Is harm worth the good
Sometimes serious actions need to be taken for the greater good. Inflicting harm on few in order to benefit many is an unfortunate but necessary part of life. Without it, society would never make the same kind of advancements.
Some people may argue that it's unfair to those who are harmed throughout this process, but that's an illogical viewpoint because it's chosen at random or voluntarily. For example, The Humane Society reports that many animals are tested on in medical experiments. While it may sound appalling at first, many of these experiments greatly impacts humans and allows for a multitude of vaccines to be produced.
Another way that exemplifies harming a few for the greater good is how the United States is able to draft men into the military if necessary when at war. Though some of those people may not want to fight in a war, it could be vital for the survival of our country. Without anyone fighting, the county wouldn't stand a chance. Similar to this is how people are required to pay taxes. It's unpleasant, yet without taxes we wouldn't have clean or functioning public facilities. Even though unenjoyable it's still a necessary part of how the country functions.
There would also never be the same type of societal advancements without harming a few. In Frankenstein, the lives of Walton's crew are at risk as they search for alternative trade routes. By finding better routes, the lives of other people will be significantly easier and more efficient despite the risk Walton's crew are faced to endure as a result. Similarly, in Spiderman No Way Home, Peter sacrifices the memory of his loved ones in order to save the universe. This causes him to be distraught but he does it anyway knowing that it'll save countless lives.
The infliction of harm on a couple lives is necessary for the greater good, preservation of others and societal advancements. It's not always pleasant, but a normal part of life.
