So this takes place between HTTYD 2 and HTTYD 3. They look like they are in the third film. 

It was a chilly night on Berk. Terrible Terrors were sleeping on the rooftops and the Chief of Berk was heading over to the Great Hall for a sudden meeting. Hiccup pushed open the doors and took a seat.

"So, what's this about?" He asked, eyes scanning the council. 

"We got a terror mail that we need you to address." Valka, Hiccup's mother, told her son. She passed him the folded letter.

Hiccup opened it and started reading.

Chief Hiccup Haddock,

We were informed that you recently became Chief a few months ago due to the death of Stoick The Vast. Anyway since you have become Chief there is a need for you to find a wife and have a heir to the throne. 

So, just as all Chiefs do, there will be a party with all the Chief's or Chieftess's daughters. You will have to pick one to marry. A young woman suitable for you. That will give a heir to the throne.

We will all arrive on Berk tomorrow around noon and will leave once you have a few women to pick from.

Expect us tomorrow then.

Hiccup looked up from the paper with an eyebrow raised. "They can do that?" 

"Do what? What did it say?" Fishlegs looked at Hiccup with curious eyes. Hiccup read the letter out loud and when he was finished everyone except Gobber was frowning. 

"Well, lad, they can do that. It is required for Chiefs." Gobber picked at his teeth with his hook. "Ye have no choice, Hiccup. Yer mother wasn't from Berk. Yer father had a party and met her." He shrugged and continued to mess with his teeth. 

"We can't like cancel?" Hiccup asked and looked at everyone. The twins looked bored to death, Snotlout had a smirk on his face, Fishlegs just looked shocked, Eret looked confused, Valka had a deep frown, Gobber wasn't paying attention, and Astrid had her eyebrows scrunched up and was in deep thought.

"No, Son. You can't cancel." Valka placed a hand on Hiccup's shoulder. "It's late and there's a party tomorrow. Get some sleep everyone." She walked over to Astrid and whispered something to Astrid that made the young woman nod before Valka walked out of the hall with everyone else.  Hiccup stayed behind and read over the note again.

Astrid walked over to Hiccup and placed her hands on his shoulders before she said, "It will be fine." Though she sounded like she was reassuring herself more than him. Hiccup sighed and set the note on the table. 

"I just don't understand why this needs to happen if I'm not going to pick any of them." He told his betrothed as he stood in front of her. He ran his fingers through her hair and kissed her forehead. He pulled away and grabbed her hand, lacing there fingers together and walking out of the Great Hall.

Astrid laid her head on his shoulder and hummed quietly. "I don't know, Babe." She gave him a quick kiss on the lips. "good night." Then she ran to her hut. Hiccup smiled and made his way to his and his mom's hut. 

"Mom?" He called when he walked into the hut. 

"Living room, Dear." She called back and Hiccup sat next to her on the couch. 

"I'm betrothed." He said and laid his head on her shoulder. 

"Yeah." Valka replied and caress the back of his head soothingly. 

"And I still have to have this party thing." He groaned. "I'm going to bed." He stood and well, went to bed.

Next Day:

Hiccup woke to Toothless nuzzling his face. "Hey Bud!" He sat up and strapped on his prosthetic and got dressed. Hiccup walked out of his house and into the warm air. It was warm and sunny as the terrible terrors sang on the rooftops. He walked through the village.

"Morning Chief!"

"Morning hiccup!"

And "Morning!" could be heard as he walked. he replied to every villager who greeted him until he took his seat in the Great Hall after grabbing some food. He took a bite of his food and Astrid sat down in front of him. 

"Hey." She said with a yawn. Hiccup gave her a quick smile.

"Hey." He noticed her tired look. "How did you sleep?"

"I couldn't sleep. Probably got four hours at most." She replied to her betrothed. He reached his hand across the table and took hers. He lifted her hand up and kissed it and Astrid smiled. "I'm fine though."

"I know." Hiccup said and they continued to eat. 

LINE BREAK---

Hiccup put his fur cape across his shoulders and stood by the docs waiting for their guests to arrive. He looked around and saw the Gang walking towards them, all except the twins whom were not in the council. To his right stood Astrid and to his left stood his mother, then Gobber, Eret, Fishlegs, and Snotlout. 

The first boat arrived and a man stepped out of it holding a woman's hand. They both had dark hair but the woman had green eyes while the man had blue eyes. Behind them, a young woman with brown hair tied in a bun with blue eyes stepped out of the boat. She wore an outfit that sort of resembled one of Astrid's. A light blue top, shoulder pads, arm warmers, boots, a skirt with no spikes, and brown leggings. 

"Chief and Chieftess of the Savage Tribe." The man said. "I am Anderson and my wife Ingrid with our daughter Tia." They shook hands and exchanged names. 

"Chief Hiccup. The party will be held in the Great Hall right over there." He pointed in the direction and the family nodded before making their way over. 

The next boat docked and a young woman stepped out. She had snow white hair in a side braid, blue eyes, and gloves covering her hands. She wore a teal dress and a short cape. "Queen Elsa of Arendelle and my sister who insisted on coming, Princess Anna." Elsa gestured to a woman a little younger with red hair in two braids, blue eyes, and freckles splashed across her nose and cheeks. 

"Hi, i'm just here for the food." Anna said and everyone chuckled. "I have a boyfriend."

"Anna!" Elsa scolded her younger sister and they walked to the Great Hall.

"Interesting girls." Valka muttered under her breath. 

Another boat docked and a family of four stepped out. The woman had light blonde hair, blue eyes, and freckles across her nose. The man had brown hair and green eyes with freckles across his cheeks. The young woman, their daughter, had blonde hair and green eyes with freckles. The little boy, their son, had brown hair and blue eyes. 

"I am Chief Mathias and my wife Tori. Our daughter, Kari and our son Agnes." the man said befoe heading to the Great Hall. 

Another boat pulled up and a family of six came out. One woman with long brown hair in three braids, a buff man with red hair and beard, three little boys with curly red hair, and a young woman with a wild mane of curly red hair. "but dad, I don't want to get married especially-" Her blue eyes looked at Hiccup and she shut her heavily accented mouth then blushed. 

"I am Queen Elinor mt husband, King Fergus, the triplets, and our daughter Princess Merida. After the greetings the family walked to the Great Hall. 

LINE BREAK---

After many more families came and seemed to be the last of them the council and Chief of Berk entered the Great Hall. Hiccup sat in his throne and looked around. The Berk Band was playing music, people danced, people ate, people drank, and people talked. Hiccup found his girlfriend, Astrid, in the hoard of people. She was talking with one of he guests, which happened to be a muscular boy with blonde hair and blue eyes, and laughed at him. Hiccup's heart clenched as he watched her laugh with this boy. His eyes widened as Astrid kissed the ans cheek, grabbed his hand, and pulled him over to Hiccup. Hiccup sat up straighter. 

"Eric this is my boyfriend Hiccup, Hiccup this is my cousin Eric." Astrid said and Hiccup relaxed, smiled, and stuck out his hand in which Eric shook. 

"You're dating the Chief, Astrid?" Eric said and high fived her. "Score!" Hiccup and Astrid laughed.

"My cousin, Anita, is eighteen and was required to come and the family tagged along." Astrid said. "They already knew about us though, so don't worry."

"I'm not worried." hiccup said. Astrid ruffled his hair.

"Sure you aren't, Babe." She said. Eric held up his hands.

"Wait you called him 'Babe'. How long have you two been dating?" he asked.

"Since we were a 'thing' or a couple?" Hiccup asked with a light laugh.

"Uh, both, I guess." He responded. 

"We've been a thing for five years and a couple for almost three years." Hiccup said and Eric nodded. "We're betrothed."

"Okay, because I was gonna say..." Eric laughed.

"Okay we're going to get something to eat." Astrid said. "Want anything?" The question was directed towards Hiccup.

"No thanks, M'lady." He smiled at her as she walked away. 

"Chief Hiccup, you are required to dance!" Someone yelled from the crowd of people. He sighed and stood, limped to the center of the hall, and got ready to dance after he took his cape off. He looked around and saw Elsa and Anna sitting out. "All woman who want the Chief as their husband need to dance.. People who don't want him you can dance too." Again Elsa and Anna sat out. 

The music started and all the men and woman, that want to dance, started dancing. It was the type of dance where you would be passed on to another person of the opposite sex. With that person you'd dace for approximately one or two minutes before you switch off.

Now as Hiccup danced with these young women people noticed he wasn't like the other men. The other men would dance correctly with the woman's hand clasped tightly and a hand firmly on her waist. But Hiccup would hold on to the girls hand loosely and would set his hand lightly not firmly on her waist. Everyone on Berk new why but didn't tell the other people because it was humorous to watch. 

Hiccup got switched to Kari and she smiled. "So, Hiccup, how did you loose your leg?"Hiccup had to resist the urge to laugh. Was she trying to flirt by asking how he lost his leg?

"Oh well, you know, falling into an inferno caused by the queen of dragons burning up from the inside and my dragon saving me by biting into my leg." He said nonchalantly. Kari's eyes widened.

"Oh, well, okay then." She laughed. "So, what's your type? Sweet? Funny? Nice?" Hiccup almost rolled his eyes.

"My type is crazy warrior ladies." He said as he got switched to another person. He was passed on to Merida, the princess with wild red curly hair, she smiled. 

"hey, Hiccup." She said. "You know, I didn't want to get married until I saw you." Hiccup gulped because he was uncomfortable.

"Really?" He asked, his hand loosely holding hers and the one on her waist almost not even touching her. She hummed in response. 

"You should hold on to me tighter, you know." She said and tried to move closer but he back away.

"Why do you say that?" He asked her, desperately hoping for the minute to be over but it seemed to slow down. 

"Because, I may be your wife in the future." She said. 

"Ha ha." He laughed sarcastically.

"You never know." She kissed his cheek and Hiccup blushed from embarrassment and the sudden affection.

Astrid danced with some random Berkian and watched her boyfriend dance with Merida. Her heart clenched when she moved closer to him or held his hand tighter. She said something and Hiccup raised an eye brow and responded. Astrid kept watching then Merida said something, he laughed, and she kissed his cheek. Astrid squeezed her eyes shut and opened them. 

"You okay?" The man she was dancing with asked, noticing her water eyes. Astrid forced a smile.

"yeah, I'm fine." She replied and closed her eyes as she was switched off to another person. She felt the familiar calloused hand clasp her hand in his and set his other firmly on her waist. Astrid opened her eyes and looked up into the emerald green eyes she loved so much. 

Hiccup noticed her eyes a little watery. "What's wrong?" Astrid shook her head. "Talk to me."

"Just uh-" She swallowed. "-You and Merida and she kissed your cheek and you blushed and laughed." Hiccup pressed his lips to her forehead then pulled away. The music changed into a slow song so everyone danced with who they currently got switched with. Hiccup put his hands on her hips and Astrid's arms wrapped around his neck.

"I laughed sarcastically because she said she may become my wife." He chuckled and Astrid let out a laugh. "I only have one girl I want to marry. You." Astrid smiled.

"I know I just worry." She said.

"Don't worry because I love you and only you." he whispered before he placed his lips on to hers in a passionate kiss. They broke away.

"I-" she hesitated because she's never said it before to him. "I love you too."

All the girls except for Anita, Anna, and Elsa watched in jealousy as Hiccup kissed Astrid again. 

"She chose the village girl? Over us?" Almost all of them said. Fishlegs, who was dancing with merida because that's who he got switched to, smiled.

"She may be a village girl but she's Hiccup's human best friend, girlfriend, betrothed, and his general. Whenever he needs help of comforting she's there. He loves Astrid and Only Astrid." Fishlegs told the princess of DunBroch.
