What if Hiccup didn't dodge one of Johann's knives in 'In Plain Sight'?

"I'll take those Dragon Eyes boy." Johann said in s menacing tone. Hiccup sighed and turned around but gasped when he saw the knives Johann was holding. 

"Look whatever Krogen and Viggo are paying you-" Hiccup started but was interrupted.

"Paying me?" Johann gestured to himself. "Those two? I pay them. To serve at my feet"

"Why do you even want these? And why now?" Hiccup asked while he held  on tight to the satchel that the Dragon Eye lenses were in.  

"Because they're the next next step into finding the King of Dragons." He said as he walked closer to Hiccup. Hiccup backed up when he walked towards him.  "And the key to yours truly becoming the richest man on earth." Hiccup's eyebrows scrunched together and he looked down. His head snapped up.

"Heather's lens." Hiccup said in realization. Johann laughed and clapped his hands.

"Well done, Hiccup. Don't be so morose. How do you think it's been for me? Pretending all these years to actually care about you and your little friends? The number of times I just wanted to scream at the top of my..." He tried up his voice getting louder as he spoke. He lifted his fists in the air and shook them and then set them back down at his side. "And yet I'm wondering why aren't more surprised? And what do you find humorous?" He pointed his knife at HIccup. Hiccup chuckled.

"The twins and their rants. I ignore most of them but this spy thing had me thinking." He started walking around Johann. "Maybe it was a coincidence that the dragon hunters ambushed us but how did they know to ask about the Dragon Eye lenses? The lenses I only brought because you asked me to. Then things started to add up. You were there when Heather lost her lens. Your distress call got most of us off the Edge right when the Dragon Hunters decided to invade. You sent us after Dagger. Assuring us he'd be alone. And your ship was conveniently docked at Outcast Island when he broke out of prison."

"The most difficult part was letting him think he actually stole my ship." Johann said. Hiccup's face showed of surprise and realization.

"You've been behind all of this." Hiccup said.

"Since as far back as Breakneck Bog, I've been doing anything humanly possible to rig the Archipelago of you and your Dragon Riders but you have a most annoying habit of not dying when your supposed to." Johann said threateningly as he moved closer to Hiccup with the knife pointing at Hiccup's chest. Hiccup glared.

"You have your own pesty habit. You never stop talking. You give away pretty much everything, especially when you think you have the upper hand. You see when I did this little move to Toothless-" HIccup waved his finger in a circle in the air. "-to leave, leaving was actually the last thing I told him to do." Toothless came out of his hiding spot and growled at Johann.

"The Sandbuster was surely hear when a plasma blast is fired." Johann told Hiccup.

"Probably. But I just don't see a needing a plasma blast for this." Hiccup told Johann with crossed arms. Johann turned and ran as Toothless stepped forward and got caught in a net. "Toothless!" Johann chuckled.

"Now I believe we are all caught up. The lenses please, now." Johann stuck out his hand as if expecting Hiccup just to hand over the lenses. HIccup groaned and held out the satchel. Johann took it but gasped. "What?" He took out a necklace made of gold. He threw the bag and necklace and looked around. Hiccup no where to be seen.  "Oh, Hiccup, why make this anymore complicated then it needs to be? Perhaps for old times sake I should regale you with tales of alligator races. Or some other fictional travels. That's right, Hiccup. The tales told you and your gullible father, I plundered from real merchants before I sunk their ships." He spotted Hiccup and threw two knives at him. They stuck in the clear glass and Hiccup gasped before running. Johann threw two more knives at Hiccup in which he ducked out of the way. Soon after he took out two more knives and threw them and Hiccup dodged them again, grabbed his sword, and threw his sword to cut Toothless out of the net. Hiccup turned to grab his sword when Johann threw a knife, Toothless missed when he shot at it, and the knife sunk into Hiccups upper back. Johann laughed evilly as Hiccup gasped at the sudden pain and fell onto his knees. 

"That's what happens when you cross me, Hiccup. You haven't seen the last of me." Johann said before running to who knows where. Toothless crooned and helped Hiccup onto his back.

"I-i'm okay, Bud. Just let's get back to the Edge." Hiccup told Toothless weakly. 

LINE BREAK---

Toothless landed in front of the clubhouse with an almost unconscious Hiccup on his back. He roared loudly to get someone's attention. The door opened and Fishlegs, Snotlout, The Twins, Dagger, Heather, and Astrid walked out. Astrid looked at her boyfriend to see something off about him. He was really pale, his eyes were half closed, he was taking shaky breaths, and was sweating. She walked over to him and brushed his hair out of his eyes. "Hiccup? What's wrong?" She asked worried. He gestured to his back, she looked, and gasped in horror. 

"Oh my gods!" She shouted. 

"What? What is it?" Fishlegs asked. Astrid had a hard time forming words when Hiccup leaned against Astrid. 

"He has a knife dripping down his back! Fishlegs, you're the only one that knows how to remove it." She said as Heather ran over to her and helped Carry Hiccup to his hut. They laid him face down on his bed as Fishlegs got ready. He handed Astrid a long, thin piece of wood and told her to have Hiccup bite down on it. 

"Alright, Hiccup, this is going to hurt." He first cut the fabric around the knife then put his hands on the hilt. "Ready, one, two, three." Astrid held on to his hand tight and he squeezed tighter when Fishlegs pulled the knife out. HIccup gave a little shout but sighed as the pain decreased into a bearable throb. Astrid ran a hand through his auburn locks to soothe him. Hiccup closed his eyes as Astrid helped him sit up. Fishlegs removed HIccup's shirt, cleaned the stab wound, and stitched it up. He handed Astrid the wrap and motioned for everyone to leave leaving the couple alone.  Astrid started to wrap him up.

"What happened Hiccup?" She asked, concerned.

"Johann."  He rasped out.

"Johann? Johann did this?" She said. She suddenly hated Johann.

"Yeah, he's paying Viggo and Krogen to work for him. He's been on the Dragon Hunter's side since Breakneck Bog." He told her. "C-can we worry about it later?"

"Yeah of course." He laid down on his side and she laid next to him on her side. "I was worried. I came back with Heather and you were just gone and the twins didn't know where you were."

"I'm okay now." He said and pressed his lips to hers. He pulled away. "I promise." 

"Okay. Just tell me if it starts to hurt really bad, okay?" she said. He nodded as his eyes closed and sleep over took him. She grabbed a blanket and pulled it over him, kissed his forehead, and walked out of his hut.
