CHAPTER 11: The Beast Of The Night (I)
Later that day, Ella shifted to her wolf and went to search for Demon Wolf. Apparently, she found him, sneaked quietly into a warehouse, and from there, she saw that he had taken over Eric's body after she forgot to take him with her during the fight.
"Don't worry, boss, I'm going to get that demon out of you," she thought.
She also shifted back to her human form, but halfly and howled.
"ARH-WOOOOOO!"
She stepped back and hid in the shadows, waiting for the Demon Wolf to appear.
Demon Wolf did hear the howl and went to where it was located. He broke the doors of the warehouse, seeing Howling Wolf out of the shadows, growling.
"So, you lured me to this place so you could finish me off. What a warrior!"
"Yeah, and enough talk! It's time to get your butt kicked!"
Howling Wolf moved back, balancing her weight on her left foot, and threw her right fist out in a curved punch at his temple.
She pulled him to her feet, almost tearing his neck with her claws. He heard the slight rasp of skin ripping. That is when she really realized she had stumbled into the clearing to find herself face-to-face with Demon Wolf.
Turning ninety degrees to the side, he brought his right forearm up to counter the blow, formed a fist with his left, and threw it at her outstretched jaw. She was in trouble. The Demon Wolf immediately strikes the side of Howling Wolf's neck with all his fingers held straight and tightly together.
She responds by using the heel of her palm to strike up under the Demon Wolf's nose. His nasal bones crack as he collapses to the ground, causing him to cry out in pain.
Howling Wolf stands over him, saying, "Ha! How do you like that now, Demon Wolf?"
"Aargh! You fight like the moon herself—unyielding and relentless. But remember this: darkness has its own hunger. Your blows may crack my bones, but my resolve remains unbroken. I can't wait to crush you to death when I get my hands on you!" yelled Demon Wolf as he brought her down, using his leg against her knee, and he got up.
He breathed out flames of fire, but she swiftly threw herself to the other side of the warehouse and landed on a pile of boxes.
In the meantime, at Ella's house, Mr. Joe was watching the headlines on his television.
"We just confirmed the city's mayor's orders that every citizen should evacuate their homes immediately. They're now sending on the military and the DSI (Dienst Speciale Interventies) to handle this situation right away."
"That's it; we can't stay any longer. It's getting dangerous out there. Where is Ella's boss of hers? He said he was going to take us to his bunker," said Mr. Joe.
"I bet he doesn't even have one daddy, or perhaps he has been possessed by those ghosts, I guess," replied Victoria.
"Well, Vicki, pack your bags. We are leaving now. And get your sister downstairs," ordered Mr. Joe as he stood up from his favorite armchair.
Victoria went upstairs while their doorbell rang.
"Hold on, please; I'm coming!"
After opening the door, Mr. Joe saw that it was Ella's friends Kate and Christopher. He was surprised to see them and wondered if their parents would allow them to run off in the middle of the crisis. Upon seeing them, they looked so sweaty after all their running.
"Sorry to step in—woah! Let me catch my breath. May we please come inside, Mr. Johnson?" asked Kate, and both she and Christopher were allowed inside the house.
"Was Ella expecting both of you?" asked Mr. Joe, rubbing his hands.
"When you put it that way, sir, yeah. Actually, we just wanted to check if our friend was okay, even you and Victoria too," replied Christopher.
"Well, that's very nice of you two, but what about your parents? Did they...?" continued Mr. Joe.
"Uh daddy? We have a problem!" shouted Victoria from upstairs.
"What is it, sweetie? It better be a good one."
"It's Ella; she won't respond and come out of her room."
"For the love of... You kids wait here. I will be right back," said Mr. Joe, and he went upstairs. "Ella, this is your father speaking! Are you there? Answer me. Ella! Ella?! Why isn't she answering?"
"Maybe she is not in her room."
"Come on, sweetie, where else could she be?"
From that moment on, he noticed the door was locked from inside. He brought out a spare key from his pocket and opened it. Surprisingly, Ella wasn't in her room at all. He saw that her window was wide open.
"Strange, where could she have run off to?" asked Victoria. "Not again."
"Oh, she is so grounded," muttered Mr. Joe.
Back to the battle between Howling Wolf and Demon Wolf:
"You weak child, come out and face me like the true warrior you think you are!"
Demon Wolf came closer to the pile of boxes that Howling Wolf fell into. Before he could check whether she was down or not, she used her Alpha roar to get those boxes off her as she got up quickly.
In a flash, Howling Wolf headbutted him full in the face. She came off the back foot with a thrust up the legs, whipped her head forward, and smashed it into his nose. It was beautifully done. It must have caved his whole face in. That's when, to finish the process, she kicked him to the ground, causing him to slide outside of the warehouse.
And that is when the military and the DSI team arrived at the scene. Weapons were loaded and ready to fire from different angles. When Demon Wolf stood up, they were frightened.
"What the heck is that thing?" asked one of the soldiers.
"Whatever it is, we have to take it down! Fire!!" ordered the commander.
And all of them fired at Demon Wolf, but he didn't even have a single scratch on him.
"Your weapons are useless against me, for I am Acacius, I am invincible, I am superior, I am immortal, and I will soon be your new leader! What other thing can you mortals do to stop me?"
"Sir, it doesn't seem to be going down! What are your orders, sir?!" asked a soldier.
"We cannot give up, at least not yet. Call in air support!" replied the commander.
"Yes, sir!" The soldier brought out his radio and spoke onto it, "We need air support; I repeat, we need air support, over!"
Helicopters and jets came and started shooting missiles at Demon Wolf, but their best efforts did not avail. Evil spirits and monsters came, and the Demon Wolf ordered them to attack the soldiers, but not if Howling Wolf has something to say about it.
Her face was scrunched up in anger. She slowly drew her long sword from her belt, and the blade made a hissing whisper as it was removed from the sheath.
"Don't hold back, or I am going to break you," Howling Wolf snarled at Demon Wolf.
She saw the monsters heading towards the DSI team, and she remembered that they were still people possessed by the evil spirits.
"I have to stop the DSI team before they end up killing those innocent people, but how?" she thought.
"Hey, I have an idea," said her inner wolf.
"You do? Tell me fast!"
"With the strength and speed of a wolf, use them to seize all their weapons, both the small ones and the big ones too. Good luck!"
"Actually, you're right. Ok, here goes nothing!"
Howling Wolf went to the soldiers and took all their weapons. She disabled them by crushing them, and she didn't forget about the helicopters. She had to stop them too. From her inner wolf's advice, she uses her Alpha roar as the sonic waves hit the helicopters in the sky and they were down! Luckily, the soldiers abandoned them, and they were safe and sound.
"Sorry guys, but I can't let you hurt these people. I hope you will understand," said Howling Wolf, and she went after the Demon Wolf.
"Oh dear, everyone, retreat!" ordered the commander as he saw the monsters getting closer to them, ready to charge, and the soldiers and the DSI didn't have weapons anymore.
