Better Lock It In Your Pocket

"Where are you!?" Raph wasn't sure if there was even a point of screaming at the beast that had attacked two of his brothers. It wasn't like it seemed very talkative while it was trying to bite Mikey's head off, but the unnecessary use of his lungs was making him feel better. "Get out here so I can rip your tail off and feed it to you; you brother-napping, ugly, cowardly little-"

Another howl ripped through the air and Raph spun around and charged towards it in an instant; fighting to track the sound as it faded into the night. The need for vengeance and for his missing brother to be alive and intact had him alert and absolutely furious, emerald glare traveling his surroundings as he ran, preparing himself for a sneak attack like that which had befallen both his younger brothers.

"I'm right here!" He snapped when the beast didn't reveal itself, his hands tightening around his sais. "Why don't you come and get-!?"

"...Raph...?"

"Donnie!?" The hothead came to a full stop and practically slammed headfirst into a tree in his path, his arm scrapping the trunk as he avoided collision. He ignored the spike of pain and scanned his surroundings for the direction the weak voice had called from, his heart pounding so hard that he swore anyone within a few feet of him could have heard it. "Donnie!?"

"Raph..."

He was running again and practically lost his balance when he came to a sudden drop, the hothead taking three more seconds of contemplation before his brother's timid voice sent him popping into his shell and sliding down the ditch. He was back on his feet when he reached the bottom and shoved through the dense underbrush of the area to finally spot his missing brother curled up next to a tree trunk, dazed autumn gaze rounded with fear and pain.

"Donnie!" He dropped by his side and quickly spotted the deep scarlet wound that revealed a bitten shoulder, his inside flipping at how much blood covered his skin and plastron.

His younger brother shakily reached out to grab his wrist, the hothead glancing down at the frigid touch and then back up, meeting his terrified gaze again. "Raph! Raph- there's- there's something out there- It's- black- grabbed me- teeth- and it-"

"I know, Don." Raph reassured gently, hoping to quell some of his obvious fear. "The beastie rushed off. Let's get you back to the farmhouse before it comes back."

His younger brother just stared at him for a long moment and then he nodded weakly, allowing the hothead to wrap an arm around his shell and pull him to his feet. Careful not to jostle his shoulder, Raph was able to lead him forward until they came to the drop he'd slid down, his eyes narrowing with anxiety and thought.

He had a bad feeling that if Donnie could have climbed back up the drop; he already would have. Which meant that going back the way they came was not an option.

The last thing the hothead wanted was to get them lost in the dense, dark forest with a dangerous beast lurking about and waiting for the right moment to catch them off guard; its goal was to leave them worse off than just a bitten shoulder and scraped up shell. His only option seemed to be to wait and hope that Leo would have an idea when he finally caught up.

Raph set his younger brother down and then knelt by his side, unnerved by the way Donnie barely seemed to acknowledge the movement.

He'd noticed how exhausted he'd been when he'd come back from sticking the weirdo store owner in the van; the genius looked like he'd been ready to pass out all evening. It was one of the reasons why he'd forced them all to spend the night in the living room, much to Leo's and Donnie's obvious annoyance.

His lack of proper sleep thanks to bad habits and recent dream beaver, life-stealing issues must have been catching up with him, and this was absolutely not the best time for him to take a nap.

"You're gonna have to stay with me, Don." Raph warned quickly as he undid the wrap on his wrists and then pressed them against the larger wounds on his mangled shoulder; his younger brother wincing at the pressure. "You're losin' a lot of blood here."

Donnie stared at him as though he was speaking one of the languages that he didn't know and then shivered as a gust of wind attacked them even as low as they were, the hothead instinctively pulling him closer and wrapping an arm around his younger brother to thaw him.

The shivering genius immediately leaned into the warm embrace and the hothead carefully studied his eyes to make sure they didn't shut, his heart racing as an angry howl erupted in the distance.

He seriously hoped Leo and Mikey found them before it did.
