End of it all

(Tom's POV)

I slowly open up my eyes, moments still fresh in my mind. I stare blankly into the darkness plaguing my vision.
"That was a fun trip down memory lane, right?" Kov purrs, still reminiscing.
"Yeah, thanks a lot." I reply sarcastically. "Fun, watching Tord crying over my near-dead body."
"You liked it! Besides, you accepted my invite to watch with me."
"I was bored!"
"But you didn't have to stay."

"Whatever," I scoff. "Where are my goggles?" I ask into the darkness. Kov controls my hand and grabs the device.
"There you go, Tommy~" He coos.
"It's kinda weird not hearing you call me 'host' anymore." I mumble.
"What's this? Do you miss our old ways?" Kov asks. "I could always start up again if you wanted me to~"
"I don't care. Do what you want." I mutter, putting my goggles up to my face and strapping them around my head.

I feel around the side of the block on my face, brushing over the small switch. I click it on and a loading bar appears in the darkness. I wait a few moments before my vision opens up into the view of my living quarters. Grey and dreary.
"Sad you don't need me for sight anymore.." Kov mockingly mourns.
"And yet you're still here." I respond with a smirk, receiving an offended gasp in return.

"Are you saying you don't enjoy my company? Rude!" Kov whines.
"Maybe..." I drag out the word, teasingly.
"You're mean..."
"Thanks, I know." I reply with a grin, getting up from my bed, and adjusting my tie. My radio on the nightstand crackles to life, a message incoming.

"Thomas, report to Red Leader's office at once."
"Ugh, they make it sound so urgent." I roll my digital eyes as I walk out of my living quarters, making my way down to R.L.'s office. I pass by fellow soldiers, those including Yuu, Yanov, Pat, Pau, and of course, A.K. I greet them all with a smile and a nod, receiving a few waves back.

"They're probably off to get themselves in trouble again." Kov says with a snicker.
"As they always do." I respond with a smile, nearing toward Tord's office. Opening the door up, I take notice of him at his desk.
"You called me, sir?" I ask.
"Yes, Thomas, I have an assignment for you." He says, staring down at a file.

"What is it?"
"Well, we have an attack coming up on the Rebellion, remember?" He asks, looking up at me with a one eye.
"Mhm, in approximately a week."
"I need you to use your...abilities, to wipe them out more effectively." He hums. "Think you can do that?" I smirk at him.
"Of course, sir." I respond with a grin.

"Hey! Don't take all the credit for yourself!" Kov whines.
"Fine-" I mutter. "Kovom and I can do that. A simple task."
"Perfect! Oh- I also need you to oversee the trainees, I heard Pau has been having a rough time disciplining them."
"Yes, sir."
"Dismissed." I walk out of the office, towards the training grounds where I hear rookies complaining about the exercises.

"General! They're too hard..." a recruit complains to Pau.
"Suck it up! You're in the Red Army now, deal with it." He growls, A.K. nodding at his side,
"But—"
"You heard him." I say smoothly, walking towards Pau. "This is what you signed up for, so you better shut it and get back to work."

The trainee grumbles and walks back to the track, joining the others in their slow-ass 'jogging'.
"Jehovah- they're so slow." I mumble.
"We tried to get them to run faster." Pau responds, pointing a thumb at A.K. and his AK-47.
"Didn't work." He sighs, A.K. licks his lollipop.

"Maybe I could try?" I suggest. Pau shrugs.
"Go for it."

"Are you suggesting what I hope you're suggesting?" Kov asks, excited.
"Of course," I respond with a grin. "You ready?"
"Ready as I'll ever be~" he purrs as the familiar transformation begins.
