Chapter 1: Small tensions and Androids?

The small group of Military people were blinded by the light of the doorway at the big metal doors opened. Most of the people covered their eyes with their arms to block out the light and when they all exited the facility they were met by a very broken down city with grass growing in some broken down streets a pond in what looked like a park at one time and green vegetation growing on many buildings that the group could see.

The skyscrapers looked in bad shape and had almost all of the windows either gone or broken and had vegetation growing on them almost as if nature was trying to take back its own land. Buildings and streets laid broken down and apart and their were a few cars and buses rusting away and it looked like they had been like that for a while.

Like this...(Not my picture!)

The group was in shock as it looked like the city had been abandoned for a long time and their was no one in sight anywhere they looked. Itami, Kuribayashi, and Kurokawa all had very sad looks on their faces as this was their homeland and it looked as if the city was already a lost cause and that there was no one left.

"Our home." Kuribayashi said in awe. "It... looks...gone."

"What could have done all this?" Kurokawa asked, but nobody could give a answer.

"Oh my god." Itami muttered. "How long have we all been asleep?"

"That's a good question, lieutenant." Peyton said as he crack open a white monster energy drink and took a couple of gulps. "What was the year you were beening preserved?"

This is a white monster energy drink...(I drink this sometimes...)

"Well, I think the year was 2019 when I was put into that pod." Itami said as he looked at Peyton drinking the energy drink and then put on a confused face. "Okay, where did you get that?"

"Oh this?" Peyton pointed out ass he held up the can and pointed at it. "It was inside a fridge near the locker room, along with a couple more cans."

"Wait, you found a fridge near the locker room with white monster?" Taylor asked.

"It also had a bunch of rations and water." Peyton answered as he pointed to his backpack. "I just put them in my backpack just in case, you can never have too much."

"Alright that's enough chit chatter!" Lieutenant Turner shouted to get everyone's attention. "Does everyone know the year that they were put into preservation?!"

"Yeah, I think we were all preserved in the year 2019 lieutenant." Jeffery answered and everyone nodded. "At least that's the year I remember being preserved."

"Do you have a plan lieutenant?" Bakers asked and soon all eyes were set on the two 1st lieutenants of the group.

"Well, considering we just woke up, I believe the first order of business is to see if there are any other survivors in the city." Turner answered and then turned to Itami. "Do you know the layout of the land well here Itami?"

"Well... I think I remember the city enough to get us through." Itami said. "As long as not much has changed."

"That's good enough for me." Turner said. "I think our best chances are to head to the down town area, but we must be carful we don't know how many machines are out there."

"Not to worry lieutenant!" Dexter exclaimed. "We can gun them down if they get in our way!"

The Marine Lieutenant smile at the Philippine Marine and saw that he had a point, machines aren't exactly the smartest things in the world.

"Damn right!" Added Jeffery. "Besides unlike those Machines we can think more creatively!"

"Alright listen up!" Turner yelled. "We are gonna head to the downtown area to see if we can locate any resistance left, but we must remain sharp and we come across and machine life forms, we take them out!"

"YEAH!" The rest of the group yelled together.

"Alright!" Turner yelled. "Lets move out!"

Soon Turner and Itami started walking in the direction of the downtown area with Itami taking the lead and the others following close behind. They first started going along the broken down roads until the had to cut across a large green lawn of grass next to the pond. Now you might think that the trip wouldn't take so long as they were only about a little bit over a mile away from their destination but, the terrain wasn't exactly the best. However while the trip might take a little bit longer the morale of the group was high and Peyton was the one in the group who wanted to keep everyone's sprites up.

As they were walking Peyton was humming the marching song "Marching through Georgia" as it was one of his favorite American civil war songs by the Union to listen to and it always had him in a good mood whenever he listened to it. That and he put away him white Monster drink by dematerializing into his pip-boy so that way it could not spill as they were traveling.

"Peyton." Cody asked behind him. "Why are you humming that song?"

"It helps me stay in a good mode whenever I hear it." Peyton answered. "Besides that, I have it memorized in my head and its very catchy."

"I see..." Cody said. "An old song from our countries past."

"Cody, you know I basically an expert when it comes to military history right?" Peyton asked. "That is one of, if not my favorite things to learn about."

"So I have been told." Cody said looking off to his left. "Is that why you have that M1 on you?"

"Yeah, besides this was the rifle that won us the second world war right?" Peyton replied as he pointed his thumb at the old rifle. "I accept no other substitutes."

Cody was about to say something else until Taylor tapped on his shoulder and he turned his head to face him.

"Don't bother arguing with him." Taylor mentioned. "I've tried talking to him about it as well but he wont accept any other rifle."

"Then why does he have that old M16A1?" Cody asked.

"I don't know." Taylor replied. "Maybe they ran into budget cuts, and that was all they could issue to him."

"Strange, I thought they were using the M16A4's in the Marines." Cody said. "But I guess when your planet is being invaded about anything that fires the same caliber will work."

"I guess." Taylor sighed. Soon the group was all walking in silence as the came closer and closer to the downtown area. But soon the group came up to a big dirt hill that looked like it could give them a better view from the top. Soon the group climbed up the short but steep hill until they stopped at the top and saw that they still had a little further to go before they reached the main down town area. But Turner then looked down at the slope of the hill leading deeper into the city and realized that once that go down the hill it would be difficult to get back up incase they had to head back.

"Alright, hold up right here." Turner ordered as he took out a pair of binoculars to examine the terrain below and ahead of them. "Well, since we do not know what may be ahead of us I need at least two of you to check out the area, any volunteers?"

Peyton and Kuribayashi both raised their hands almost at the same time as if they wanted to scout ahead. Then the two looked at each other and then put on a face of determination.

"Oh so you want to scout too huh?" Peyton asked with a smirk as Kuribayashi also smirked.

"Oh yes, I do!" Kuribayashi said. "I can handle multiple enemies should any come up."

"So can I, we Marines are very well trained." Peyton retorted.

"Both of you shut up!" Turner shouted getting the twos attention. "Since you two both raised your hands you both will scout a route ahead for us, I want you both back here in 15 Minutes to report, clear?"

"Yes sir!" The two said in unison. Soon Peyton was the first to slid down the hill to the street followed by Kuribayashi. The two then started off jogging a little bit to scout far ahead for a safe place to go to get to the down town area. The two were constantly checking all around them just incase that there were ambushed by any machine life forms. Almost every building they walked by wash trashed to hell and in very bad shape, and it didn't look like there was anyone in them.

But as the two were jogging side by side The Sergeant Marine did his best trying not to look at the JSDF Sergeant who was confused on why the young Marine wasn't looking at her.

"Hey, what's the matter with you?" Kuribayashi asked as the two slowed down to a walking pace. "Are you trying to avoid me?"

"It's nothing." Peyton said still looking away but that wasn't an answer for her.

"When you are looking away from me and trying to avoid me that is not nothing." Kuribayashi argued as she got in front of Peyton making him stop in his tracks. "So... what's the problem?"

"Its just... well... I don't really work with female military personnel." Peyton replied as he scratched his left face cheek. "There were only a couple of occasions where I did so, I'm not used to it."

"That's it!?" Kuribayashi exclaimed trying her best not to laugh. "Ppppppffffffff, hahahahaha! Oh That's funny, but in all seriousness I am easy to get along with, just don't get on my bad side."

"What do you do to people who get on your bad side beat them up a lot till they can't feel their face?" Peyton asked.

"How did you guess?" Kuribayashi asked and Peyton kept a calm expression.

"I don't know, probably the fact you get made fun of how short you are to others." Peyton replied and that earned him a glare from the girl.

"Call me short again, and you are gonna get it." Kuribayashi warned.

"Relax I didn't mean to insult you." Peyton reasoned. "Besides, that's not my style to hurt a young lady's feelings."

"Oh, I see..." Kuribayashi said as she looked away and blushed.

"Well, now's not the time for personal problems, we've got scouting to do!" Peyton said and then started walking towards the down town area with the JSDF sergeant following close behind.

"Right behind you!" Kuribayashi said as she caught up to Peyton.

Time skip to about five minutes later....

After a little bit more walking the two then made a right at a three point intersection coming across a large green patch of grass in the center of the broken down city. Above them was part of a broken down highway intersection with a few rusted cars and buses along with a strange big box with a chain wrapped around it almost like nobody was meant to open it. Walking pass the highway structure and the chained up box and going up to the green grass land and didn't notice anything at first until the sound of sparking was heard.

The two then saw what the sparking was coming from and it was from a destroyed small machine life form along with a couple more destroyed machines. The two then examined the bodies closer and found that they were sliced into small pieces rather then bullet holes. Peyton then looked at the marks where the robots were sliced and saw that whatever killed these robots did it recently as the marks seemed fresh.

"Whatever killed this robots, isn't far away." Peyton said as he wiped his right fingers on one of the marks.

"Do you think it could be other survivors?" Kuribayashi asked looked at another one of the robots.

"Maybe, but why would they use swords when fire arms are clearly superior?" Peyton asked examining the cut wound closer. "I'm mean nobody has used swords since the medieval times."

"Well whoever killed them must be pretty strong with the blade." Kuribayashi said. "Never underestimate a person who is skilled with a blade."

"You mean like the one from 'Indiana Jones and the lost ark' that got shot and killed by none other than Indiana Jones himself?" Peyton pointed out. "Say what you want but I would rather take a fire arm over a sword any day, at least I can still hit my enemy with it if I run out of bullets."

"I don't know if you should say that out loud." Kuribayashi said. "I feel like karma is gonna hit you in the face now that you said that."

"Whatever." Peyton snorted as he spotted some foot prints in the grass. "I think I might know where we might find whoever did this if we follow these foot prints."

"And how can you track foot prints?" Kuribayashi asked while titling her head to the right.

"Oh that's simple, we just follow them." Peyton blankly answered. "No time like the present, lets go see where the people are!"

Peyton then took off jogging following the fresh foot prints with Kuribayashi following close behind him not to lose track. Soon the two went in between a pair of tall buildings with a narrow alleyway leading them to another open area. The area had a decent sized body with a little green island with a tree on it at the nearest side and a water fall pouring water into the pond. In fact on the island where a couple more destroyed robot pieces and that told the two they were on the right trail. Then the JSDF Sergeant noticed something to the right of the pond that looked man made.

"Hey what's that?" Kuribayashi asked as she pointed to a structure that was part of a chain link fence with a tarp as a roof covering what looked like an entrance to some place. "That doesn't look natural."

"Did the tarp roof give it away?" Peyton sarcastically asked. "Lets go check it out."

The two then marched up a small hill in order to reach the entrance to wherever the place was and they were hoping to find allies as well. When the two reached the entrance it was a small alley way that looked like it was hiding something where no one would bother looking there. The two then flicked the safeties off their weapons as they wanted to be prepared for anything should it ever come up.

"Keep an eye out for anything that looks out of place, I don't want anything to surprise us." Peyton pointed out. The alleyway then made a right turn and ahead of them the path was blocked off by a large pile of rocks and to the left of that was another alleyway but Peyton then stopped Kuribayashi from going around the corner as he checked to see what was there and there were people and from the looks of things it looked like a resistance camp.

(He saw this...)

"Well, I don't believe it." Peyton said. "Looks like were not the only ones left alive... I count a dozen of them maybe more."

"Do you think they are friendly?" Kuribayashi asked. "I don't want to be in the middle of all them if they see us as enemies."

"Oh please just follow my lead and smile." Peyton said as he put a smile on his face.

"Smile?" Kuribayashi asked as she tilted her head in confusion.

"Yeah, people are less likely to shoot at you if you smile at them." Peyton said. "That's what Mad Jack said once."

"Who?" Kuribayashi asked again.

"I'll tell you later just follow me." Peyton said as he walked into the camp.

"*Sigh* I will never understand him." Kuribayashi said as she followed Peyton into the camp. However as the two neared the center of the camp a few of the people then started to look at the two military personal as they looked out of place from everyone else and it made the JSDF Sergeant a little uncomfortable and she whispered to Peyton; "I don't think this was a good idea, a good portion of them are looking at us."

"Don't worry, they just see us as one of them." Peyton said. "I'm sure they wouldn't attack fellow humans."

"HEY YOU TWO!" A voice yelled out and the two turned to see a green cloaked woman wearing a white long sleeved shirt with a belt on her stomach with a pistol holster on her right thigh with grey pants and black knee protectors followed by long black stringed boots and to top it all off she had what looked like an AK-47 strapped to her back.

(This is Anemone...)

"Who are you two I have never seen either of you in this camp before!" She yelled as she came walking over to the two with two other people behind her. One of them was a girl had white hair and wore a black dress skirt with a bowtie on the back with sliver trimmings and had long black boots with leggings, but what made it strange was the fact that she had a black blind fold over her eyes.

(This is 2B...)

The other looked like a young teenage boy and his attire was mostly a long sleeved leather black coat with gold and sliver trimmings matching color shorts and boots and he also had white hair and wore a black blind fold over his eyes.

(This is 9S...)

"What is your model types and numbers?" The woman asked and the two just looked at each other in confusion.

"What do you mean by model types and numbers?" Peyton asked. "Do you think we are machines?"

"Pod, Analysis these two." The girl in the black skirt said. Just then two saw a pair of floating machines just above the two dressed in black clothing and that was very surprising to both Peyton and Kuribayashi as they had never seen such advance robots before.

(Pod 042...)

(Pod 153...)

"Analysis complete: No black box signal detected on either, organic composition detected. Hypothesis: Possible humans discovered." The white pod answered.

"Same conclusion here." The black pod answered in a famine robotic voice. The moment the two pods said their conclusion that earned surprised looks from everyone in the camp and they were all on the two new people to the camp. Peyton was sweating a little bit from his fore head but kept his cool as Kuribayashi nervously looked around to see if there was a way to get out of there.

"Humans?" The girl asked. "Why aren't they on the moon?"

"Humans?!" the boy exclaimed. "Like real Humans 2B?!?" It was then Peyton decided to put on a big smile and looked to the young boy.

"100% flesh and red blood." Peyton answered with a thumbs up. "Nothing more, nothing less." That made the young boy beam with excitement like it was seeing a toy that they have always dreamed of and now had the chance of seeing it.

"Oh my goodness this awesome!" He exclaimed. "Meeting humans for the first time and their is two of them!"

"Well, actually there are more of us." Kuribayashi said. "About 10 more of us."

"Really 12 in total?!?" The beamed.

"9S emotions are prohibited." 2B scolded.

"Yes ma'am." 9S pouted.

"Don't call me ma'am." 2B retorted.

"Yes ma- uh... 2B." 9S stuttered and Peyton thought that wasn't nice.

"Oh come on miss you don't have to scold him for having emotions." Peyton said. "I think they're fine." 9S then looked up to Peyton with a bright smile. "Emotions are what keeps us human."

"Oh were not actually human." 9S stated earing a confused look from the two.

"But you look, sound, and Talk like a human." Peyton pointed out. "If your not human what are you?"

"Well, you see... we are actually... androids." 9S replied.
