CHAPTER 26
The sun was about to set when they all reached Varnavart. The mansion which was made special for them, was built outside the town.
As Anaahat got down holding the hand of Arjun, Purochan along with his wife Purandhari came towards them all.
"Fortunate we are that Rajmata and Rajkumari have come blessed this humble bhavan." Purochan said.
"The mansion is an architectural marvel purochan, never have I seen any building so beautiful." Kunti said.
"But why is there no lamps or torches ? The sun has already set." Yudhishthir pointed out.
At that Purochan and Purandhari looked at each other nervously.
"Y-Yuvraj, there are several mirrors inside the palace. When the moonlight falls on one, then it's reflection falls on the rest as well, illuminating the entire palace." Purandhari said.
"That's innovative." Yudhishthir praised.
"But we need to light an earthen lamp in the entrance for auspiciousness." Kunti said.
"S-sure Rajmata, you all go inside I shall bring a lamp." Purochan said.
"Come everyone, grace this bhavan." Purandhari said.
Kunti walked ahead into the palace as Anaahat and Pandavas followed behind her. They all in awe seeing the beauty of the mansion.
As they entered the main hall, Purochan came behind with a plate in hands on which were two lamps, the small one was lit and the big one was supposed to be lit for auspiciousness.
"Anaahat dear, since you are the Kuru-kulvadhu you must light the lamp of auspiciousness." Kunti instructed.
"As you say Mata." Anaahat nodded.
As walked towards Purochan and took the small lamp and through it lit the bigger diya. The Pandavas and Kunti joined their hands and bowed their head.
As Anaahat was about to pick up the big lamp, Purochan took a step back and everyone frowned looking at him.
"Rajkumari, why will you carry this weight in your delicate hands ? I shall keep the diya in its right place." Purochan said.
"Purochan ji, it's my duty and I shall do it. Don't worry." Anaahat said taking the bigger diya.
She walked up to the first pillar where a small platform was made to store lamps, Anaahat placed the diya right there as Purochan and Purandhari nervously looked at it.
"Purochan, make sure no one removes this lamp from its place and neither it is extinguished." Kunti said.
"Certainly Rajmata." Purochan nodded.
"Purochan, I have a question in mind." Sehdev said.
"Yes Rajkumar." Purochan nodded.
"Is the entire palace lit only through moonlight ?" Sehdev asked.
"Yes Rajkumar. It's so bright that you need no lamps or torches, especially on purnima." Purochan said.
"Then what about Amaavas ?" Sehdev asked.
"You don't have to worry about that Rajkumar." Purochan said worriedly.
"That's a valid question. Even I am now curious." Arjun said.
"Rajkumar, on the day of Amavas we will light the torch. You all will come to know." Purochan said.
