It was now nearing the end of the week which meant that it was Friday. That was a great thing to many people, especially high school students who were constantly being overworked every single day of the week. It was a big relief to everybody who went to Eastwood High because this week was overwhelming since the teachers decided to give them lots of work after their Thanksgiving Break, and not everybody wanted of all that. Not only was it irritating but it could get really stressful—but what else could you expect from school?

Kellen was over at April's house so they could work on their English project. Her parents were actually friends with his parents so he was no stranger to the Dean family, but April and Kellen didn't really associate with each other like that until now.

"Tell me this April, are you single?" Kellen had asked out of the blue as he was searching something on his laptop, not necessarily looking at her. But once he didn't get an answer he turned his head, proceeding to go on forth with it. "You're a pretty girl. I don't think you should be alone, you need nobody."

"This has nothing to do with the project," she mutters underneath her breath, but loud enough so he could hear what she said.

"Have you dated anybody? Or even kissed someone?" Kellen then asks curiously turning to look at her.

"Okay look buddy," she snapped her pen and looked at him with a glare that sent chills down his spine. "What you're talking about is irrelevant to what we're doing right now. So I advise you to stay in your place and stop asking so many damn questions that doesn't relate to us finishing this project, you got it Kellen?"

"Y-Yeah," he stammered, nodding his his vigorously.

"Good," she shot him a fake smile before she went back to writing again.

"I think I just might go. F-Forgot to walk my dog," he stuttered closing his laptop and packing all of his things so he could leave.

April gave him a strange look, but then rolled her eyes because she didn't care, "Just come over tomorrow so we can finish this and have it done. I'll text you when I'm free."

"Sure. Bye April," Kellen still gave her a tight lipped smile and a wave, even after the fact that she had snapped at him—he was an odd boy.

"Mmh," she didn't say goodbye, but she cleaned up so she could put all the stuff away.

April was upstairs in her room, laying flat on her bed and looking up at the ceiling just zoning out. She wondered what in the world was Kellen thinking about when he was asking her those personal questions like that. He even called her pretty which was also odd, but it was nice she thinks? Anyways, it wasn't a big deal but it came off strange to her especially since they didn't know each other like that.

Since it was nearing six o'clock in the evening she decided to take a shower to get cleaned up and so she could relax her mind. This week has been a little stressful lately and all she wanted to do was to relax. Just after she stripped out of her clothes she heard her phone go off. Frowning, she picked up her phone to see that she a text message from her bestfriend Venus.

Sighing out, she locked her phone and hopped in the shower. April thought she was going to be able to take a long relaxing shower but this was just gonna have to be short one. It didn't take long for Venus to pack and leave out of that chaotic prison she calls a home. She literally lived down the block from them which was a good fifteen minute walk. Therefore, April managed to get cleaned and relaxed before she got out of the shower earlier than she wanted. She dried off her body and her damp hair. April moisturized her hair before she put it in big chunky twists. Then she grabbed her favorite night scarf before putting over her head to protect it from getting frizzy overnight. She then slid on some pajamas before going downstairs. And as on cue, there was a few knocks on the door which made April practically run over to it so she could open it for Venus.

"Hey," Venus greeted with a soft smile. On her shoulder was her infamous light pink duffle bag that she always brought with her when she came to spend the night. She looked so stressed out but managed to still smile despite what was going on in her home.

"Hey, come in," April opened the door wider and stepped to the side to let her bestfriend in. She closed and locked the door before they both went upstairs to her room.

"Why aren't your parents home?" Venus asks putting her duffle bag down by the wall and unzipping her jacket. "And where's your little sister?"

"They're at Shema's play. I decided not to go because I had to work on the project with Kellen," April informs her.

Something about that made her internally grimace, "He was over here?" Venus asked her with her back turned.

"Yeah," April nods as she went to get her laptop from underneath her bed.

"Oh," Venus murmurs before she kicked off her shoes and socks, neatly placing in the April's closet.

"You wanna watch Riverdale?" April asks holding up her laptop with a loopy smile on her pretty smile.

"Yeah..I guess it'll make me feel better," Venus shrugs.

Both girls climbed into April's bed and got settled in underneath the covers. As April got onto Netflix it had Venus thinking back to what April had said to her earlier about Kellen being here.

It had to mean that they were alone, Venus's self conscious told her and that made her want to punch a hole into a wall due to all the frustration that came along with it. There were so many things that could have done if they were all by themselves. Who knows? They could have hooked up for all that matters and April is just keeping it away from me, she thought sadly to herself. Venus didn't like Kellen. Simply because she knew that he wasn't the same perfect guy that he portrayed to be in front of people he wanted to impress. It was all a lie, a game, a mask—and he was fooling everybody but her.

Venus didn't want April to get hurt or else she'll make sure that Kellen no longer has a penis. As a bestfriend, it was her duty to make sure that she has April's back at all costs. Venus has already expressed that she didn't want April to be associating with Kellen but April has her own ways of handling situations. Yes, they were English partners and there wasn't anything that Venus could do about that. But the last thing she wanted was for April to get involved with a guy and forget all about her, along with their friendship of ten years.

"Are we falling off April?" Venus whispers, turning her head to the side to look at her.

"Venus, why would you ask such a thing?" April paused the episode, closing her laptop and moving it somewhere else. She turned on her side to face her bestfriend, whom she assumed was going through a lot deep down. And the last thing she wanted was for Venus to question their friendship, because it scared her to death.

"Do..do you not want me around anymore? Am I a bother to you?" Venus's eyes grew glossy, her brown eyes showing nothing but fear and sadness.

"Where in the name of hell made you think that?" April questioned seriously, waiting for an answer.

"I dunno," Venus had looked away from her insecurely and fiddled with her own fingers underneath the covers.

"Yes you do know Venus. This is coming from something," April sighs. "Is it my fault? Have I been acting rude to you?"

"I-I don't want you to leave me," Venus whispers, voice cracking as those tears that were threatening to fall actually fell down her cheek and onto the pillows. She then covered her face with her hands, embarrassed of how emotional she had gotten.

"I'm not going anywhere," April wrapped her arms around the crying girl and pulled her in close. "We're not going anywhere, okay? I'm always going to be there for you. And don't you ever second guess that, okay?"

"Okay," Venus sniffed taking her hands away from her wet face, and wiping her tears away. "M'okay now."

April cupped Venus's face with her hands, "Everything is gonna be jus' fine my lil venus fly trap," she smiled before she pressed a kiss onto her cute nose.

Venus giggled, beginning to blush the slightest bit too. She wrapped her arms around April's waist and pulled her even closer. Now that she felt more secured, she felt silly for ever thinking that April was going to leave her. Venus got like that times and just needed to be assured. She felt safe around April.

As if she was invincible as long as she was with her bestfriend.
