"Rebecca," called Rebecca's dad, Tom. Rebecca groaned and sat up.

"...Yes," Rebecca asked.

"Get ready for school," Tom called from the kitchen.

"Alright." But then it hit Rebecca like a bolt of lightning that today was the first day of junior high! Rebecca was so excited. Today was the first day of eighth grade school!

"I made you breakfast," Rebecca's mom Catrina called cheerfully.

 Rebecca got out of bed and made it. Then, she started brushing her rainbow hair. Rebecca always wondered about how she was born with it. I like my hair. It makes me different. Rebecca smiled. Rebecca quickly put her hair into a scrunchy, then Rebecca changed and ran into the kitchen. Rebecca smelled pancakes, the tradition of the first day of school for the Miller family. Rebecca sat down on one of the four chairs on the countertop island. Rebecca started staring out of the window. Rebecca wondered if her parents knew why she had rainbow hair. Rebecca... don't be silly, of course your parents don't know how you got your hair! It was probably some rare birth disorder. I don't care anyway; I love my hair! But deep-down Rebecca wanted to learn more about her hair.

"Rebecca? Rebecca?" Catrina asked. 

"Oh!" Rebecca was startled back into reality. She looked away from the window to Catrina. "What mom?"

"Your pancake is done." 

"Okay, thank you mom and dad!"

"No problem!" Tom said. Rebecca ate her pancake hungrily.

"Can have one more?" Rebecca asked.

"Have as many as you want!" Catrina said.

"But you're not the one making the panc-"Tom started but Catrina shot him a warning look. "Never mind." Tom sighed defeatedly.

Three six-inch pancakes later...

Rebecca was stuffed. "Bye mom, bye dad! Thank you for the pancakes!" Rebecca said walking out of the door.

"Next time your mother's making the pancakes!" Tom said. Catrina looked at Tom.

"What?" Catrina asked.

"Nothing." Tom said innocently.

"Bye!" Rebecca said.

"Bye sweety!" Said Catrina when Tom said 

"Have a good day honey!"

"Thank you! Bye!" Rebecca closed the door. Rebecca pulled her phone from her pocket and earbuds and started playing Celebration by Kool & the Gang. She started dancing to the grove and started walking to school. Rebecca looked at her Map on her phone. She turned left. When she got to school the first thing Rebecca saw was that the school was next to the forest. Wow. This year is going to be amazing! I absolutely love forests! It's like this school knows me! Rebecca was walking to the big school and then she reached the door, and she opened it. But something was wrong. Very wrong. There were dragons. Rebecca took one look at the dragons then fainted leaving herself for the dragons to deal with.
