Chapter 16
(I ❤❤💙 Comments!)
The following morning, Huey woke up first. He felt refreshed, so refreshed that there was a smile on his face. He got up and fixed himself a bit before going outside.
"Good morning, world!" He exclaimed.
"Oh good, you're up!" Huey grinned. Huey yelped and fell to the ground.
"You scared me!"
"Oh, I'm sorry. Um, where's number two?"
"I'm not sure." Huey stated. Hue walked up to his alternate versions a smile on his face. His hair was messy and his clothes wrinkled, Llewellyn was standing next to him in the same state.
"Good morning, you two." Huey giggled. "Seems like you had a bit of fun."
"Eh, just a bit." Hue shrugged. Llewellyn giggled and kissed his cheek.
"Ick, gross!" Huey looked away.
"What? We just made out a bit, no big deal." Hue muttered.
"Yeah, sure." Dewford popped up out of no where.
"Brother!" Huey and Llewellyn exclaimed, going to hug him.
"Hey, so are these two needs ready to go?"
"Brother, they haven't eaten yet." Llewellyn told him.
"We can steal something from the market so we don't lose our rations." Dewford stated.
"Oh alright." Llewellyn huffed.
"It's okay, Lou-Lou. We'll eat something so you don't worry." Hue smiled.
"Lou-Lou!? Who do you think you're talking to there!?" Dewford growled, gripping his spear.
"N-nothing! I'm sorry!"
"You better be. No one talks to my baby brother that way." Dewford eyed Hue with a glare before going towards them. "Come on, we don't have all day."
"Y-yes, sir." Hue stuttered. Huey and Hue followed Dewford into the forest. There weren't that many trees, but for the trees that were there, they were huge. Their leaves were blowing in the soft breeze seeming to sing a song to tempt them into climbing their branches.
"It's so beautiful here." Huey smiled.
"Hm....yeah, it is." Dewford agreed. The trio kept walking until they were at the end of the forest, the sounds of voices heard. They peered through some bushes seeing the townsfolk in the market.
"What exactly are we looking for?" Hue asked.
"A blue crystal. It'll be the power source for my brother's machine. We tried to find other sources of power, but nothing worked. When he heard of this, he knew he needed it immediately, but there were only a few ever found and one of them is in this market."
"Why do we have to steal it though? Can't we just earn some money and buy it?" Hue was confused, he felt that that would be easier that risking spending the rest of their short existence in a prison.
"The exiled can't earn money, stupid. We're exiled from any job here in this kingdom and are fugitives in the surrounding lands, if we get caught, they'll have our heads." Dewford explained to the two, making them nervous. "Now, be as quiet as possible, um, you." He pointed to Huey. "You stay here and keep an eye open for us. You, come with me. I want a word with you." Huey and Hue looked at each other before separating. Huey stayed in the bushes and Hue went with Dewford.
"What do you want to talk about?" Hue wondered.
"My brother, Llewellyn."
"Oh, h-him?"
"Yes, him. I know you two are destined to be together. I knew from the moment I saw the prophecy on the wall."
"Me, a-and him?" Hue stuttered, trying to be as quiet as possible.
"Yes, you and him. You know, you can't take him with you, correct?"
"Yeah, I know. Only the Hueys continue."
"Right, but if all goes well, then it'll be possible to travel interdemsionaly with no consequences. Being able to hop from place to place, see other lands, explore the unknown." Dewford sighed with a smile on his face.
"Seems to me like you really want to get out of here."
"I do. Oh, how I wish I could leave this place with you three, but I can't. It's impossible until you defeat the creator."
"Dewford, if- when we defeat the creator, we'll come back and visit and take you and your brothers everywhere."
"Wow, thanks." Dewford smiled.
"Hey, um...about Llewellyn..."
"I give you my blessing."
"You mean that?" Hue gasped, a smile on his face. "Oh, thank you!"
"Sh! Someone might hear you. Now hurry."
"Right." Hue followed Dewford into the market place, hiding behind the stands.
"Keep an eye out for it, it can be anywhere."
"Found it." Hue stated.
"What?"
"It's right there, across the road. I see it in a glass case."
"Nice job. Good eye." Hue smiled.
"Stay here while I go get it, okay?"
"Alright. Be careful."
Hue sat there, watching Dewford go and get the crystal. He was nervous, afraid that someone would catch him and then find Huey and himself. He took a deep breath to steady himself and before he knew it, Dewford was back, the blue crystal in his hand.
"You did it!" Dewford stuffed a piece of bread in his mouth.
"Quiet." He shushed.
"Where did you get this?"
"Just stole it, now let's hurry and get out of here." Dewford grabbed his hand and rushed back to where Huey was.
"You got the crystal. You actually got it. I'll be home in no time." Huey beamed. Dewford smiled and handed him some bread.
"Here."
"Oh, thank you." Huey smiled, eating it. The middle triplet nodded and started heading back into the forest, followed by the Hueys.
