Ruby POV

Things have been going great, I'm excited to have started training and take on real Huntress missions, but I still have to keep an eye on Grimlock, who is still having nightmares about Shockwave's experimentation on him. One night, I wake up to hear grunting and frightened exhales, I look over at the other side of the room and see Grimlock tossing and turning, sweating profusely. I quickly get down and rush over to him and shake him awake.

Ruby: Grimlock, baby wake up.

Grimlock suddenly wakes up, his eyes red with rage, I force him to look at me while I keep a soft comforting smile on my face.

Ruby: Grimlock. Baby, shh, shh, shh. It's okay, calm down.

Grimlock's eyes return to normal and he sees me.

Ruby: Shh, it's okay. You're safe, no one can hurt you now.

Grimlock shoved his head into my chest and started crying quietly, so I just got into bed with him and cuddled my son in a warm, loving, embrace.

Ruby: I understand that everything that happened to you was really scary for you, but I've got you now, and I'm never letting you go again. You're my son and I love you with all my heart.

Grimlock: Grimlock can't stop it.

Ruby: And it may never stop, but you will find a way to get past it and keep doing what you do best. Being there for your family and watching over your brother's and sister.

Grimlock has been told this many times, but I'm starting to think he just needs a way to relax and get away from everything and not worry about things so much.

Ruby: Hey, I've got an idea of something we can do in the morning. You up for it?

Grimlock looks up at me and nods, I decide to stay with him and we both fall back asleep for the night.

Timeskip Next Morning

3rd Person POV

Grimlock and Ruby wake up late in the morning and eat breakfast.

Ruby: Okay, let's pack a go bag.

Grimlock: Okay. *goes to bed and starts stuffing backpack*

Yang: Ruby, are you sure about this? I can go with if you like?

Ruby: It's okay, Grimlock just needs time to clear his head and find a way to relax. We'll be okay. I'll call if I need something.

Ruby hugs Yang and the others, then packs her own go bag. The duo walk to the Airship landing pads and an airship flies them to an old town that hasn't been invaded by Grimm and drops the pair off. Ruby managed to borrow two motorcycles, after the airship leaves Ruby gets her helmet on.

Grimlock: Okay, you got Grimlock out here, where we going?

Ruby: Mmm, I don't know. Let's just drive.

Ruby shows Grimlock how to start his motorcycle and the two get moving down the highway. As they near the mountain road, Grimlock is riding beside Ruby, she looks at Grim and revs her engine and speeds a little, Grimlock was a little confused and revved to catch up. Ruby smirked and revved again, Grimlock caught up again, Ruby then really speeds up and guns it towards the mountains.

Grimlock: *realizes* Okay, you're on.

Grimlock takes off after Ruby and catches up to where he's behind her. Ruby then decides to play with Grim a little by splashing him by driving through a puddle of water.

Grimlock: *shivers shaking the water off*

Ruby: Hahaha! *splashes through another water puddle*

Grimlock: Whoa! *dodges* *confidant* Haha! *splashed with mud in the face* Pfft! Blech!

Ruby: *laughs harder*

Grimlock drives up next to her, and Ruby then makes Grimlock drive through a pile of leaves, making her laugh more as she drives off. Grimlock shakes off the mud and leaves and races past Ruby as they continue up the road. The pair happily drive up the curves in the road and just as Ruby passes Grimlock again, Grimlock sees a tunnel carved into the side of the mountain and is impressed, the pair then drive through another tunnel as Grimlock looks on in amazement. But the sight at the end of the tunnel was even more breathtaking, and it made Grimlock's jaw drop in amazement and wonder.

As Grimlock drives near the waterfall, he looks at Ruby and she shoots an affectionate smile at him. He breaks back to reality and smiles back only for Ruby to laugh as she drives on. Grimlock then felt something wierd on his teeth and realized they were bugs he ran into while driving, naturally he spit them out and caught up to Ruby. The two round one more bend and Ruby comes to a stop at the top of a cliffside. The pair stop and dismount their bikes, Grimlock looks around a little confused.

Grimlock: Not that this wasn't fun, but what are doing here?

Ruby: Well, whenever Yang and I were stressed out, Dad would take us for a drive, we didn't plan a destination, we just drove and it helped relax me. Though not quite as much as this. *beckons Grimlock to the edge of the cliff*

Grimlock approaches, looks and sees the amazingly beautiful tundra laid out before them.

Grimlock: *impressed* Wow. Look at that.

The pair look at the mountain road then Grimlock sees the big highway running parallel to the highway.

Grimlock: Those guys are driving by, they don't even know what they're missing.

Ruby: It didn't used to be that way. They way I read it, 50 years ago big roads like that one didn't exist.

Grimlock: Really?

Ruby: *sits on rock* Yeah, back then people drove a whole different way.

Grimlock: How do you mean?

Ruby: Well, the roads didn't cut through the land like that Interstate does. It moved with the land, it rose, it fell, it curved. People didn't drive to make great time, they drove on it to have a great time.

The two sit on the rock and stare out at the landscape.

Ruby: Whenever I feel stressed by the world, I like to come out and get away from everything. It helps me relax and maybe help figure out any problems I've got.

Grimlock: Me never thought like that.

Ruby: You've been stressing about everything ever since we met, that will stress and burn anyone out. We might be warriors but even the best need time to get away and recharge, that way we can come back better, stronger and ready to be our best.

Grimlock: Grimlock always thinking about protecting Dinobots and worrying about Shockwave's next victims and me not wanting to let what happened to us ever to happen again to anyone. Me want to be strong for my brother's, sister, and you.

Ruby: *puts arm around Grimlock's shoulders* That's such a heavy burden. You don't need to carry the weight of the world on your shoulders. You are not alone, you have all of us to help bear this burden, because I know together, we are far stronger than we are alone. So, never be afraid of abandonment or anything like that, because your family is here for you, like you're there for us.

Grimlock: Promise?

Ruby: Always and forever.

Ruby hugs Grimlock tight as the two watch the landscape for a bit longer before the pair decide to drive back down the mountain road and meet up with the airship and fly back to Atlas.

Grimlock: Hey, Mom. Thanks for the drive. Grimlock had good time. It's kinda nice to slow down every once in a while.

Ruby: *smiles* Your welcome.

Little did they know they were coming back straight into an emergency.
