2.0 - Worth The Wait
2.0 - Worth The Wait
3 years later
"Woooooo!" The girl screamed at the top of her lungs, sitting on the tailgate of the truck as it drove at a high speed down a back road.
Dust flew up from the tires running against the dirt road. Hair was tossed around in the wind and laughs were shared. They all felt alive.
Slowing down suddenly, the truck turned onto a main road, driving the speed limit now.
"Dude are you sure you have to go back? This road trip is gonna suck without you." Angelina whined as she held hands with her friend.
Alivia smiled. "I'm sure. Text me wherever you are and I'll be there. I'm sure I'll need are break from there soon enough. I just think it's time for me to come back."
After 3 years, Alivia decided it was her time to come back to Mystic Falls. She wasn't about to wait on the calls of her friends when they thought it had been long enough for her to come back.
In 3 years Alivia has had the time of her life. Making new friends, breaking a few rules, doing whatever the hell she wanted. Being a rebel was something she never tried. She liked the risk and the freedom of it all.
She could hear the tisking of her brother in the back of her mind when there was something dangerous involved. She stayed out of things that were death defying, wanted to stay alive.
Driving past the Mystic Falls sign, Angelina hugged closer to Alivia. The two of them had a history. Think of it as friends with benifits. Alivia's heart already belonged to someone else's that lived in Mystic Falls.
Although they broke up, Alivia never stopped. Thinking about her sent waves of warmth and sadness into her heart. Now she was back and ready to be with her.
Angelina and Alivia were the closest. Besides their history, they clicked instantly when Alivia came to town. Now after 3 years they were to be separated. Alivia would miss them all dearly, but her time had come to return home.
Stopping in the middle of town, Alivia jumped down from the tailgate of the truck, helping Angelina down and her other friend Jeff jumping down beside her.
Her friends got out of the truck to give their friend a hug. They were all persistent on getting Alivia on board for their road trip, but she had business here.
She promised to visit them wherever they were. But for now she would be here. "Don't do anything stupid." Alvin advised.
Alivia laughed. "I've been doing stupid stuff with you all for the past 3 years, just because you're all gone doesn't mean I won't."
Carly and Taylor, the twins, hugged their friend goodbye and got back into the truck. Jeff picked Alivia up in his arms, spinning her around once and dropping her again.
"It's gonna suck not having you around." He admits.
"Just imagine I'm there. And you guys can call me whenever. I'll always answer." Alivia promised.
She turned to Angelina, a sad smile on her face. "Come on, buddy. It's okay." Alivia wrapped her in a tight hug.
Angelina's arms held Alivia's waist closely. She smiled as she looked into her eyes. Angelina took the risk and gave Alivia a quick kiss; a goodbye kiss.
Alivia didn't argue. She'd become familiar with her lips. They could have easily become something more, it was just accepting that she'd never be with Katherine again and loving someone else that was hard.
Alivia cpuld have easily fallen in love with Angelina, had an amazing life and future with her, but both realized that being hung up on exs that were always on their minds wasn't something they wanted to complicate things. So whenever they wanted, a bedroom and the two of them would wash their worries away whenever they needed.
Alivia hugged her only last time before helping her into the truck. Waving frantically, the truck drove away with music blasting and scream of goodbyes her way.
Alivia watched what could have been her amazing life drive away, leaving her with her past that was waiting her her to return.

Walking up the steps of the too familiar home had her smiling. She knocked on the white door and was greeted with harms around her and she was in the air.
"Matty!" Alivia exclaimed excitedly.
Matt's day was increasingly better at the sight of his little sister after 3 years. Her hair was shorter, some highlights, she was glowing.
"You're back? But I thought you were going on a road trip with all your friends?" Matt and Alivia had kept in touch every once and a while.
"I decided coming back home was more important. I needed to come back. I was ready." She said. Alivia felt ready to come back.
"You think there's still and place back and the Grill for me?" Matt laughed, nodding and hugging he sister again.
After seeing Matt and visiting, Alivia's next stop was Caroline's. She was excited to see the blonde vampire. She'd missed her friend a lot.
She ran up to the porch, where the last time she had seen it was her and Caroline fighting all those years ago. Now she was here to surprise her.
She knocked on the door, making a rhythmic sound until she hear Caroline shout, "There's a thing called patience, USE IT!" It made her laugh.
But the face she saw on Caroline when she entered the hall and looked through the window on her door, it made her smiled widely.
Caroline was quick to open the door and stuff Alivia into here arms, squealing happily to see her again.
"Alivia! Oh my god! You're here!" Caroline exclaimed.
"I am. I'm back." She breathed, smiling with her eyes closed.
"When did you get back?"
"Just a few hours ago. I just came from visiting Matt's." Alivia removed herself to look at Caroline. Her hair was longer, she held herself better. She liked how she looked.
"This is so great! I need to throw you a got welcome back party! You should have told me and I would've have had it prepared earlier!" Caroline insisted. Alivia laughed.
"You can throw me one later! Let together be the time together catch up! I need to hear everything that I've missed the past 3 years." Alivia stepped into Caroline house.
"Please, you need to telle everything about your life since you left. It has to be more interesting than here." Caroline insisted.

Alivia was nervous. Approching Katherine's apartment, she was feeling doubt. Katherine could have easily gone off with someone else. If so she would respect that.
She paced outside the door for a few minutes, apparently too long because the familiar voice yelled out, "Whoever is pacing infront of my door, STOP!"
Alivia then knocked. Katherine's footsteps were quick, heavy heated towards the door. She opened it, ready to yell, when all the came out was a small whimper that was almost inaudible.
The sight of Alivia, with a new look of confidence and appearance, made Katherine weak in the knees. She could believe her eyes. Her beautiful ex was standing infront of her in this very moment.
"Alivia." Katherine spoke. The way she said it had Alivia smiling. She missed her name coming from her lips.
"Katherine. I've missed you." Alivia replied.
Katherine raced forward, picking Alivia up, forcing herself around Katherine's waist as they hugged. Katherine had tears in her eyes as she felt her arms around Alivia once more.
She dropped her to the ground, keeping each other close. Alivia wanted to desperately kiss her, but she didn't even have to ask. Katherine was quick to kiss her, and it was like an explosion of love that spread through them both.
Holding each other close, they walked into her apartment, kissing each other, not wasting anymore time away from each other. They were together again, and this time, they were both ready.
They were ready for their lives together to start.
