Chapter 9
(I ♡ Comments :) )
Huey looked at his mirror self, worry clearly visible in his eyes.
"We, we need to hurry then!!" He unexpectedly yelled, covering his beak with shaky hands. "I-I'm sorry..." His voice was muffled and filled with fear. What would happen if he disappeared? Would all the Hueys disappear too? What about the Dewey and Louies in that dimension? Would the entire space-time continuum just disappear because of one small mistake that he had made?
"It's going to be okay Huey, don't worry." Hue grabbed his other self's hands and held them comfortingly. "I know we can do this." Huey smiled softly and nodded. "Alright then, let's get started."
"But where do we start? And shouldn't we tell my Louie our plan before we start?" The original red triplet asked.
"Hm, you're right, but where could Louie be?"
"His, room? You did say that he had become more of a shut-in, so, maybe he's in there." Huey explained.
"Okay, we have to hurry." Hue led his alternate self to Lou's room, knowing that both Louies would have to be in the same area.
"Hue? How long do you think we have? Before we disappear I mean."
"I-I don't know Huey, just, try not to bring it up, okay? It hurts to even think about leaving my brothers alone." Hue looked down at the floor slightly. There were many Hueys, many Deweys, and many Louies, but to each individual person, there was only one individual brother. One Dewey and one Louie to one Huey in every dimension, no matter what kind of place they lived in. Once they reached the room of the alternate Louie, they stood outside the door before they heard talking.
"I can't bring him back, It's not possible." Lou's voice was heard from outside. "The Coraline way won't work Louie, it's just a movie. Well, maybe you should have thought about that before you started fighting with Dewey. I know you worry about him, and- no, wait, I'm talking, be quiet. He can do whatever he wants, tell him once, twice maybe, then if he doesn't listen, let him learn through the pain. Of course, it's a great idea, it's our idea." Lou boasted.
"He's technically talking to himself." Huey laughed awkwardly when he saw the worried expression on his other self's face. "What's the matter?"
"They're talking too loud, both of them. They might get caught."
"They're not gonna get caught Hue, it's fine," Huey reassured as he placed a soft hand on his shoulder.
"Yeah, but, m-my uncle and great uncle don't know you're here and what if one of them starts walking this way and then we have to hide somewhere? What if your uncle saw you through the mirror!?"
"It's okay, calm down Hue, nothing bad is go-"
"Don't say that, don't jinx it, just, just..." Hue took a deep breath in and out. "Sorry, I'm just really nervous about all this." He laughed softly and lifted his hands a bit. "Look at me, I'm shaking." Huey smiled softly.
"It'll be okay,"
"Thanks, Huey. Wait, do you hear that? They stopped talking."
"Oh, hey, yeah you're right. Come on," Huey grabbed his other self's hand and opened the door to Lou's room. He was excited to tell his baby brother their plan. He was excited to tell him that he might be going home, no, that he would go home. He walked into the room and saw his brother's mirror self, sitting on his knees by the mirror.
"Hey, it's okay Louie," Lou reassured his other self.
"No, it's not, m-my big brother is never coming home, ever." Louie was looking down at his lap, tears welled up in the corners of his eyes.
"Louie?" Huey called out softly, in which both Louies turned to look at him.
"H-Huey!" The original green triplet exclaimed happily.
"Hi baby brother, how are you?" He asked softly, sitting down in front of the mirror.
"Hue, when are you coming home? We miss you."
"I know Lou-Lou, I miss you too, and we're working on something to get me home, I promise." Huey put his hand on the mirror, saddened when he couldn't wipe the tears away from his baby brother's eyes.
"We need your help, Louie." Hue stated, walking into view.
"My help? How can I help?"
"Well, I can't exactly just get zapped by a machine without testing it out first, who knows what might happen?" Huey explained.
"That's true, I guess, but what exactly can I do?"
"Well, after we make the machine," Hue started.
"We're going to zap something, and you have to try and see if it showed up."
"But, wouldn't there be two of that one thing over here since you're in the mirror dimension?"
"Oh, he makes a good point Hue. What are we gonna do?"
"What if, you send your Dewey a note or something?" Lou suggested.
"That might work, it just has to work." Hue looked down at the ground and sighed.
"LOUIE! Who are you talking to!?" Dewey's voice was heard in the hallway. Lou looked side to side before getting back in sync with Louie. Both Hueys looked around the dark room before hiding behind Louie's bed. They watched carefully as Dew walked into the room. He, of course, saw them and gave them a worried look before going to where Lou was.
"O-oh, nobody, just, myself?" Louie bit his lip nervously. He saw the Hueys behind his bed and turned around to look at his bed.
"I swear Llewellyn, you're going crazy or some sh*t." Dewey mumbled. Huey cringed when he heard his brother cuss. "What the h*ll were you even 'talking to yourself' about?"
"Um, I was, talking to my reflection about.... Huey."
"Lou-"
"I-I know, he's not coming back...I know..." The green triplet muttered.
"Yeah, and good riddance to him too. That selfish d*mb*ss. H-he literally got himself, k-killed." Dewey looked down at the ground and sighed, wiping his eyes lightly. Huey looked over the bed a bit more. He wanted to show himself to his brother, he wanted to show him that he was alive. He wanted to let him know that he was okay, and that he would be home soon.
(I'M SORRY!!! I KNOW THIS WAS YESTERDAY'S UPDATE, BUT I ALMOST PASSED OUT WHILE WRITING IT! :( )
