Meeting the jerk

I'm woken at 6:30, to the sun shining in my room and the birds chirping outside my bedroom window. I walk over to the window and look at the birds in the tree. I can hear the cars on the street.

I get changed into a pair of shorts, tank top and slip into a pair of thongs. I look around my bedroom for any last minute stuff I need to pack into my bag.

In the kitchen I pull out a bowl and make cereal. I sit at the table and eat.

After breakfast I wash the dishes and then go into the bathroom and brush my teeth and hair. I put my blonde hair into a ponytail.

I pick up my bag and head for the door.

At the door someone knocks on it. I pull the door open and drop my bags on the floor.

The guy smiles. "Hi, I'm Austin. Your Hubby For Hire."

My mouth drops open.

He's not supposed to be here.

I take him in.

Austin is 6.2ft, tanned skin, strong jaw, he has an eight pack, muscular, black hair and blue eyes.

He smirks. "Do you like what you see, Darling?"

I roll my eyes. "Cocky much?"

He laughs and it send tingles through my body.

Austin gets on one knee.

What the hell is he doing?

He pulls out a box. "I Austin, take you Valentina to be my Wife." He slips the ring on my wedding finger. Austin gives me the other box. "You need to say something and slip the ring on mine."

I smile and take his ring out of the box. "I Valentina, take you Austin to be my Hubby For Hire." I smirk. "Now, you can take my bags to the car." I open the door for him and he picks up my bags.

I watch him walk down the stairs. His jeans hugs all the right places.

I lock the condo and start to head for the stairs.

Nico steps out of his condo. "Did you get your surprise.

I turn to him. "You gave him my address?"

He shakes his head. "No, I gave him mine. I wanted to meet him before he met you."

I hug him. "Thank you, Nico."

He kisses my cheek. "Have fun."

I walk down the stairs and out the door. A limo is parked on the curb and Austin is standing next to it. "You got a limo?"

He nods. "I wanted to impress you."

"You don't need to do that. Be yourself and we will be good."

"Get in the car."

I climb into the limo and he follows. The driver pulls onto the road and we head for the airport.

There's a bottle of wine on the door and eight glasses.

Austin pops the top off the wine and pours two glasses. He gives me the glass and I take it from him. "Thank you."

"Let's make a toast."

I smile. "To getting to know each other and fooling my family into believing that I'm married to you."

He laughs. "Cheers," he clinks his glass against mine and we drink.

His hand brushes against mine and I feel an electric current run through body body from the single touch. He winks at me.

I can easily fall for this guy.

I shake my head to try and clear it from all thoughts of the sexy Adonis beside me. Valentina rule number 1. Don't fall for him.

He smirks.

I can't stand the silence.

I cross my legs and look at the sexy Adonis in front of me. "What's your favourite colour?"

"Blue, yours?"

"Light purple."

"What's our cover story?" Austin asks.

"We met in Vegas at my friends Hens night, got drunk and got married. We decided that we wanted to stay married and we've been in love since." I flutter my eyes at him.

He laughs. "I like that cover story. It's close enough to being true."

"I just hope none of your previous clients will be there."

He frowns. "Why would you say that?"

"My father is Gavorner of New York City. That's one of the reasons I had to get away."

Austin smiles. "This Wedding must be the one to watch this year."

I roll my eyes. "Or it will be the scandalous."

He laughs. "I can't wait to meet the family."

I don't want him to meet my family. I'd rather keep them in New York City and live my own life in Los Angeles.

I look out the window and watch the palm trees disappear from view. The limo pulls into the airport. The driver opens the door and I step out of the car. I get my bags from the boot and walk into the airport with Austin.

Austin and I check in. I put my bags on the conveyer belt and watch is disappear. Austin's bags get checked in and then we walk through security and then head to our gate to wait to board the plane.

"Do you want to get something to eat?" Austin asks.

"Yeah," Austin and I walk over to the eatery I order a fruit salad and a bottle of water. I look for somewhere to sit and wait for Austin.

Austin walks over with a meal from Macca's.

I open the lid from the salad and stick my fork into a grape and put it in my mouth. I scrunch up my nose to the smell of the food Austin is about to eat.

He shoves a couple fries into his mouth. "Do you want some?"

"No, thanks. I can smell the grease from here." I open the bottle of water and take a drink.

I close the lid and a little bit of water drips off my lip and Austin licks his lips.

I crock my finger at him and he leans across the table and I hit him at the back of the head. "Keep that tongue in your mouth."

He smirks. "I will for now. When we kiss I'll slip it into your mouth." He sits back in his chair and winks at me.

Oh, boy. This ones going to be trouble.

Our gate is called to board the plane. I out my rubbish in the bin.

Austin and I walk to the gate and show our tickets to the flight attendant. She tears the ticket and gives it back to us. Austin and I board the plane.

The flight attendant says. "Can I see your ticket?"

I show her the ticket and she tells me where our seat are. Austin takes my bag from me and puts it in the overhead compartment.

I take the window seat and look out the window. Austin sits and his arm grazes against mine. I move my arm and buckle my seatbelt.

The flight attendants go through the pre flight stuff. The plane moves down the runway and it takes off. I hold onto the armrest tightly and my knuckles turn white.

Austin whispers. "Are you afraid to fly?"

I shake my head. "I hate the take-offs."

"You can hold my hand if you want."

I loosen my grip on the chair as the plane evens out.
