Cornucopia

It was a volcano arena.

Sage ran as fast as he could to the cornucopia. It was easy for him being among the fastest there. He grabbed a dagger. He wasn't the only one wanting it.

Jade was coming. She quickly ran to get it. He lunged at her, but she blocked it and she nearly stabed him. Once he didn't it again she dodged, but it cut her arm so badly she got a backpack and ran. She ran into one of the carriers. Jade was quick but she was quicker. As she fell, the first cannon boomed.

"One less tribute, one less problem," he said to himself as he watched Orchid run to the rest of the carrers with a knife and a backpack. He grabbed three more daggers, and accidently leaving the last one.

He ran till he hit a huge volcano. He decided to setup camp there.

'People used to live ON volcanos. Maybe I could only go here for a night,' he thought. 'When I get up in the morning, I'll hunt down some of the weakest. I'll look for a stream, go to bed, and hunt for people who got a lower score than me. Then the good people, then the carriers. Then I win.' The thought brought joy to him as he left to look for a stream.

The capital's volcanoes were not normal volcanoes, so little did he know sleeping next to one was a bad idea.

"Jade! Jade!" Jaden called. "Do you have the daggers!" He came across a blood stained spot. "Oh-no," he said, as he saw hair from the only redhead with long hair in the games. In the Capitol he saw his dad as an avox, and now his sister, all of his protection, his only friend, was gone.

"Jade."

He would have cried till he died of thirst or murder, if someone hadn't found him.

"Hey, you. You ok?" The girl with freckles said. He decided not to answer. She spotted the red hair. "I'm sorry. If there's anything I can do for you, let me know. I'm Rose by the way," She said.

"Jaden. If you could join me, I would be so much more likely to get far." She smiled

"Sure," She said, her smile growing wider than her braids are long. He couldn't help noticing she had a knife. "I think I have a good enough spot for both of us. Nice and dry for a fire. Even has palm trees to lay by for shade. There it is. I found it when I was running," she said, "I even spotted a pond nearby, which is great for water."

"Thanks." Jaden said teary-eyed. He went to a tree and sat. He thought about Jade. She would want to play tag, he said no. Ring around the rosy, no. They were so close, he wished he spent more time with her. Life in the games sucks.

Keller spotted wire. He ran for it. He needed that wire for an invention.

"Boo!" Toriel said. He could see Landon, Amber and Zane running into each other in the distance. A cannon boomed and Zane was on the floor Shailee was smirking next to him. It just occurred to him Toriel was holding up a knife.

"Why do you want wire?" He asked.

"I don't. I want one less tribute." As she lunges a a cannon is heard and she is picked up with a knife in her head. Keller felt bad, even if she was going to kill him.

He sees Louis looking sad with no more knife and a spear. He found the person guilty of murder. However, he probably felt more guilty himself.

Luckily, Keller runs away alive with a lot of wire.

Noone lives forever. Toriel just died sooner than most. But she did get one less tribute, just not how she expected.

Norah ran to the woods. He couldn't run for long. He screamed. His leg got caught in a tree trunk.

"Help!" He yelled at the top of his lungs, not caring if the careers heard him. "Help!"

However, It wasn't The careers who heard him, but another twelve-year-old smart enough to get him out. Wyatt was only a few yards away.

Soon enough, the boy came running toward him.

"Maybe if I pulled his leg one way, then the other really fast, I might be able to get him out." He thought.

"No offense, but did you run here to help me or taunt me!"

"I'm plotting." He demanded.

"You, you're gonna kill me!" Norah said afraid.

Wyatt rolled his eyes and pulled him rapidly. When he came out, Norah spoke:

"Oh, that type of plotting." He laughed. "Thanks. Now, where should we stay smarty pants."

"Did you say we?" He asked.

"Well, you did just save me. I'm-"

"Norah. I remember you. My name's Wyatt. This spot looks good." Wyatt said.

"If we wanna die." He pointed to Shailee, Louis, Orchid, and Kimi.

"Careers." He whispered.

"Lets go."

I can assure you that Norah and Wyatt made it out alive. However, someone else did not.

"The boy, where did he go?" Shailee said, eyes filled with fury.

"That way." she said pointing.

The careers left and she ran too, but speed could not stop that cannon from booming as a knife sunk into Marisa's back.

"Let's camp here. We can get the 12 year olds later." Louis said.

"Louis is right. We are the ones feared. It's not like we are them!" Orchid said.

"I do think it's better than climbing that hill right now." Kimi said. A cannon boomed.

"Fine. Since everyone else wants to." Shailee said annoyed. Anyone could tell she wanted to be in more action.

Serenity was the only one who knew a cannon boomed that night at the cornucopia, for she was the one who caused it.
