A million words would not bring you back, I know because I tried,
Neither would a million tears, I know because I cried.

....................................
4 years later.
It was a new day with new beginnings and new blessings. She would be facing new opportunities today with the right mind and she wanted to remain positive.
It's amazing how life can change when you aren't even ready for it.
Faikha dressed herself in a neatly ironed salwar suit and drapped her hijab properly. She wore a watch on her left wrist. She took out her wallet from the side table and kept it inside her purse.
"You can't be late for the first day of your internship Faikha" Niyamath yelled from the living room.
She checked her purse. She checked if she had all the necessary documents, her ID card, passport size photographs and admission letter.
"I'm coming Niyamath. Just had to arrange some things in my bag," she said entering the living room.
"Ab Chalo I'm getting late. What are you waiting for?" she turns to look at him who was watching her with scrutinizing gaze.
"Breakfast?"
"I'll have something in the hospital canteen. I'm getting late Chalo naa yaar" she huffed. It was her first day of internship in a hospital. She had completed her studies in the past 4 years.
She sat beside him in his car and was waiting for him to start driving. She looked at him and saw him sitting leisurely in his seat.
"Niyamath Mai phele he tension me hoon. Jaldi Chalo na yaar. I don't want to be late on my first day of internship" she cried like a child.
"I'll drive if you promise me you will eat this" he forwarded a box of sandwiches and a small tetra pack of juice. She smashed her head with her hand and took the box from him while glaring at him and huffing. He had a victorious smirk on his face.
Once he saw her opening the box and eating, he started driving.
"Do you still miss him?" he asked without looking at her.
"No" she replies instantly.
"I didn't mention anyone's name Faikha"
"I was talking about Sajid" he rolled his eyes at her, he knew she was lying.
"Well, I wasn't. I can't see you all broken Faikha. Just let it go. Why are you giving so much importance to that guy? " he asked.
"Because he was the one who helped us get out of Khala's wrath. If he wouldn't have been there that day, I would have been married to Hamid secretly. Anyways I do not want to talk about it now"
She had left a part of herself behind. Only time would tell what this new beginning would bring for her.
She was finally back with her family now and doing what she liked, away from all the trauma her life had caused.
They had shifted back to the mansion in which they lived before their parent's death.
But she couldn't forget the longing she had for a particular someone. She had missed her best friend. Life had once again played with her. A sense of longing for the particular blue eyes.
Once they reached her college, she got down and after biding him she walked in for a new phase of life. Hope for a new beginning in life.
She reported to the senior doctor and was introduced to the fellow interns, and was given instructions on how the hospital works, the shift timings, the operation theatre, the outpatient department, the inpatient department, the meeting room, etc.
She had made two new friends. Zaira and Abdullah.
"It's just the first day and I'm already bored" Sameer complained while sitting on a chair during their lunch break.
"When are you not bored Sam?" Zaira rolled her eyes at him. Both of them were from the same college and had been best of friends.
Seeing both of them bickering over little things, she remembered a certain blue eyed person and herself fighting for little things, having chai together, enjoying little moments together.
She wasn't envious of the duo sitting in front of them, but she missed being with someone like that.
She brushed the thoughts aside and continued having her lunch.

She reached home late at night and was tired. But she was never tired of going to the terrace and watching the stars all by herself. After that moment she never looked at the stars the same way like they used to.
The cold breeze had picked up its pace and the moon was gleaming in the starry night. She kept looking at the moon. The same moon they used to watch from the terrace and admire it together. But sadly she was alone this time.
She opened the diary he had gifted and started to pen her emotions in it.
Dear diary,
I will never be able to forget him. I had always loved the colour of his eyes, but I couldn't find similar blue sparkling eyes. I always tried to search for his contagious smile, yet I failed many times.
There is always pain and rushing back memories. I wish I had said yes that day. I wish my last words were yes, I love you too. But I had sadly lost that chance. I wish I could bring you back. I wish if you would remember that you have left a special someone behind. But life isn't how we always wish it would be.
Faikha.
She was reliving her past 4 years.
She had moved back with her brother into their old mansion. Both of them had completed their studies.
She had given the NEET exam and was selected in the best Medical College. She had completed her degree and was now performing 6 months internship in a well-known hospital.
But she still felt a void in her life.
How easily he had forgotten her. How easily he had forgotten 1 year of his life.
*Flashback*
The doctor had informed Zair, that she couldn't save him and he had slipped into a coma.
Zair had somehow informed his family about Sahil.
Nadir came rushing to the hospital. He hadn't informed Faikha about it.
Nadir had seen his elder brother laying on a hospital bed, with all kinds of machines attached to his body, his head was wrapped in a large bandage. He could see the heartbeat monitor show his unsteady heartbeat.
His parents were shattered to find their elder son in this condition.
Nadir had thanked Zair a thousand times for saving his elder brother and rushing him to the hospital.
Zair had informed Nadir that it wasn't a case of an accident but a case of attempted murder and being a lawyer himself he would look after putting the criminal behind bars.
Zair had solved the case and he got to know that Hamid was behind the accident. He had charged him on the case of an attempt to murder and also the smuggling case. He had put Hamid behind bars for 15 years.
Nadir had informed Faikha that Sahil had slipped into coma. She had come rushing to see him after being away for almost a week. She was angry at Nadir for not informing her.
"I didn't want to spoil your happy moment with your family Faikha" was all be had said.
Finally, he had woken up from coma after 6 months. All of them were happy that he woke up after 6 months.
She had waited for 6 freaking months. Those were the hardest 6 months of her life. But only if she knew it wasn't the end of her wait.
She rushed to his hospital room and found him surrounded by his family. She waited for them to meet him and once they moved she went ahead and stood at the edge of his bed.
He looked at her and blinked. His facial expressions were flat. He kept looking at her and blinked as though wondering who she was.
He finally turned to Nadir and asked, "Nadir ye Kaun hai?"
She couldn't believe her ears. She thought maybe he is pranking her.
"Sahil stop playing your pranks. I won't fall for it this time"
"I'm sorry but do I know you?" he asked again. She blinked her eyes at him. No this couldn't happen.
"I'm sorry I was just your intern doctor for 6 months. I forgot you're seeing me for the first time" saying this she rushed out of the room. And the dam finally broke. He had forgotten her.
He forgets her that easily.
Nadir turned towards his doctor and the doctor signalled him to follow him to his cabin.
"Nadir I will take some tests and see what is the problem with him. You don't worry" he nodded his head and came outside to witness Faikha crying silently in a corner. He could understand her pain. He too was broken after he saw Sahil not recognizing the love of his life.
Nadir came to her side and kept his hand on her shoulder.
"Faikha. I'm sorry. I don't know what to say"
"It's alright Nadir. It's not your fault. Ye Justajoo meri taqdeer me Likha hua hai. Ye sab meri galti hai. I wish I hadn't come into your life. I wish Hamid hadn't attacked him. I wish. I really wish"
After some time the doctor informed them that Sahil had faced Retrograde Amnesia (partial memory loss). He had also asked them to not give him any kind of stress as it would affect his mental health.
After listening to this Faikha broke down once again. She would ask about him from Nadir but she would never face him in reality. She didn't know what would she do once she would come in front of him. She decided to give him his space and to not affect his mental health.
*End of flashback*
She closed her diary and blinked her painful tears away.
Somewhere between 'I love you to 'Do I know you' they had drifted apart.
She had known that he was a well know lawyer now. Nadir used to call her sometimes and ask her if she was fine and happy. She would smoothly lie to him. That is what she had been doing for the past 4 years. Putting on a facade in front of others. But only her heart knew how broken she was.
She heard Niyamath calling her, she instantly wiped out her tears and went downstairs.

Somewhere in other parts of the city, someone snapped open his eyes in the middle of the night. He was feeling restless. So he decided to go stroll around on the terrace. His blue orbs boring towards the house next to his own, soul yearning for certain someone as a known blurry image of two figures come to live there. One his own, another too known, too unknown.
A flash of him talking to her, of her listening to him. And then he blinks and it's gone. Gone into the air just like every time. A sad smile appears on his lips, "I miss you" He does. Whom? He doesn't know. But she is someone too special for him, someone, who resides in his soul and rules his heart. And knows he will get her back, sooner or later.
The yearning is here, the reminiscences are not.
Usse apni mohabbat yaad thi, apni mehbooba nahi.
"Sahil bhai? What are you doing here?" Nadir's sudden voice brings him back to the present. He smiles at him. His brother supported him in every little thing over the years.
Sometimes he really wonders maybe Nadir knows about the girl too, but then again no matter how many times he tried to confront him he would just brush it off. But he never denies that.
"Nothing. Just thinking about something." Of someone.
"Come sleep now. You have an early morning hearing tomorrow"
"Nadir?" he called out.
"Yes?"
"Do you know who she is?" Nadir was shocked.
Nadir for once wants to say yes. For once he wants them together but then again doctors have strictly restricted them from doing so. And he is just being a selfish brother who no matter what couldn't afford to lose him. So he gulps and smiles. A smile that doesn't reach his eyes.
"I don't know what you are talking about and I think you should sleep now." And he leaves without further delay.
"Usey main yaad toh hun na?" Sahil asked and Nadir's steps halted. A sad smile covers his lips but Sahil missed that.
And then he whispers, "Khud se zyada." with that he leaves.
Sahil follows his suit but then stops once again looking at that house next to his, a certain longing, a yearning.
"Jaha bhi ho, jo hon, bass thoda aur intezaar kar lon mera" A wish and it was heard every time.

The next morning the serene fajar ki adhan fills the room as he sits with his head low and hands up, asking his Rabb.
Sajdeh mein usne apni mohbaat ki duan mangi.
Faikha woke up for Fajr Salaah.
She cried her heart out in the prostration. She found peace each time she did that. After rising from the prostration, she sat in the tashahud position and said the prayers. She turned her head to the right side and said salam and she then turned to the right side and did the same.
She lifted her hands and said the Duas to be recited after obligatory prayers. She lifted her hands and cupped her face. Tears were freely flowing from her face. She prayed just like she used to pray for him every day.
"Ya Allah I only wish for him to remain safe. I do not want him to fall into any trouble because of me. Ya Allah I've hope he remembers me someday"
How beautiful is it to pray for someone without them knowing.
And finally, the sun rose. Filling the sky with its colours from pink, orange, and radiating hope. Hope for a new beginning. Only time would tell what this new beginning would bring.
