The Most Awesome Person's Guide To Making Jokes Part II

Hello, little fledgling writers.

Welcome back to The Most Awesome Person's Guide To Making Jokes.

Anyway, last time I went into great detail on option 1, in which I focused on a question posed by @safetaynet whom you may recognise better as Barney, or Clara.

Now, option 2 was focusing on the 'OwEnTiSm' part.

Option 2a:

We might, again, focus on the idea of a different, albeit similarly named, faith. I've already covered this in part I, so I'm not going to re-type it all over again.

Option 2b:

Here, we might play along, and pretend that it's a great idea, and possibly one that hadn't already occurred to us. The following reply might be something along the lines of this:

'Owentism? Dear Owens above THAT'S A GREAT IDEA.'

(The 'dear Owens above' plays on the entire idea of a faith, and Owen as it's leader, which is the same idea presented to us by Barney.)

We might even uplay it, and present it as a genius idea.

'Owentism? Dear Owens above YOU'RE A GENIUS BARNEY I'M TAKING THAT IDEA BYE'

We might even tremendously overplay it and put more pressure on the creator of the idea, rather than the actual idea. This creates humour because again, we're placing emphasis on the suggestion of faith and religion aspects.

'Owentism? Dear Owens above HEY GUYS BARNEY'S A SECRET GENIUS YOU NEED TO WORSHIP HIM'

Option 2c:

Here, we're revolving around the suggestion of servitude to a higher entity, and linking it to Derren's slavery. The certain similarities of it can be enormously inflated, and we could say something like this:

'Derren's God is me, his servitude is for me, his morals directed by me, and his undying love directed at me. gentlmen Derren's faith is me.'

Again, we're playing on the suggestion that the entire of HN has certain aspects in similarity with religion. For example, we have:

- The book, script or letters written that are revolving around the higher entity's presence and miraculous deeds;

- The idea of complete and utter devotion to the higher entity;

- The idea of the higher entity appearing beyond normal limits;

- The higher entity not having very much knowledge about it for certain, and no way of knowing the truth;

- Certain days being marked out as designated for celebration;

- The higher entity having equals, such as Angels, henchmen or satires;

- A common enemy;

- The higher entity having created or instructed the creation of following his or her morals and beliefs;

- The higher being having created or instructed creation of life;

- The complete inconsistency of certain aspects, such as the higher being appearing to the followers.

Option 2d:

Here is the fun part: asteriks.

Asteriks are extremely popular with the younger generation, as they can be used for actions that may not be able to be completed in the physical world, and it is often a better alternative to a running commentary.

Now, we're playing on the idea of religion and Owentism. Thus, it must be religiously related. Thus, we must ask ourselves the question: what has religious aspects?

Some examples are:

1. Clothing (monk clothing, hats, nun clothing, hats, etc.)

2. Food (bread, wine etc.)

3. Culture (services, ceremonies, songs, etc.)

Let's go into more detail.

What's that, I hear you cry? *laughs* Oh no, this is merely scratching the surface! I have yet to go into far, far more mind-numbingly, eye-meltingly, coma-inducing detail!

Shall we begin?

Excellent.

Option 2d1:

*vanishes into monk robe*

*pulls bag over Derren's head and drags him off to be converted quickly*

*retreats into monastry*

Now, these are particularly good, because there's a small part- the monk part- that's relating to some of the jokes I made earlier, when I mentioned I was a monk (I'm not a monk).

Option 2d2:

Unfortunately, this is a bit limited. There's not as much leeway as I would like.

*bangs holy wine cup on table* I DEMAND YOU BE QUIET, HEATHEN

Option 2d3:

This is a very versatile category, since it has the largest opportunity.

*yeets you into baptising pool*

*drowns you in baptising pool*

*throws holy water at you*

Now, I have outlined as many options for reply as I can possibly think of. I hope I have demonstrate my point- that telling jokes is an extremely complex skill- and one worth having. Furthermore, the ability to improvise a reply instantly, without hesitation, repetition or offence to anyone other than yourself, is extremely valuable.

Ok [technical mode off] [defualt setting on]

Goodbye, sleep tight (or loose? What's the difference, really?) and don't let the killer dolphins (especially the ones in tuxedos) bite (or shoot lasers, but hey, anything's cool).

From,

Owen
