I love magical weapons because they defy the laws of physics and reality itself and that's all I need in life. So, let's go!

The Beginning: First off, give it a Goog and see if you can find a magical weapon that already exists. Whether it's from folklore or from a fandom, you can search through and see if there's a weapon fitting what you want. If it's already in the fandom, go ahead and use it. Adjust what you need to in terms of powers and such, and there you go. If it isn't already part of the fandom, then you can use the general idea and change anything you need.

Starting from Scratch?

Naming: There are a few ways you can go about this. You can 1) Draw inspiration from something else 2) Google a name generator 3) Key smash, and see if you can find a cool name within the madness (this one if my favorite)

What Weapon: Do research on weapons. For example, swords: the different kinds, what kind of damage they do, how you wield them, where they originate from, so on. This way, you know more about the base weapon itself and how your character can handle them.

The Origin: Where does the weapon come from? What it normal at one point then blessed by a deity? Was it popped into existence by a god? Did someone pour their life force into a favorite weapon to protect their people? Figure out where it came from.

The Magic: Similar to The Origin. But, where does it get it's magic? What can the magic do? Are their limitations, boundaries? Does the weapon have its own personality? So on, so forth.

Don't feel pressured to have everything figure out either. You can sort of figure it out as you go on, write the story bit by bit and put in the powers as your characters need them.
