This is something I can't stress enough because I see it so, so much.

A fanfiction is putting in a character that already has a set out personality, name, and looks. For example, the character from my original story. Lilith Bell. She's married to her work, blonde, and has nordic features.

A x reader is a story where you can put your own name and look inside. My account has mainly X Readers in it. They tend to have something like (Y/n) or (Name) so you can put your name in and (H/c) or (Hair color) for hair color and other features.

I can not tell you how many times I was super excited to read a X Reader only to find this.

(Original Example)

Your name is Bell Dawson. You have black hair and blue eyes. I call this a X Reader even though you can't put any of your looks or your own name in it!

See? I always feel like it's false advertising and it kind of is. Know the difference. I'm sure it's a good story it's just marked wrong. Call it a Fanfiction. Not a X Reader
