lost their lives. My family thought that I was dead and there was no way to reassure them. Jaydan told me to leave my phone on the plane incase someone was tracking the signal.
The last thing I told my mom was that I found Jay, but before we could return home we had a few things to sort out. But now she thought I was dead. Everyone thought I was dead. Now I realised how helpless Jaydan must have felt when he was kept hostage by Alec.
It was by lunch time when Jaydan came by and he was fuming. I don't think I've ever seen him so mad before.
"Calm down, Jay. Tell what is wrong," I said as I stood in front of him to stop his pacing.
"He did it Vic! He was responsible! And you know the best part?! He acted so sincere and sorry for my loss! I could see it in his eyes as he denied it. He might not have been directly involved but he was responsible. I can't believe I looked up to that man! He was like a second father and I trusted him. I thought he would understand!" He said. He was angered beyond reason at this man's actions.
"I'm so sorry, Vic," he said and I gave him a comforting hug.
"It's not your fault. We didn't know he was capable of doing something like this. Besides it is partly my fault. If I didn't come here your life wouldn't have been disrupted and none of those people would've died," I said.
"No, Vic. I know things have turned out for the worst, but if it wasn't for you I wouldn't have known what type of man my boss was. I love you, Vic. My life would never be the same without you," He said and gave me a kiss.
"Now we only need to come up with a plan to get out of this mess," I said and I knew that together we would find a way out of this.
