Fear

A month after the episode Blindsided

"It's okay to be scared. Being scared means you've done something really, really, brave."

Stormfly got hit by a dragon root arrow and crash landed on the beach. Astrid stood up from the spot where she had fallen and stroked her dragon's snout. "It's okay, Girl. I'll fix it up." She said but was stopped by a gruff accented voice.

"No, you and your dragon will be coming with me." Viggo said and slowly advanced towards her and the dragon.

"Viggo." Astrid glared and her hands curled into fists. "I knew we shouldn't have trusted you."

"You're smarter than you look so don't make a mistake and come with me." Viggo said.

"No." Astrid said before everything went black. Astrid opened her eyes. She was sitting on Stormfly, her hands tied behind her back, and Viggo sitting behind her. She struggled to get out of his hold.

"It sounds like this nightmare is finally over." She heard her boyfriend, Hiccup. Viggo rode Stormfly over to Hiccup.

"Are you sure about that Hiccup?" He said, holding  her ax to her neck and Hiccup's hands curled into fists.

"Viggo." He said menacingly. "Let me guess, you want the dragon eye in exchange for Astrid?"

"It sounds so much more colder when you say it like that but, yes." Viggo said  Hiccup glared. "While I do appreciate your assistance putting my brother back in his rightful place, I must insist you return it to where it belongs, with me." Viggo moved the ax closer to Astrid's neck and she let out a gasp. Hiccup took the dragon eye out of Toothless' saddle.

Astrid's eyes widened and she said, "Hiccup! Don't even thing about it." Viggo smirked.

"Come now! Are you really going to sacrifice your future? All the wonderful years you have ahead of you, for that?" Viggo asked. Hiccup thought about it and Astrid shook her head at him.

"Wow, Viggo. Well I guess when you put it that way, No I'm not!" Hiccup threw the dragon eye into the volcano and Viggo glared.

"You'll pay for that Hiccup Haddock." He paused. "Nope she will." He took Astrid's ax and, well you know.

Astrid shot up in bed breathing heavily. She wiped at her sweat covered forehead and looked around the room. She sat up and placed her elbows on her knees still breathing heavily. Then a clap of thunder so loud that it could be heard half across the world boomed. Astrid jumped and gave a little shriek. Astrid Hofferson, afraid of a storm and a nightmare? Hard to believe right? But if you were blinded by a storm and killed in your nightmare, you'd be scared too. Astrid slipped on her boots not caring about her armor or skirt or un-braided hair and ran out of her hut to the cool night air. She started to run to Hiccup's hut, jumping at any claps of thunder or lightning strike.  She made it to his hut and didn't bother knocking. It wasn't her first time coming in during a nightmare or a storm.

She opened his door quietly and then shut it just as quietly. She removed her boots and wrung her wet hair out. She then quietly walked up the stairs to the loft where her boyfriend slept peacefully. She climbed in and wrapped her arms around his middle and buried her face in his chest.

Hiccup felt arms slide around his waist, a face bury in his chest, and hair tickled his nose. He opened his eyes to see Astrid holding on to him for dear life. He quickly wrapped his arms around her and she looked up at him.

"Sorry." She murmured and Hiccup brushed her bangs out of the way from covering her eyes.

"No, it's okay. What's up?" He pressed his lips to her forehead.

"Nightmare and the storm." She replied, snuggling closer to him.

"What was the nightmare this time?" He asked, gently stroking her damp hair.

"Viggo kidnapping me. He used my ax and-" She swallowed down tears but a few escaped.

"Shhh. You don't have to talk about it. I'm here and you can sleep peacefully." He said and pressed his lips to hers before pulling away and pulling her body closer to his before he drifted to sleep.

Astrid though could not fall asleep. Every time she'd look around into the darkness she'd see Viggo's dark figure even though she knew it wasn't real. Every time she'd close her eyes she'd see her nightmare or be reminded of being blind. A sudden clap of thunder startled Astrid and she jumped a little then scooted closer to Hiccup. She saw lightning through the window and gave a shriek and sat up.

Hiccup jumped out of bed and ignited Inferno then looked around the room. Then he saw Astrid breathing heavily, head in her hands, jumping at every clap of thunder. Hiccup put away his sword and lit his candle so it lit a little bit of the room. Hiccup sat next to his girlfriend and put his hand on her back. She looked up at him and hugged him tight. "It's going to be light out soon. You want to go to the clubhouse?"

"yeah." She said and her voice cracked. They stood, Hiccup wrapped an arm around her shoulder, and she wrapped hers around his waist and they walked to the clubhouse.

Later that day the Gang was all confused to why Astrid was leaning on Hiccup and sleeping at breakfast.

THE END. sorry if it was short.
