Chapter 10

(Chris's P.O.V.)

Jen was in the back seat of the car passed out with her headphones on. Nighttime had come and gone in a blur and I still wasn't sleepy. I heard her mutter something about mom and I frowned. Was she having another nightmare about their death? Shrugging it off I opened the small box at my feet. Then I pushed in a tape of songs by Led Zeppelin. Cranking up the sound I glanced in the mirror. Jen's head snapped up and she sat straight up slamming her head on the roof of the car. I saw her grab her head and most likely groan. Blinking, Jen climbed over the seat and into the passenger side.

"What the hell were you thinking? You bloody bitch." I laughed and replied.

"Oh your just blooming mad because I thought of it and you did exactly what I wanted you to do." Rolling my eyes I watched as Dean's car glided to a stop of the side of the road. Interested I did the same.

"What are they doing?" I shrugged and turned the car off. Stepping out we walked over to the brothers and asked.

"What's going on? Why did we stop?" Dean ran a hand through his hair and nodded to his brother. Sam pulled out a laptop and showed us the screen. It was hard to see with the sun glinting off it, but we could still read it. "So a friend of yours is worried because her brother was convicted of murder even though she's sure that he's innocent?" Sam nodded.

"I really think that we should go and help her out. Becky and her brother Zack are good friends of mine." I nodded.

"Your right, we should help our friends when they need help so that they will help us when we need help." Jen stated rubbing her shoulder.

"Where would we be going?" I asked.

"St. Louis." Dean answered.

"Alright, but if we want to make it there soon, we'll have to leave now." Walking back to our car I heard Jen sigh. Instead of getting in the passenger side she sat in the back with a knife and a wet wipe. "I know that your thinking about Nolan." Anger flashed in her green eyes and she glared.

"So what if I am!?" She snapped.

"You do know that it isn't your fault, right?" She scoffed.

"Right, not my fault. You know before we left him to go pursue that changeling he practically begged me to stay and help him get over his sister's death. Did we stay? No! We waved good-bye, said good luck, and then ran off like children to go looking for that monster. Do you remember what we found when we got back home? Do you!?" I sighed.

"Yes." I replied quietly. It was Nolan, strung up like pasta in his own home. He had been murdered just like his sister. Upon seeing this Jen had closed into her self shooting anything that angered her. She had recently recovered  and I really didn't want to reopen any wounds. I started the car and followed Dean and Sam as Jen cried quietly in the back.

(Jenny's P.O.V.)

By the time that we got to St. Louis I was exhausted, we stopped at a small store and went inside. I was still feeling down and quickly ran over to the ice cream section. I snatched up the nearest vanilla tub and then turned and hurried over to the guy at the counter.

"That'll be five seventeen." I slammed six dollars on the counter and stormed out of the building. Rummaging around in the glove box I found a clean spoon and started to eat the gloriously sweet and cold ice cream. Chris came out after me holding two fully loaded hot dogs along with a brownie. In the crook of her arms were two thirty-ounce sodas. Taking a hot dog and a soda I placed them on the hood of the car and slid off. Rummaging around in the glove box again I found a small cup and another clean spoon. Sitting down I scooped up some ice cream for her and handed it over.

"Thanks." She replied. I sighed and took a sip of my soda. Sprite. I laughed to myself. She knew me so well, and yet I turned around and yelled at her for something that hurt her more than it did me. Nolan had been her best friend and him and his sister were like family to us. Together Nolan and her were inseparable, they did everything together. Target practice, detention, and even got over the hardest things they had faced. But instead of being the older sister and taking charge of the situation I broke. I fell into a dark hole of despair and never wanted to leave.

"I'm really sorry for yelling at you." I said hanging my head.

"It's alright, I just want to keep all of this blooming bad stuff buried in the past where it belongs." We smiled at each other and I leaned close. Because none of this sappy stuff was going to help in the future I burped right in her face. "Oh god! That was horrid! Oh lord!" She cried. We both laughed and I finished the hot dog.

"I'll drive." I told her just as Sam pulled up next to us. Dean stepped out of the car and I wiggled my eyebrows at Chris. She groaned and reached across the car and slapped my arm. I faked an injury and pretended to die. Dean raised and eyebrow at my behavior and Chris and I chuckled.

"Sammy here was just telling me that he found the address of his friends' house." I nodded and plopped down in the drivers seat.

"Alright, just lead the way and we'll follow you." Dean nodded and went back to him car tossing us another bewildered look.

.   .   .

Sam led us across town and to Becky's house. When Sam knocked she let us in, although she glared at Chris and I.

"I didn't know that you both had girlfriends now." Sam's face reddened and I shoved my hand in her face.

"Miranda Foster, parole officer, my associate Allison Radison and I are here to make sure that these two boys won't get into anymore trouble. After that fiasco in London, we won't be letting them to of our sight any time soon." I gave Becky an artificial smile and she seemed stunned. Sam gave a nervous chuckle and I heard Chris snort behind me. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Dean roll his eyes, but I noticed a smile creeping at the corner of his mouth.

"Actually, this is Jen and Chris Remington, they'll be helping us with catching whoever is really behind the killing of Zach's girlfriend." Sam stated killing all the fun. All of a sudden her face went smug and she smirked at me. Excuse me, but was she trying to pick a fight. When no one was paying attention I stuck my tongue out at her. She sniffed at me and then went all business.

Everything was explained and I was starting to get the idea that maybe the Becky could just be lying. Maybe it was because I was starting to hate her. Chris nodded and motioned for me to follow her.

"Go grab your journal from the car and see if we have anything in there that could be responsible for being in two places at once." I nodded and slipped out of the house. As I walked over to the car and grabbed my journal I saw something move. My hand shot to my Colt Mustang as my eyes scanned the area. Near the parking lot across the street something flashed by then disappeared.
