Flippy X Reader

(Y/n) nervously flipped the collar of their shirt over their sweater.
Hoping it looked straight enough to where it looked like you tried your best to look more than half decent.
But it's Flippy. He doesn't care about your appearance, he really cares about you on the inside.
God, that sounds so cheesy.
But really, it's true!
Flippy has never even once commented anything about your appearance when you two started to talk, and this is going to be technically the first date.
So really it's all or nothing.
Your phone pinged indicating it was 6:30.
You quickly turned off your alarm, and grabbed your essentials; Keys, wallet, phone, pepper spray...
You never know.
You felt nervous, it wasn't Like you haven't met the guy before, it's only really a few FaceTime calls and texts that indicated he was real.
He seemed like a very sweet guy.
He liked a lot of things you liked, and with the appreciation of peace and quiet in an otherwise loud universe.
Loud noises were always a sensory thing for you. That's kinda what you guessed why you hated going out so much.
6:35
Flippy had insisted that he'd drive to pick you up at your place, but really you didn't want him knowing where you lived on the first date.
So you suggested to just meet up at the place.
Driving down a usually busy road down to the restaurant, was now an almost deserted one since rush hour had already finished.
Your hands tightened around the steering wheel, and you could feel your left foot start to tap next to the right that was manually between the break and gas.
Maybe meeting up wasn't such a good idea.
Maybe we should just go home.
Your gut was giving you the feeling that wasn't what you wanted to feel on the first date with the man of your dreams.
Instead of butterflies, it was a pit.
A pit of something crawling around and clawing at your stomach lining that warned you to not go on with this.
'What if he's a creep? '
'What if he actually wants to meet up to kill you?'
'What if he's secretly a serial killer and you're his next victim?'
But something in your head made you keep going.
'You're just over reacting'
'What if I'm not?'
As you kept driving, not once did You never turned around or You never stopped the car.
You never once changed course.
6:45 P.M.
The restaurant was fairly packed for it being a Friday night hopefully this goes well.
Your anxiety already at a high level with the atmosphere, you walked up to the host.
Lumpy, on his fourth job this week, smiled.
"Hey, (y/n)!"
"Hey lumpy! How's the job going?" You asked almost weary of how this might be a horrible outcome to a customer or a coworker of his.
"It's great! I have full benefits, great hours and pay! And all I have to do is take reservations!"
Lumpy excitedly cheered.
As you did agree it seemed like a great and safe job for him to work in without incident.
You still reminded himself that this is lumpy...
And somehow he turned every work place into a disaster zone if he were given the right opportunity without even thinking about it.
"Well good luck, I hope this one sticks." You smiled,
"Thank you! Enjoy your night!"
God hopefully Lumpy doesn't do anything to ruin this date.
You looked around the dining room.
Looking for the Green bear.
And what do you know.
He was sitting in a table just in the middle of the room.
He notices you as you did to him.
He excitedly smiled and rose his hand and waved you over.
Forcing a smile, you waved back and walked over.
Flippy quickly moved out of his seat as you came over and pulled your chair out for you.
Already this makes you have a good impression on the guy.
Maybe this isn't going to be as bad as you thought.
"Thank you!"
"Of course!"
You scooted yourself into the table, and settled your things down.
Flippy had also settled back into his seat.
You already felt a bit awkward for judging the guy a bit on just how your gut was feeling.
"So, this is you!" Flippy finally started. Nothing in his tone sounded fake, nor creepy.
It sounded like he was genuinely happy that you yourself was as he had pictured you were in real life.
"And you're you!" You nervously added. You were still weary, but you also had no idea how to complement the bear.
"Wow, you're so much more attractive in person.
I really hope you think the same way, but let's be honest. You're just wow... Breath taking!"
Flippy looked at you, his eyes glimmering.
It didn't seem that he even noticed a single flaw that you would see with yourself.
"Really? Nobody has ever said that before...We'll my mom and dad have said I'm (pretty/handsome) but it means a lot from someone who isn't family... Thank you."
You smiled.
"Well I'm in the same boat, well I don't really keep in contact with my family. But it's all good." Flippy added.
Time skip.
So far into ordering and the date
Things have been well.
Come to find out, Flippy and you have a lot in common!
And not to mention your similar food palettes.
And what's even more crazy is that how you two even have a peanut allergy and a hate for candy corn.
So far things are looking good, and you already feel your awkwardness melt away as the night went on.
Until the champagne arrived.
Lumpy wanted to check on his two favorite love birds, and decided to bring the champagne himself to celebrate.
Setting down the two glasses to each of you, there wasn't a single thought in your head that this could go wrong.
That anxiety had seemed to already gone.
Lumpy held the bottle and pulled out a sharp opener tool from his apron pocket.
He announced something that you didn't quite catch and in seconds popped the cork of the bottle.
It made a loud POP
As it did the cork itself had bounced right onto the table and ricocheted back into Lumpy's eye.
The sudden sound, even if you did know it was going to happen and you had tried to cover your ears, made you jump.
When you noticed it went into Lumpys eye, you jumped out of your seat, and tried to aid lumpy even if you had no idea how to.
Doing this distracted you from the incoming threat from the other side of the table.
Flippy had jumped from the sound of the sudden pop of the cork and almost fell back into his seat.
He felt his body shake and stutter as he tried to keep calm and remind himself it was nothing but the bottle.
He held his head in his hands and squeezed himself into his body. Trying to curl up into a ball and try to keep himself in.
"Please not here. Not here. I'm okay. I'm okay."
He pleaded with himself.
It was only a few moments later you noticed this and
Got out of your seat and went over to Flippy.
Getting down into his level, you didn't know why you even came over if you didn't know what was going on.
"Flippy, are you okay?"
You kept your voice low and calm.
You didn't want to stress him out anymore than he already seemed to be.
"What happened?"
You asked. But received no answer.
Flippy seemed to be on the verge of a mental break down.
And then. It hit you.
The champagne cork.
'Sudden loud noise...'
He must have a similar problem with them as much as you do.
You brought your hands on Flippy's shoulders and slightly shook him.
"It's okay, Flippy. You're safe." You calmly assured.
From somewhere inside Flippy's head while he was having a battle against himself, he had heard you.
Clear as day.
It made him feel stronger against his demons and slowly he came back.
When he did, he looked up and his eyes had adjusted themselves onto you once more.
"Thank you.." he said.
You smiled, and nodded.
"Don't mention it"
Time skip...
Flippy and you walked out into the parking lot after calling an ambulance for Lumpy.
That cork had somehow lodged itself into his brain, so he needed to get help before it were to kill him if it didn't already.
There was silence for a good minute until this time you decided to break the awkwardness.
"So.. you don't like loud noises either?"
"I guess you can say that." Flippy nervously laughed, "I really hope I didn't ruin the date by almost breaking on you." Flippy apologized, genuinely ashamed of what he thought was his fault the date had ended the way it did.
"What makes you think that? It's not your fault. I probably would have been the same way if I didn't know the sound was coming. And besides.. I enjoyed tonight."
"Really? You think so?"
"I know so. And I don't want this to be our last date. Next time maybe we can go somewhere quieter." You added, this lifts Flippy and you notice this as his eyes lit up.
"So I didn't mess up? Wow. That's a first. Well I'm glad you enjoyed tonight. Next date, I promise to be a lot better."
"Alright Flippy, I trust you." You laugh. Obviously Flippy catches the sarcasm and laughs too
And within a few minutes you are back on the road alone.
Wait, was I not wearing deodorant this whole time????
