Or gave some CPR to a dead account you made years ago with a cringey username like '@Ilovedogs.'

Whatever your case, this site probably looks very bustling and orange to you at this particular moment. And, you're wondering where the hell to start...

STEP 1: PICK A HALF-DECENT USERNAME.

As I previously demonstrated, the username 'Ilovedogs' is not very appealing to others. Pick something that is true to yourself and quite unique - okay, my username is a crappy example and I wish I could change it, but people may unfollow you if you keep changing your username. So, make sure it's a keeper.

STEP 2: MAKE YOURSELF A BIO.

I am the self-crowned queen of bios, not to brag or anything ;). But, it's an art a lot of people can't master.

I've read so many tedious bios on this site. And guess what? I don't usually follow the account after reading them.

Users don't care about your aunt's dead donkey or how long your toes are.

No, they want a brief snippet of your likes and dislikes within about 200 words. I like to keep my bios less than 500 words as ain't nobody got time for that. Make sure your grammar is on point and these are usually a good place to mention your works.

I'll now give you an example of a good bio and a bad bio to show you the stark reality.

BIO 1:

It actually pained me to write that.

There's an obvious difference here and I would definitely be more likely to follow the second user.

I'm not saying don't be yourself or pretend to be a pretentious VSCO girl diva, but do try and be a little aesthetic as people are then more likely to follow you.

STEP 3: LET'S GET YOU AN AESTHETIC.

If someone clicks onto your profile, the first thing they see is your profile picture. Some people use their actual faces as their profile pictures - but some (like me) don't really wanna do that.

Instead, I like following a set aesthetic. For example, a blue aesthetic or a dark aesthetic or a grunge aesthetic.

If you haven't already, DOWNLOAD PINTEREST. It's so helpful for stuff like this and i can spend hours on end just browsing through it!

Unfortunately, I'm not a huge help in this forte, but if you're struggling there are many 'theme shops' across Wattpad, where they can get you an aesthetic theme!

STEP 4: YESSSS! MISSION WELCOME TO WATTPAD IS A GO!

We've almost completed this first chapter! Honestly, if you have these three things, you can't go wrong on Wattpad!
