Chapter 3: "This is Your Avatar, Now."

A/N: Welcome to the third chapter! This will introduce Norm Spellman, Max Patel, Grace Augustine and the Avatars that my OC, Jake, and Alex will be using. Remember, I own nothing except for my OC, and Alex belongs to someone I'm Rping with!

I narrow my eyes before I walk alongside Alex and Jake's wheelchair. I then turn to hear a man calling out Jake's name and I turn towards him as he walks up.

"Wow, you look just like him," he says. "Sorry, I'm Norm Spellman. I worked with your brother, went through avatar training with him." He then continues to speak as Alex and I listen to him, following them.

"......into the bio lab," Norm is saying as a pair of doors open, and we walk into a place that looks very similar to that of those labs back on Earth before it was dying. "We're gonna spend a lot of time up here." He says. Norm introduces himself again as we continue walking into the lab. As we do, we see these big tubes housing our Avatars, I have to chuckle upon seeing them as a man with dark skin, black curly hair wearing a lab coat and glasses turns to us.

"Hi, I'm Max Patel," he says. "I run these Avatars here. It's good to meet you." Jake looks at the tubes with the Avatars.

"Damn," he says with a chuckle. "They got big."

"Yep," Norm says, standing next to a tube that holds an Avatar that looks like him. "They fully mature on the flight out." Max types something on the screen in front of him, looking up at me.

"You guys can take them out tomorrow if you want. There's yours." He points to the far right, and I step closer to the Avatar.

She is definitely big, around six to ten feet tall if she were standing. In the tank, she's like a baby, just floating there in the water. I notice a bit of features about her that look similar to mine. Wow, they didn't skimp on the fact that I am Native American, she definitely looks more of a darker blue hue than most of the Avatars. I had to smile, looking at the long black braid that extends from the back of her head down. Even her facial features are amazing, she has amazing bone structure, her jawline is perfect, the eyes almond-shaped like my own. I do however notice that her hands are like that of the Na'vi. Four fingers instead of the five that the rest of the Avatars have. I chuckle softly.

"Looks like 'er," I say, referring to my late mother as Norm at my side chuckles. "Looks like you," he says to me. "This is your Avatar now, Siera." I give him a nod. It's still kinda weird that I can link with my mother's Avatar. I wonder if some of the feathers that came in with me can be transferred to my Avatar as well. I'll have to ask one of the doctors beforehand. I step away from my Avatar to get a log in. Not a video log, since I don't like the camera on my face. So I write down what I think in a journal I brought with me from Earth.

"And the concept is that every driver is matched to his own Avatar," Jake is saying into a video log across from me. "So that their nervous systems are in tune, or something. Which is why they offered me the gig, cause I can link with Tommy's Avatar, which is insanely expensive. Is this right?" He turns his head away from the video camera to look at Norm and Max behind him, I just blink my eyes as I watch him do this. Alex just chuckles at his friend.

"I just say whatever to the video log?" I just give him a nod as Norm answers, "yeah, we gotta get in the habit of documenting everything. You know, what we see, what we feel. It's all part of the science."

"And good science is good observation," Max adds. Norm finally puts his two cents in by adding afterwards, "plus it'll help keep you sane for the next six years." I watch Jake as he chuckles, Alex looking at me with slight concern.

"What?" I ask Alex. He shakes his head. "You look tense." He says to me. I chuckle. "Oh, do I now? I haven't noticed." I say to him with a small smile tugging on my lips. Alex shoots me a grin himself, then he and I just start going over video logs and such. I blink my eyes however as I look up, seeing that Max and Norm have already left with Jake, and I'm alone with Alex.

Not awkward at all...I think. But I clear my throat and walk out anyways, Alex following me. At least he's not following me like some lost puppy. I end up writing my first log in the journal that I brought, then I put it up for now. Blinking, I follow the others. We then end up in the link site room, where we'll be linking our minds with that of our avatars. I hear a woman over a PA system saying,

"Attention. Drivers coming out of link." Curious, I walk up as a link bed opens up and a woman lifts her head, groaning.

"Where's the lab coat? The lab coat?" I hear a scientist say as people are rushing.

"Who's got my goddamn cigarette?" The woman says as she swings her legs over the link bed. "Guys, what's wrong with this picture?" A scientist walks up with two things: a lab coat and a cigarette already lit for the woman as she takes it.

"Grace Augustine is a legend," Norm says to us as we walk in the link site. "She wrote the book-I mean, literally wrote the book on Pandoran botany." Max seems to chuckle as he turns to us and says,

"That's because she likes plants better than people. Welcome back, Cinderella from the ball. Grace, I'd like you to meet Norm Spellman, Alex Maverick, Siera Starling and Jake Sully." Grace takes her cigarette out of her mouth and turns to us.

"Norm," she says. "I've heard about you. How's your Na'vi?" Norm chuckles before he answers her,

"May the All Mother grace us with her presence on this meeting." I hum softly, picking up on what he's saying. Grace seems impressed.

"Not bad. You do sound a bit formal." She says to him. Norm chuckles before he says,

"I've studied for five years, but there's still a lot to learn." Grace seems to nod before turning to me and Alex. I immediately reply in Na'vi,

"It is quite the honor, Grace Augustine," I end up shocking her by saying this. "To be in your presence is quite the luxury." Grace nods then says to both me and Alex in Na'vi,

"You guys both know the language then?" Alex nods before he answers her in fluent Na'vi that makes my skin shiver,

"Yes, but we still have a lot to learn ourselves. Me and her both have studied the language faster and more than most." Grace is impressed by this really, before she then looks at Max.

"Grace, this is Jake Sully." He says. Jake holds out his hand.

"Ma'am." He says, but Grace is unimpressed. She blinks as she looks at him.

"Yeah, I know who you are, and I don't need you. I need your brother. You know, the PhD who trained for three years for this mission?" Jake says as bluntly as he can while I stand there gawking at him,

"He's dead. I know it's a big inconvenience for everyone." Grace blinks before she asks him,

"How much lab training have you had?" Jake says this bluntly for the second time as if the rules don't apply to him,

"I dissected a frog once." Grace just looks shocked at this, and she shakes her head.

"You see?" She asks Max. "I mean, they're just pissing on us without the courtesy of calling it rain. I'm going to Selfridge." Max notices this and starts to go after her.

"Grace, no-...."

"You know, this is such bullshit. I'm gonna kick his corporate butt," Grace cuts him off as she starts walking to where Selfridge is. "He has no business sticking his nose in my department." Max sighs before turning to Jake, Alex and myself.

"Be here tomorrow, 0800 hours, try to use big words." He says to us. I nod my head. I then suck in a breath, then let it out gently. I then turn to Alex.

"Can we talk?" I ask him. He cocks his head, his brown eyes looking into my hazel. But he nods, not bothering to question me, which I'm glad for. We walk to the side of the lab then I turn to him.

"I think I can trust yah, given the fact that we don't have long, but I think I can. Especially Grace." Alex nods.

"Is that what you think is true?" He asks me. I nod. I give him a very tight smile and he notices this.

"Smile more genuinely," he says. "You look pretty when you do." I shake my head and tell him, "that's besides the point." He blinks his eyes at me but doesn't say anything more until Max walks back in.

"What are you guys doing back here? Come on, let's get you guys ready for tomorrow. Your Avatars will be decanted and will be ready for use." I nod.

"Yes," I say in Navajo. "Sorry." Alex stops me. He touches my arm before I can move, and I blink my eyes. He then releases my arm.

"Sorry," he says. "It's just....be careful." I give him a nod. I don't know what he wants me to be careful of, but even with his eyes, I can tell he has a good heart, a good soul. My mother has always told me I have quite the affinity for seeing the true hearts and true colors of people around me, no matter who they are. Whether they're good or bad, it all depends on their aura. I can see good blue auras around Jake, Alex, Grace, Max and Norm. Red are for those that have bad intentions, I can tell from half of the soldiers here, even some of the scientists as well. But I choose to not say anything for the time being, instead choosing to just leave and work out my body to keep myself fit.

If only I had known what Col. Quaritch has in store for me, really.

A/N: And that's it for this chapter!! I might do an original chapter later, I'm not sure, but if you guys want me to, I can. Just put in the comments what you want to see next, and I'll see you in the next chapter, whether it's original or following the movie!!
