Frisk's eyes slowly fluttered open. The intense pain and dizziness her body had undergone earlier having finally subsided.

Though it left her feeling a bit weak and lightheaded. She sat up, shaking her head softly as she slowly became aware of her surroundings.

A loud sound, like the opening of doors, shook her out of her musings. Looking behind her she saw a big door behind the heavy red curtains, a large door framed with wood and opening into a deep darkness.

An uneasy feeling came over her as stared into the void beyond. Streams of wispy blackness seeping out of the doorway like a foreboding mist, and making her disinclined to approach further.

Yet she couldn't help the strong impression that she should step inside. Taking a deep breath, she clutched her necklace for comfort and entered in through the large doors.

As soon as she stepped inside the necklace started to glow. Surrounding her in a shield of light that protected her from her surroundings. But even with that, she could still sense the awful darkness that lay just without her barrier.

The view ahead of her was completely obscured, but she knew there was something she needed to find.

She looked about, searching every which way until her eyes finally fell upon a solitary figure standing in the mist.

Approaching closer her eyes widened as she immediately recognized the skeleton.

"... Sans?..."

The skeleton witch flinched and looked up, surprised to hear another voice. Before his gaze connected with Sans's.

"hey, you're awake now. and... how do you know my name, have we met?" confusion evident in his voice.

"Oh, I remember Sans can't recognize me but... I shouldn't be here. I should be at the fields right now and finding Chara. I don't even know this place. Does Sans brought me here?"

"I'm sorry. And someone told me about you."

The skeleton blinked, still bewildered. "it's alright kiddo. we should probably go back now."

"Wait."

"yes?"

"I was actually hoping you could tell me..." looking around at their surroundings again, concern laced on her features. "...What is this place?"

Sans sighed, "this, is The Rebellion's Quarters. you're here with me in my room. you collapsed earlier, remember?"

"The Rebellion's Quarters? And I'm just with Sans?... Alone!?" Frisk slightly blush with the thought. Sans walks behind her, holding her hand to his and guiding her back to the room.

"you know, working on a potion seems hard to do it alone, right? especially, my brother is more of an expert doing this. do you want to help me with it?"

"Me? I don't know how to make a potion."

"you're just gonna assist me, don't worry i'll guide you. just don't touch anything here in the room."

"Oh...alright " she answered softly.

Thankfully, they were able to work together with the potion. Sans' began placing the potions in their designated places in his room.

Putting the last bottle away, Sans stepped back smiling. Pleased with their work, as well as the fact that he would be able to go back to Papyrus before the event starts.

While Frisk was curious of various bottles and vials in the shelves around them. She read all of them, they're all labelled alphabetically and what are their uses.

An unlabeled vial of glowing crystal blue liquid caught her attention.

"Sans. What kind of potion is this?"

The skeleton looked over curiously to see Frisk holding a glass vial. "that one..." he observed, approaching her.

"I...I know I shouldn't be touching anything...I was just curious is all." She explained, handing the bottle to him.

"hmm, well i suppose i could show you how it works" he grinned.

"hold still."

Frisk obeyed his instructions. Wincing only slightly in surprise as he placed a single drop of the magic liquid onto her head. Immediately a cloud of golden smoke spewed forth and hovered in the air above them.

Presently the cloud began to morph, displaying various shapes. Which although not greatly detailed, we're still discernible. Images of butterflies, nymph sprites, flowers, and other magical creatures danced before them.

"What's all of this?" She asked, in awe as she watched the morphing images above her.

"this is 'Soul's Truth' " Sans explained, "a potion that reveals what is in the soul of an individual. the things that are most important to them."

They continued to watch on as the cloud took on the appearance of the Frisk's family, as well as that of Frisk's friends. Sans couldn't suppress a small smile at an image that was clearly meant to be him, mingled there among them.

"It's beautiful... " Frisk sighed gazing upward.

Sans smiled as he looked on at the images himself.

"well, that's to be expected human, since it did come from you " he explained, "the potion also reveals the nature of a person. It makes sense that the pictures would be beautiful because it reveals your exceptional goodness as i can see. "

The scene before them soon ceased and the air before them cleared once more.

Sans placed a stopper on the bottle, "still, " he thought aloud "it is a rather impractical potion. especially when one takes into account the amount of time needed to make it."

"I think it's wonderful!" Frisk countered, "To be able to see all the things that resonate with my family and friends, the things they care about the most. Even if it was only a little, I would be able to understand them better. "

"you would say that. " he smiled, mildly amused by Frisk's ability to see the good in any situation. Taking the potion, he returned it to it's home on the shelf.

"I wonder what kind pictures your heart would show, Sans..." she suggested.

Sans froze, his back turned towards her. The corners of his smile turned down slightly. A dull pain filled his chest at her words. See what was inside of his heart? His nature? No, no, he rather she didn't...

"the potion is done. after 2 minutes you should drink it so you'll have your strength back." he said dully his back still facing her.

"and it's rather almost night." he added. "we'd better wrap things up and i need to leave soon."

"Okay then..."

A moment of silence grows between them. Frisk finally drink the potion, immediately feel her strength once more. She went to sit on the bed, while Sans is busy to put the books back.

"Olen?" Frisk said quietly.

He stiffened slightly, looking up he saw her standing in front of him, her eyes downcast and her right hand clutching her necklace protectively.

"yes..?" he asked cautiously.

"There's...something I want to tell you..." she said still averting her gaze.

"alright..." he said gently, urging her to continue.

"O... Olen..." she seemed to be struggling to find the words. "Do you remember, your lumen?"

"...Frisk-" Sans slowly approached her.

"Do you still forgive me, Olen!?" Frisk suddenly blurted out.

Sans sighed. "i haven't lost my trust in you... just, this will be your last chance, lumen."  Sans reached out to take Frisk's hand in his.

Once again, both of them starts to glow. But it wasn't the sleeping spell anymore, "do you remember everything what happened..."

A sudden warmth spread through her at Sans' touch. Though she grounded herself in the memory that holding his hand in hers wasn't exactly a new experience. It only felt different now because she was barehanded...that's all it was.

"I don't know what you mean... but I remember everything...last thing I know that I was with Kris and Alphys-"

"i understand. you're not the one who made another RESET."

"What?"

"this is the 7th RESET, we're almost to the Surface from the last RESET but i think... someone else did it."

"You mean, I don't have the power to SAVE." Frisk clutched her necklace once more. Somewhat, a star appeared in front of her, a button.

Mercy

"I don't see a checkpoint since we came down here." Sans went to sit beside her. "if that's the case, there are three humans came down here... you, your sister and that kid"

"His name is Kris."

"kid." Frisk pouted.

 "what's with that look?"

"Why are you always like that to Kris?" Frisk asked.

"well, it's simple. he's a human."

"But I'm a human too? I don't see anything to do about it."

Sans chided, stifling a chuckle.

"i don't trust him especially when you're around him."

"I know, but can you at least be nice to him." Sans let out a heavy sigh. "for now, it's better you stay with me."

Frisk turns around to face Sans. "you'll be much safer here, you have Grillby and Muffet to accompany you while i'm away."

"...You still don't trust me, don't you..." Slowly, looking away her gaze from him. "i do trust you. losing you again... it's really hard for me to handle." Sans said, with a bit of dismay.

"please, stay with me, Frisk. i'll do everything to protect you."  Frisk grimaced slightly, letting out a sigh.

"I'm glad you do trust me now, but just staying here and do nothing..." Sans reached out to hold her face, gently turning her to look at his eye sockets.

"i missed you and i don't want to lose my sight on you." Sans whispered. "I..." Frisk absent mindedly resting her hands on his chest she looked up at him with those familiar hazel eyes.

Her heart seemed to still in her chest a bit. Those new found emotions alighting themselves once more, as he realized just how close they were...

For a moment time seemed to stop. With neither of them consciously thinking of it. Frisk began to lean closer a bit, and he leaned down until he captured her lips in a tender kiss.

Every thing in his brain seemed to turn off as he felt her lips, soft and sweet against his own. It was heavenly. He could feel the quiver of her mouth as the woman parted it ever so slightly.

Begging him for more. Seizing the opportunity he captured her bottom lip between his own, his tongue gently caressing it. Eliciting a soft moan of delight from her. A small fire ignited in the skeleton witch at the lovely sound, and he pulled her closer to him.

Frisk nearly fell limp at his actions, a warm feeling engulfing her from head to toes. She kept herself upright though, cupping the back of his skull with her hand, venturing to deepen the kiss with her tongue. Sans seemed to welcome her actions and responded in kind. Both skeleton and human feeling as though they could melt right into each other.

They pulled away not long after though, softly catching their breath. Neither of them ready to push things any further. Though the moment had filled them both with a heady sense of intoxication.

"... I'm sorry, it's not my intention to do that but..." Frisk asked softly. Unable to believe what had just happened.

Sans giggled "no, it's fine. " he assured her, placing a kiss on her forehead. "it seems you really missed me that you have to do that."

"SANS!"

Papyrus was shouting outside, impatient of how his brother takes too long inside. "SANS! I ONLY HAVE 10 MINUTES FOR MY PATIENCE TO WEAR OUT, BROTHER!"

"i'll be right back. don't go outside until i get back and... if you need anything, call Muffet or Grillby."

Sans stood before Frisk, with a blink... the skeleton witch teleported away, leaving the human alone the quarters.

"SANS! THIS IS ENOUGH!! I'M GOING INSIDE NOW-"

"i'm here" Sans showed up behind him. "here's what you asked for."

Sans handed the book but Papyrus was irritated. Today supposed to be perfect and goes with his schedule but his brother always ruins it.

"WHAT TAKES YOU SO LONG TO FIND MY BOOK? IT'S JUST BETWEEN THE JAR OF NEWTS AND FROG TEARS!"

"sorry, Muffet asked help about Grillby." Papyrus gives a skeptical look to his brother.

"I'LL NOT ASK ABOUT IT. SINCE, I HAVE WHAT I NEED..."

He grabs Sans' right hand and with the flick of his Bone Wand, "YOU WOULDN'T MISS THE PERFORMANCE OF THE GREAT AND NOBLE PAPYRUS!"

Papyrus and Sans teleported back to attend the event.

A couple of hours had passed after Frisk and Sans' conversation while he was outside the castle entrance.

Now it was a completely normal occurrence for the young woman to disappear to RESET every now and then just for the sake of monsterkind. Sometimes when they're paths cross and indeed if that had been the case Sans probably wouldn't have given it a second thought.

The problem was, Frisk didn't have any reason to RESET many times whenever they're together, and merely seemed to be avoiding him.

Perhaps he was just imagining things, he tried to assure himself. After all she probably just had a lot on her mind, focusing on finding the best way to free them. At least something better than what he had suggested.

The skeleton witch was also perfectly aware of the fact that Frisk had many of her other family and friends that she probably desired to catch up with on her time off. So he could have just chalked up her sudden absence from his quarters to that.

Despite all that logic though, he couldn't help but notice the way she rapidly turned the corner down to another way if he happened to be in the vicinity. Perhaps she had always intended to take that route anyway in the previous timeline. But even then, Frisk usually went out of her way slightly to greet him. Even if just to say hello with that wonderfully endearing smile of hers.

But he supposed he shouldn't expect too much from her. Besides, it wasn't as though her world revolved around him. How ever much it bothered him, he knew it was unfair to desire her presence. Even so, he would have at least appreciated a follow up from her concerning Kris.

However, as was per usual for him, he soon found doubt creeping into his mind. And it showed by the replacement of a thoughtful frown on his features.

That kiss. It...it was mutual wasn't it? Yes, he was sure of it. Otherwise Frisk wouldn't do that against her will. So, did that mean that she...?

But she couldn't! Could she? Surely there must be some other reason. He desperately racked his brain for some more logical explanation.

No, even if that had been the case, Frisk wouldn't do something like that anyway. She was far too sincere. Perhaps the most sincere and heartfelt person Sans had ever known.

For her to have kissed him like that must have meant she harbored some feelings for him. Feelings that were different from the friendship they had developed over the years.

And what of himself? His feelings for her. For years he had cherished the human, who had been the first true friend he had ever had. Despite the lies and wickedness he had done, or attempted.

She had forgiven him, defended him, and stayed by his side continuing to give him her support. It was more than he deserved, and surely he should be happy with just that.

The touch of her lips still echoing on his own, filling him with his long ignored dreams.

He let out a heavy sigh of worry soon after though. Even if she did indeed long for him as he had her, it didn't mean others would approve. After all, they had many things going against them.

Although the human was now considered an adult, the age gap between them was still significant. Not to mention the gap in their status, as well as his checkered past. Surely with these factors, there was no way anyone would approve of their relationship.
