the tips i give on here...they're just stuff ive picked up on. technical stuff.

you may notice ive never actually sat you, my hypothetical reader, down and actually taught them how to produce prose. why?

because it's impossible.

i cant teach you to write awesome. i can only offer you story building advice.

you dont just start out writing like a god. you have to start out sucking like the rest of us.

a lot of people ive seen are like "ive never written but im sure my first book is gonna be awesome!!" and then suddenly get disappointed when their writing is lackluster and decide to quit? that's not how that works?

or when people continuously complain about their writing, but never actually practice it.

you will suck. its inevitably. but we all start out sucking. im sure the first time babe ruth picked up a bat he wasnt the best baseball player ever.

if i had looked at my writing and been like "oh, this sucks. maybe im not cut out for this" my writing career would have ended at like six or seven and died with the main character of my surprisingly tragic book about a cat in a animal shelter fire.

maybe i would have let my writing go a little further. but what if, when i was like thirteen or whatever, i had been like "well, no one reads my wattpad books, so it's not even worth writing"

"but fancy aghuuu," you sob, "i don't liiiiike my writing" newsflash: i dont either. no one does.

ive written chapters i hate with a fiery passion. but i post them anyway because im on a deadline and i need to progress my story. in fact, every other week i get in a rut and every chapter i make is "the most horrible trash ive ever produced"

youve got to practice. you've got to write to be better at writing. thats the best tip i can give you. when you write every other day, you pick up little methods and stuff you want to use later. for example, my similes and metaphors are better. i cannot explain how to write a simile or a metaphor, but i can write one. its in my head. its instinct.

your narrative skills will increase gradually with each chapter you write. its been a year since I started writing nfh arc one, and now im rewriting it. i can tell the massive increase in writing quality. im low key ashamed i even posted the first one aha

yeah but really. the biggest writing tip i can give you is to,,,write. as much as you can.
