Worried Part 2

Astrid was just finishing up the story of when Hiccup fainted after Astrid told him she was pregnant when Hiccup ran over to them.

"Hey Astrid, sorry we ran a little late. Do you— Heather?" His eyes landed on the dark haired woman sitting across from his wife. Heather shot up.

"Hey Hiccup. I crash landed here and hoped to stay on Berk until tomorrow morning." Heather asked.

"Fine with me." Hiccup sat next to Astrid, took Finn into his arms, stood and started throwing and catching him.

"You make me nervous when you do that." Astrid said, standing, and looking at them wearily. Hiccup purposely didn't catch him until right before he hit the ground just to tick Astrid off.

"Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III. Do not do that again." She said glaring. Hiccup laughed and kissed the baby's cheek before setting him on his hip.

"So, how's Fishlegs?" Heather asked. Hiccup and Astrid shared a knowing look. "What?"

"Well, He has a girlfriend. He's well." Astrid said. Heather looked down but soon covered it with a forced smile.

"Good for him! Can I maybe see him? I won't try anything!" She said quickly.

"We didn't think you would." Hiccup said with a laugh. "But yeah. He's at the arena teaching kids about dragons and all that knowledge." Hiccup grabbed Astrid's hand that wasn't holding onto Finn and laced their fingers.

They arrived at arena and Astrid did a little jump and a squeal. Hiccup slowly turned his head to look at her weirdly. "Did you just squeal?" Hiccup asked incredulously. Astrid smiled at him and nodded.

"I'm excited to see this reunion." She adjusted Finn and glared. "You got a problem with that?"

"No, no, no." Hiccup said quickly as he looked anywhere but at Astrid.

"Good, now let's go!" And she walked straight into the arena. "Fishlegs." She said in a sing-song voice. Said man turned around.

"Yeah?" He replied. Then Heather stepped out from behind Astrid. "Heather?"

"Hi, Fishlegs." She said awkwardly.

"What are you doing here?" He sounded more curious than rude.  Heather rubbed her arm.

"Windshear crash landed and needs time to rest before we get back to Berserker Island." She waved her hand in the air.

"How's Dagger?" Tuffnut asked, appearing beside Fishlegs. Heather smiled.

"He's going to be a father, actually. In about five months." Heather told everyone.

"That's great!" Fishlegs exclaimed.

"Congrats!" Tuff said.

"That's amazing!" Astrid squealed.

"What is it with you and squealing today?!" Hiccup asked exasperated. Astrid turned to him, put a hand on her hip, and glared.

"I could punch you so hard your head would fly off your neck right now, Hiccup. I'd watch it." she said pointedly. (I'm dying. 😂) Hiccup put his arms up in an 'I surrender' gesture and took a step back.

"I see nothing has changed." Heather muttered to Fishlegs while gesturing to Hiccup and Astrid.

"Nope. They love each other and it's really funny to watch them bicker like this." Fishlegs let out a quiet laugh. "You should have heard them this morning in the Great Hall." Tuffnut laughed.

"That was funny. I liked when Astrid asked if the bruise was from-" Fishlegs cut him off.

"Tuffnut! That's not our business to talk about!" He scolded.

"Fishlegs, you forgot to feed my bore." Ruffnut yelled when she walked into the arena. "Hey Heather."

"Hey Ruffnut." She said nicely.

"Ruffnut, your bore is not my problem!" Fishlegs told his girlfriend. (I'm just going off from the end of HTTYD 3 when Ruffnut excepted Fishlegs. This is the only spoiler. Nothing else happened from the third movie in this one shot.)

"I know but I asked you this morning and you said you would." Ruff said. Fishlegs rolled his eyes.

"I was running late to the class I had to teach and didn't have time to feed your pet." Fishlegs spat.

"He is not a pet! He is an equal!" Ruffnut said. "Right, Tuff?"

"Huh?" Came Tuffnut's intelligent answer.

"Never mind. Anyway what brings you to Berk?" Ruffnut said and Heather told her the story. Then the cockiest Viking of all time walked into the arena.

"Who is ready for Mr. Awesomeness to teach you to ride a dragon? Because I am obviously the best to teach it." Snotlout said. Astrid turned towards him, rolled her eyes, and sighed.

"No one asked you to come here, Snotlout. Go away. You're annoying." She deadpanned. He turned to Astrid.

"No one asked you to speak, Astrid. So shut up, Astrid." He shot back.

"I don't need my son's brain turning to mush because of your smarty comebacks." She said.

"Your son doesn't need to be here." He sneered. Astrid started walking over to Snotlout. Hiccup sighed, looked at his son, and shook his head.

"Your mommy is a crazy warrior violent lady, isn't she?" He said. He watched his wife punch his cousin in the gut and walk back over to him with a smug look. "You had to didn't you?"

"Yup." She said. She turned to Heather who was talking and laughing with Fishlegs and Ruffnut. "Heather, do whatever you want today. You can stay at our house tonight."

"Okay, thanks, Astrid."

"Hiccup, let's go." She grabbed his hand and they walked around the village.  "What was the meeting about?"

"You know the Nordic Tribe?" He asked her. She nodded.

"Yeah, Nordic Isle right?" She asked.

"Yeah. Anyway dragon hunters attacked so they're calling all Chiefs and Chieftess' in the Archipelago to go against the dragon hunters. So Heather, Dagger, Alvin, Lozack, and more that I haven't met." Hiccup said.

"I'm going with you." Astrid said right away.

"No, you need to stay with Finn." He said.

"Your mom can watch him!" She pushed.

"No. He needs his mother. He adores you. It will only be a week."

"Exactly! He can live without me for a week!"

"What's he going to eat?"

"Yack milk! I'm going with you."

"No, he can't have yack milk until he's one. We can't risk him losing two parents, Astrid." Hiccup said as he wrapped an arm around her waist. Astrid bit her lip.

"Just promise me nothing will go wrong and you'll come back." She said.

"I can't promise that, Astrid. You know that." Hiccup said looking at Finn who fell asleep in his arms.

"When do you leave?" Astrid asked.

"Tomorrow morning." Hiccup noticed his wife's sad expression. "How about my mom watches Finn right now and we can do something until we have to go home."

"Yeah, sure." Astrid smiled.

--------

They dropped Finn off and were making their way to Itchy Armpit on their respective dragons. They landed and sat on the edge of the cliff, their legs dangling off the edge. Astrid laid her head on Hiccup's shoulder and wrapped her arms around his middle. He leaned his head on top of hers and let out a content sigh, enjoying the peaceful moment.

"Do you still have that betrothal necklace?" Hiccup asked.

"Uh, yeah. It's in the drawer on my nightstand." She replied. "Why?"

"Just wondering. It's been what? Four years since I gave it to you?"

"Yeah. I still get embarrassed from time to time when I remember I never got you a gift." She said. Hiccup chuckled.

"I already told you, M'lady. You are the greatest gift in the world." He kissed the top of her head. Astrid turned and captured his lips on hers. She kept on arms around him as the other went to his hair. Hiccup wrapped his arms around her waist and deepened the kiss. He was about to un-tuck her shirt when she pulled away.

"Not here." She shook her head. "Tonight." (I will not be writing that  It is just implied.)

"Okay." He was about to peck her lips when Toothless plopped his head down on Hiccup's chest causing the Chief to fall on his back. "Oof. Toothless!" Toothless licked Hiccup's armor and Hiccup made  a noise of disgust. Toothless got up and chased after Stormfly as Astrid laughed at him. He sat up and glared. "You think this is funny?" he wiped some of his dragon's slobber onto his hands and flicked it at Astrid.

"Eww!" She wiped her hand on her cheek. "That's gross Hiccup."

"You asked for it!" He laughed.

"You also asked for this." She growled and Hiccup gulped. The next thing Hiccup knew, they were wrestling on the cliff as their dragons watched in amusement. Hiccup flipped them over so he was on top but then she flipped them back. He reached his arm down and started tickling her side. She collapsed next to him and started laughing.

"Stop!" She laughed. "Hiccup! You're asking for a punch, mister!" He stopped tickling her and jumped up. She jumped up and punched his shoulder.

"Astrid! That bruise is never going away!" He complained.

"I told you, already. That bruise is not from my punches!" Astrid said and smirked.

"Whatever." He rubbed his sore shoulder. He plopped down on the grass and Astrid looked down at him.

"You gonna pout, Honey? Like a baby?" She taunted. Hiccup smirked.

"With that attitude you aren't getting anything from me tonight." that shut her up. She plopped down next to him and played with his fingers as he told her stories of times on the Edge when she wasn't with him, chief stuff, and arguments between the twins.

-----

After an hour of joking around, talking, and cuddling Hiccup and Astrid decided to go eat dinner at the Great Hall.

They landed in front of the Great Hall, hopped off their dragons, linked hands, and walked into the building full of ravenous vikings. Hiccup went to get food while Astrid sat down at an empty table. Hiccup returned to the table with two plates filled with food and saw his wife smiling at something across the room. He sat down and looked at her with curiosity.

"What?" He asked. Astrid pointed at a table and Hiccup looked. he saw Heather, the twins, Fishlegs, Snotlout, and his mom. Sitting on the table in front of Valka was their son, Finn, babbling away in baby talk. Hiccup smiled and turned back to his wife to see her not there. "Astrid?" He turned and saw her quietly making her way over behind Finn. He chuckled as she lifted him up and Finn gave a little shriek but then saw it was his mom and started giggled. Astrid turned him around in her arms so he was facing her and kissed his blonde head. Finn placed his palms on Astrid's cheeks and smiled a big gummy smile in which Astrid returned. Astrid then sat next to Valka and joined in on the conversation. Hiccup walked over and placed his hands on her shoulders and too joined in.

LINE BREAK---

Astrid placed a sleeping Finn in his wooden crib, shut the door, and walked back to her and Hiccup's room. She smirked at him and wrapped her arms around her husband's neck.

"You leave tomorrow." She said. He nodded.

"I'll be back in a week." He replied.

"I know but just in case I never see you again..." She crashed her lips to his in a passionate kiss and they fell on to the bed.

LINE BREAK---

Astrid and Finn were standing on the dock, along with the rest of the Village. She waved to Heather as she took off into the sky and turned to Hiccup who just sat down on Toothless' back. She kissed him and he kissed Finn's head.

"I love you." She told him and kissed him again. She pulled away after a few seconds.

"I love you, too. I'll be back before you know it." Then he took off and Astrid stood there waving with Finn in her arms. She turned around and faced Valka.

"Don't worry, Dear." Her mother-in-law comforted. Astrid smiled.

"I can't help it." Astrid said. "He's my husband after all."

LINE BREAK---

It was the day Hiccup would come home so she got dressed, got Finn dressed, and walked out the door. He would be arriving around noon and according to the sun it was maybe two hours from noon. She decided to go to the Great Hall for some breakfast.  She got a plate and sat down with her friends with Finn sitting on her lap. She had fed Finn right before they left the house.

"So, you excited?" Snotlout asked as he noticed the sparkled in her eyes, smile on her lips, and the bounce of her leg. Astrid nodded.

"Yeah. Wouldn't you be if your spouse was coming home from a one week... battle." She asked.

"Good point." He continued eating.

Two hours passed and almost all of Berk went to go meet their Chief. The stood by the docks waiting. Astrid looked at the sky, horizon, and ocean constantly.  They still waited. Waited. And waited. They waited for an hour. Two hours. Three hours. Soon Villagers slowly, one by one, started to disperse and continue with their day. Astrid waited until sun down until she went home and put Finn to bed. She sat on the couch, staring at the fire, as Valka sat in Stoick's old chair and sewed.

"Worried?" Valka asked.

"Yeah. WHat if something happened?" Astrid asked. "What if he's injured and can't get help? What if he was captured by the dragon hunters? What if Toothless was injured and they can't come back. What if he-"

"Don't finish that sentence because you know he isn't. " Valka told her daughter-in-law sternly. Astrid nodded.

"I'm going to bed. Goodnight, Valka." The young blonde hen climbed up the stares, entered her room, changed into her nightgown, and fell asleep.

LINE BREAK---

She woke up to a baby wailing and slowly walked into Finns room. She picked up her son and bounced him.

"You hungry?" She asked as she sat in the rocking chair and guided him to her breast where he latched on and started to eat. She stroked his cheek and smiled at him. "I love you. Your daddy loves you too and will come home. I promise you. A-and if he doesn't you and I will be just fine with Grandma. I guarantee he will come back. The battle probably just went on longer than it should have." He stopped eating so she pulled her nightgown but down and laid him in his crib and he fell asleep. She then too fell back asleep.

LINE BREAK---

When she woke up Valka had said she wanted to spend time with her grandson so she found herself sitting on a wooden pole/beam looking out into the ocean, waiting for Hiccup to return. A few hours passed and she got very worried.

"Still worried?" She heard Valka say. She turned to look at her.

"Valka!" She swung down from the beam and landed in front of Hiccup's mother.

"You should try not to worry. He's only a day late." Valka reasoned.

"What me? Worried?" Astrid said looking away.  "I trust him to be safe."

"DRAGON RIDERS TO THE SOUTH!" Snotlout's voice boomed. Astrid's head whipped around.

"I should go." She ran to the direction of Snotlout. "Stormfly!" Her dragon landed next to her and she hopped on her and landed next to the Gang. She pushed her way through the crowd and saw Hiccup holding his bloody side, limping, and holding on to Toothless. She gasped and ran forward.

"Hiccup!" She put her arm around him to help him walk to Gothi's.

LINE BREAK---

Astrid paced nervously with Finn in her arms as Gothi checked Hiccup. An hour later Gothi came out of the room she was in and motioned for her to come in. She sat in a chair next to her husband. His side was bandaged, as was his bicep, his prosthetic was taken off, and he had no shirt on. He was sleeping and she placed Finn on her lap.

He woke up and looked at her. "Astrid-" He croaked. "-I'm sorry." Astrid kissed him, pulled away, and stroked his cheek.

"Shh. It's okay. You're here now. And you'll live... I think." She smirked. Hiccup rolled his eyes.

"You missed me?" He asked.

"very much." She replied. He smirked.

"Which part of me." Astrid slapped his good arm.

"Oh shut up." She laughed. Hiccup took Finn out of her arms and they started talking in baby gibberish as Astrid walked with a smile.

It was good to have him back.

THE END. sorry if it was rushed.
