Balance

When I say balance you're probably thinking of tons of different things. Here, I mean balance between fluff and drama because it can get hard to write the two of them.
In my experience, I take it by chapter. Dedicate chapters to the drama, such as facing the main villain/problem of the story, having a temporary solution, and then the next chapter being the MCs celebrating their small victory.
Don't try to shove tons of fluff and tons of drama into one chapter. Play it by ear. Don't be afraid to take your time. The worst thing you can do is rush a story when you have the time and need to spread it out and improve on it.
For fluff, think about the time and situation. If something really sad just happened, it'll be sad, mourning fluff. If they're excited they'll both be giggly and loud. But don't make your two character cuddle in the middle of the final fight, because... why?
Also think about the right time to put in drama. Drama after drama after drama in a setting other than supheroes isn't going to work out very well, because by the third braty antagonist, you're readers are going to click off. Because they're bored! Drama without dramatic action is boring! Sounds confusing, but it should be. Just creating drama isn't entertaining. Make them do something about it, something big.
All in all, think about your fluff and drama in terms of paragraphs. If you find yourself putting in tons of fluff, introduce a new problem. Tons of drama? Let the main characters have a date night and relax together.
Request are open and so is asking questions!
