It was the very next day, a beautiful Tuesday afternoon. Both girls were at April's house, deciding that they—well April was the one who came up with this idea—would study for this science test that was coming up at the end of the week. They were up in April's room on her bed with their binders and papers scattered everywhere. April was actually studying while Venus was on the other hand was scrolling on her Instagram feed.

"Can you believe that Justin Bieber is actually engaged?" Venus had asked.

"Ug, don't remind me. You know I love that man,"  April pouted. He was literally an icon in her eyes, which led to her always believing that she would somehow marry him one day.

"I guess he's actually moving on from Selena," Venus concluded.

"I guess so too," April sighs.

"I—," Venus was about to say something until she heard a knock on the front door. "Did you hear that?"

"Yeah, let's go see who it is," April got out the bed and walk towards her door.

"You're dumber than white people in scary movies," Venus deadpanned.

"Thanks," April sent her a wink before she disappeared out into the hallway.

"And if you get killed then don't say I didn't warn you!" Venus shouted from the room, then rolling her eyes when she heard April laugh. After a while of sitting there she got up from the bed and went downstairs to see who it was. She turned around the corner and saw that it was Kellen who was at the door. And his presence just made her feel very uneasy.

"What do you need Kellen?" April asked, she didn't let him in or was about to let him in. So she held onto the side of the door, making it known to him that he wasn't entering this house.

"I just came here to say that we made a ninety-eight percent on our project," Kellen grinned.

"Yeah I know, I got the notification on my phone," April says with a sarcastic smile on her face. "So tell me..why did you drag your ass all the way over here to tell me something that I already know?"

"Well that wasn't it April. I was asking if we could go out somewhere to celebrate it," Kellen had suggested with a enthusiastic tone. "Like a date."

April laughed, she literally laughed in his face like he had told her the funniest joke in the world. She then stopped and wiped a tear from the corner of her eye with her knuckle, "Wow, you're such a funny person."

"I'm being serious. It'll just be me and you," Kellen prompted.

"Aw, well thanks for wasting your time and your gas..but no thank you," April was about to close the door in his face but he had held it open.

"I think you're playing a game with me babe," Kellen says leaning against the door frame with a boyish smirk. He liked seeing April get riled up because it was actually pretty sexy to him.

April scrunched her face in disgust, "Ew gross, don't call me that."

"Look, I can see that you're the hard type to get tied down," Kellen licked his lips. "And I like that."

"Well guess what? I don't like you," April snapped.

"I like a girl that's hard to chase," Kellen chuckles trying to make his way in.

But April pushed his chest back, "Interesting to know that Kellen, because you won't be able to catch up to me if you tried. Goodbye," and she had finally shut the door in his face.

"You'll give me a chance!" Kellen had shouted on the other side of the door.

April rolled her eyes and turned around to see Venus leaning against the far wall. She gave her a sappy smile, "It was just Kellen."

"He just asked you out," Venus whispered.

"And I turned him down," April didn't know why Venus was acting like this again, but she really didn't have time for it.

"I'm just saying April. It's obvious that he likes you," Venus says with her eyes flickering down.

The brown skinned girl crossed her arms over her chest, "Your point is?"

"Nothing," Venus sighs before she looked up at April again. "It's nothing."

"Let's just forget about him and let's head back upstairs," April proposed.

They entered her room and got on her bed again. April went back to studying and Venus went back on her phone. It was silent between them for a good ten minutes until April finally asked something that has been in the back of her mind for a while now.

"Why did you get so defensive when I first told you that Kellen and I are partners?" April had asked, stopping what she was doing and looking at the girl as she waited for an answer.

Venus looked up from her phone with a soft frown, "What do you mean?"

"Like..you said that you didn't like me talking to Kellen," April looked at her. "Why is that?"

Venus had the choice to either lie or tell the truth. She gulped as she looked into April's pretty dark eyes. They always promised to always be honest, but this was something different and Venus couldn't spill out the full truth just yet. But Venus did tell April something that was true about Kellen.

"He's got a reputation of using girls for sex," Venus confessed out truthfully. "Leaves them broken hearted because he's able to fluff them all up to get what he wants. He's doesn't have good intentions and I just wished I would have expressed this earlier to you," her head went down. "But I made things complicated."

"It's okay, you were just looking out for me," April gave her a soft smile, and it had made sense now.

"That's why I was worried about you guys working together, especially alone. And knowing that your families are close makes me even more worried," Venus also confessed out with a deep sigh.

April grew saddened, "Because you were scared that he would use me and hurt me?"

Venus nodded her head, "What if he tried to make a move on you? What if you actually fell for him? Gave yourself up to him? And forgot all about me?"

"Venus," April groaned wanting for her to stop.

"That's just how I feel," Venus whispers.

"I get that, I really do. But you don't have to worry about me falling for Kellen—because I don't like his corny ass," April told her bluntly.

Venus giggled, "He is corny."

"But I have to play nice since he is a family friend and I don't want my family to be upset with me if I wasn't polite," April explained to her.

"That makes sense," Venus agreed.

April moved closer to Venus, cupping her pretty face in her hands as she looked deeply into those brown eyes of hers, "But you can't be stressin' over this Venus, you gotta stop it."

"I know," Venus nods.

"You have gotten a bit uneasy, insecure, and scared since that loser has came around. But I don't want you to be that way," April spoke with sincerity and worry.

"I'm sorry," Venus then apologizes.

"Don't be, it just makes me worried for you emotional and mental health. Please promise me that you won't let this take you over," April pleaded with sad eyes.

"I promise," Venus promises.

"Great," April smiled, pulling away. "Now, let's study like we're suppose to be doing."

Venus wanted to pout when April pulled away. Her hands were so warm and soft, leaving her cheeks a light tint of pink. Venus looked at her bestfriend, mentally making a promise to herself that she will forever cherish April for as long as she lives.

as you can see venus has something going on with her deep down , while april wants to make sure that venus doesn't feel like she will be replaced by kellen . a bond like this takes a lot to maintain so just keep that in mind .
