so this is from my personal selection of Story Notebooks.......aka a bunch of notebooks that are filled with fanfiction and other fiction.

This one is from Story notebook # 21 (which I wrote/finished in a week last April)

okay........ one more note - this is based off of a fanfic I was reading at that time on fanfiction.com so all credit to the author, I just used the plot.......a bit

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

One day Hiccup was out exploring a new island that was only about a mile or so from Berk. 

"Boat wreck," Hiccup said out loud, "Let's check it out Bud."

When Hiccup and Toothless landed Hiccup got off. When he was looking over the wreckage, he found a little girl, under a few boards.

"Hey. Are you okay?" Hiccup asked, shaking the little girl.

The girl shot up, wide awake, and cried, "Mama! Papa!"

"Are you okay?" Hiccup asked again.

"I...........I don't know." The girl said, her voiced lisping a bit due to a few lost teeth.

"What's your name?" Hiccup asked, picking the girl up.

"Rey." (Not the star wars character) 

"That's a nice name. My name will make you laugh." 

"What is it?"

"It's funny." 

"I won't laugh." Rey promised.

"My name's Hiccup." 

Rey burst out into a huge smile, but didn't laugh just as she had promised.

"This is my dragon - Toothless." Hiccup told her, as Toothless walked over.

"But dwagons have teeth." Rey said with a giggle.

"Sometimes they don't. See?" 

Toothless then flashed a gummy smile towards Rey. Rey then reached out her hand to touch Toothless, but pulled back a moment later.

"You can touch him. Here." Hiccup said, placing her hand on Toothless' snout.

"Rey, where are your parents?"

Rey looked around before saying, "Heaven."

"How old are you?" Hiccup asked.

Rey thought before putting up 6 fingers.

"Would you like to stay with me til we find someone to take care of you?" Hiccup asked.

"Yes, please." 

As Hiccup mounted Toothless, he realized that Rey's legs were gone from below her knees. 

"Rey."

"Yeah?"

"What happened to your legs?"

"Mama said I became sick and my legs became infected." 

"Oh. I understand."

Then Hiccup, Rey, and Toothless flew to Berk. When he got there he was met by Astrid and Stormfly.

"Astrid, this is Rey. Rey this is Astrid and her dragon Stormfly." 

"Hello." Rey said, shyly.

"Hi Rey." Astrid said, before turning to Hiccup, "Where did you....." 

"Boat wreck on that island." Hiccup told her.

"Ah. You okay Rey?"

"Yes."

"Why don't we take you to the healers to get you checked out?" Astrid asked, taking Rey form Hiccup.

"Okay." Rey said.

So they took Rey to the healers. The healer said that she was a little underweight and she needed some tender loving care.

"She needs a person who'll do that, not a guy who is still figuring out how to do his job." Hiccup said, looking at Rey who was placing a flower crown on Astrid's head.

"You two are the only ones she'll stay with." the healer said.

Earlier, when the healer had tried to take Rey form Astrid, Rey had started to cry.

"Fine." 

"you might also want to get her some peg legs. Unless you want to carry her everywhere." the healer said.

"Okay."

The next day.............

"There you two are. Where were you?" Astrid asked.

"Storm kept us up most of the night, then I wasn't sure how to brush her hair without hurting her. And then I tried to braid her hair." hiccup explained.

"That explains the messy hair." Valka said.

"Looks like I'm your hair dresser Rey." Astrid said, laughing.

Hiccup looked hurt and gave Astrid a pouty face. Causing everyone to laugh harder. 

Then Astrid took Rey from Hiccup. Rey clung to Astrid as they walked around. 

"Miss Astrid?"

"Yeah?"

"Do you like Hiccup?"

Astrid smiled, "I hope I do. I'm his fiancee." 

Rey smiled back as she laid her head on Astrid's shoulder guards.

"Are you tired?" 

Rey just nodded her head and began to yawn.

"Do you take naps?" 

Rey shook her head no. She HATED naps.

"Would you take one if I asked you?"

Rey thought for a minuted before shaking her head no.

"Do you hate naps?" 

Rey instantly nodded her head.

"Ah. We'll keep walking then." Astrid said.

As they kept walking with the gang and Valka, Rey slowly drifted off to sleep. About 3 minutes after Rey fell asleep, hiccup looked over and said, "Someone's asleep."

Astrid looked down to see Rey asleep. Astrid then said smiling, "And she said she didn't talk naps."

"Just like me," Hiccup said, "I refused to take them."

The gang and Valka began to chuckle.

2 months later........

Hiccup was sleeping and suddenly he woke up to hear Rey crying. Slowly he got up and walked to Rey's room.

"Rey? What's wrong?" Hiccup asked.

"N-nothing?" Rey said, holding back sobs.

"Are you having phantom pains?" 

Rey nodded as she began to cry harder. Hiccup went and sat next to her. Slowly Hiccup picked her up and held her in his lap, hugging the little girl. The two soon fell asleep.

The next morning...

When Hiccup didn't meet Astrid at the appointed spot, Astrid went to Hiccup's hut.

"Hiccup? Rey?" she asked.

She first went into Hiccup's room, but finding no one there she went into Rey's room. She opened the door to find Hiccup and Rey asleep on the bed, Rey cradled in Hiccup's arms. Astrid went and kissed Hiccup on the cheek. Slowly Hiccup woke up.

"Morning Babe." Astrid said.

"Morning M'lady. What are you doing here?" Hiccup asked.

"When you didn't meet me I came over." 

"What time is it?" Hiccup asked, yawning.

"10 o'clock." 

Then Rey began to wake up. Astrid kissed her forehead before saying, "Morning sweety."

"Morning Astrid." Rey mumbled, before cuddling closer next to Hiccup.

"You both seem really tired. You may have to take naps later." 

"No. No naps." Hiccup and Rey said in sync. 

Astrid smiled, "Were you up late?" 

Hiccup nodded, "Rey had phantom pains last night."

"Oh. Well, it's time to get up guys." Astrid said.

"NO!" They both exclaimed, hiding under the covers.
