Set after HTTYD 2

They had one the war against Drago and everyone was reunited with their dragons! Hiccup looked around with a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eyes. He spotted his girlfriend, Astrid Hofferson, running towards him. He braced himself when she threw her arms around him and buried her face in the crook of his neck. Hiccup wrapped his arms around her waist and hugged back. Astrid then pulled away from the romantic embrace a little teary eyes and punched him in the stomach. Hiccup doubled over.

"Dear Odin's Ghost, woman!" He said as he recomposed himself. 

"That's for almost dying on me.. again." She grabbed the strip of leather across his chest and pulled him in for a kiss. Hiccup kissed back after shaking out of the shock of the sudden contact. He placed a hand on her waist as the other one held on to the arm that wasn't now wrapped around his neck.

Gobber, who saw the exchange covered a younger boys eyes that was watching Hiccup and Astrd kiss. He couldn't suppress the smile forming on his face as he watched them kiss. 

The couple pulled away, smiling and staring into each others eyes lovingly. Astrid pecked him before she whispered, "Don't scare me like that again."

"I'll try not to M'lady." Hiccup whispered back. "I love you."

"I know." She said right before Gothi tapped Hiccup's shoulder with her staff. Hiccup turned around and smiled before he knelt on one knee before the healer and got the symbol of the Chief wrote on his forehead.

"The new Chief of Berk!" Gobber shouted gleefully and the place erupted in cheers. Astrid smiled at her boyfriend and clapped before hugging him from behind and placing her head between his shoulder blades. Hiccup turned around and placed a hand on her hip and the other on her cheek, gently stroking it with his thumb. 

"So Chief. What do we do now?" She said with a smile. Hiccup's smile turned into a frown.

"Astrid I'm still your boyfriend so call me, Hiccup." He told her and she kissed his cheek. 

"I know. I was only joking." she said. They were leaning in to kiss when  heavily accented voice broke them apart.

"Son!" Valka said and walked up to the couple. Astrid was nervous to meet her boyfriend's mother. She grabbed Hiccup's hand and he laced their fingers together. As Valka came closer Astrid held on tighter to Hiccup's hand. 

"Hey, Mom." Hiccup said with a smile.

"Who's this beauty." Valka gestured to Astrid, making the younger girl blush.

"Mom, this is Astrid, my girlfriend. Astrid, my Mom, Valka." He introduced. 

"How long have you two been dating?" Valka asked.

"Almost three years." Astrid said. 

"Valka! yer needed!" Came Gobber's voice and said woman waved and walked away. Astrid stood in front of Hiccup.

"Race you to the Cove!" She said and hopped on Stormfly and took to the air. Hiccup hopped on Toothless and raced after her. 

Hiccup landed in the cove and saw Astrid leaning against a boulder, sharpening her ax. Her shoulder pads, boots, arm warmers, and hood were forgotten.  Hiccup snuck up behind the boulder and suddenly placed his hands on her shoulders. She jumped, stood, and held her ax to his throat. Once she realized who it was she lowered her ax and sat back down. "Oh, it's just you." 

"Yeah, it's just me." Hiccup muttered, taking off his armor and boot, leaving him in his green shirt and pants. Astrid stood against the tall boulder as Hiccup stood in front of her, his arms on either side of her head, trapping her. "So what were we gonna do before my mom interrupted us?"

"This..." Astrid crashed her lips to his and Hiccup responded passionately. Astrid hummed into the kiss and wrapped her arms around his neck and his went to her hips. Their lips moved in sync while their dragons played in the background. Hiccup pulled the hair tie loose and Astrid's braid fell out. Hiccup ran his fingers through her golden locks and Astrid ran her hand through his hair. It was getting heated when they heard a, 

"hiccup?" The couple sighed and broke away. Astrid smoothed down her hair and they walked over to Valka. 

"Yeah, Mom?" Hiccup said a little irritated. 

"Yer needed in the village." She said then walked away. Hiccup kissed Astrid's cheek before putting his armor back on and hopping on Toothless.

"Sorry. You coming with?" He asked his girlfriend. Astrid shook her head.

"I'm going to stay here." Then Hiccup flew off.

That was the first time they were interrupted. The second time was,

Hiccup and Astrid sat on a cliff near Berk, talking about random things. Astrid was braiding his hair when Hiccup ranted about the twins and their pranks. 

"And then they put the weapons right under Snotlout when he was falling. Hookfang caught him right before a spear impaled him." Hiccup finished. 

"Didn't they do that same prank before we left for the edge?" Astrid asked after she finished braiding his hair.

"Yup." Hiccup said. "I love you, M'lady." He laid his head back on her chest and he sat in between her legs, his head ad back against her chest and stomach. Astrid wrapped her arms around his shoulders and placed her hands on his chest. Hiccup looked up and pressed his lips to hers for about two seconds when they heard his mom. 

"Hiccup? what are you doing here?" She asked and sat next to the couple. Astrid sighed and laid her head on top of Hiccup's. 

"Hanging out with my girlfriend." he said. 

Let's just say they weren't alone that day again. They were interrupted many times but the worst was when they were on a date and it was Astrid's birthday, though she thinks Hiccup forgot. They were at the cove on a midnight picnic, looking at the stars. Astrid turned her head to look at him. She laid on her side and snuggled up against him before Hiccup pulled her on top of him. He pressed his lips to hers in a passionate kiss. They kissed for a while when a frantic voice called:

"Hiccup? Hiccup?" Valka came running. Astrid sighed, she would cry if they got interrupted and she had to go home. And that's not a very Astrid thing to do but if you and your boyfriend could't have one moment alone together in the five months his mother as been here you would cry too. Hiccup rolled his eyes and Astrid got off of him so he could stand.

"Yes, Mom?" he said very annoyed. Valka sighed in relief.

"Hiccup! What are you doing out this late? You didn't come home and it worried me! Let's go home." She said.

"but-" Hiccup started, wanting to tell his mom that Astrid was here too and that he had to bring her home because the cove was a mile away from berk and that's a long way to walk.

"No buts Hiccup. Get on that dragon now and lets go home." She said and hopped on cloudjumper. 

"Mom-"

"No! You need sleep! There is no reason you should be out this late!" Valka scolded. "Now Toothless, bring Hiccup back right now or no special fish for a month."

"You can't punish my-" Hiccup started but Toothless took to the sky without thinking of Astrid and brought him home with Valka close behind.

Astrid watched the whole exchange and when they left, she knew Hiccup tried to tell Valka so she wasn't mad at him, she knew she may start crying. Astrid picked up the blanket and basket then began walking. She thought back to Hiccup's birthday in which was interrupted, their anniversary that was interrupted, and now her birthday. Astrid let angry tears fall as she walked back to the village and knocked on the Haddock's door.

Hiccup and Valka landed. Valka dragged Hiccup inside and shut the door. "Mom!" He shouted.

"What?" She replied. "You should get to bed. Why were you out there?" Hiccup shook his head.

"Because it was Astrid's birthday. If you would have looked around you would have known she was there. I was her ride and it's a mile walk. She thinks I forgot it was her birthday. Did you know that you interrupted my birthday, our anniversary, and now her birthday. All those dates I was planning on actually officially asking her to marry me. Not to mention all the dates before that." Hiccup said.

"I didn't mean to. I'm sorry. Hiccup, I swear if I had known-" She was interrupted by a knock on the door and Hiccup told his mom to stay there while he answered it. There he saw his girlfriend Astrid with an emotionless face and arms crossed. They stared at each other for a minute before Astrid said,

"I'm going to attack your mother one of these days." She said and Hiccup chuckled.

"Well anyway since you're here.." Hiccup took out the paper and handed it to her as he walked back into the couch. Astrid opened it and it read,

Marry me? 

-Hiccup.

"wait, hold on, Hiccup! Come back here!" She chased him around the house.

They were never interrupted by Valka again.
