Secret - Viggo Grimborn x Reader
A/N: SURPRISE! I'm officially adding Viggo to the mix, and he is up for some one shots. Hiccup's older sister and Viggo have been secretly writing to each other. I don't own HTTYD or RTTE.
/////////////////////////////////////
Y/N POV
I smiled as I read yet another letter in my hut on Dragon's Edge. I've secretly been corresponding with Viggo Grimborn for a while now. Hiccup doesn't know, and neither do our friends, except for Astrid. She actually was accepting of us, which relieved me. The last thing I need is for Hiccup or someone else to lecture me about my love life. I don't think anyone can understand the feelings I have for Viggo...well maybe Fishlegs.
I heard my hut door open, and I quickly hid the letter from the person who entered. I panicked a little when I saw it was my little brother. "Hiccup, don't you know how to knock? I could've been naked." I scolded slightly. He chuckled awkwardly. "Sorry, Y/N. I—do you have mail?" He asked, pointing to the piece of paper still in my hand. Crap. "It's none of your business," I said. "C'mon, sis. You can tell me anything." He said and I still wouldn't give in. He was thinking, and soon realization dawned on him. "Y/N...do you have a pen pal? Like Heather and Fishlegs?"
I blushed a little bit. "You do!" He said. I suck at lying...to Hiccup...sometimes. "You've got to tell me who it is," he said excitedly. "Hiccup, it's private. Please." I said. Just then, the others piled in one by one. "What's this I hear?" Snotlout asked. "Nothing! Nothing; Hiccup was just leaving." I said trying to get them to leave. "Y/N has a pen pal, and I'm curious to know who he is." Hiccup said. Astrid sighed. "Come on guys. Leave the poor girl alone," she said. Thank the gods I have her as a friend. "Astrid, it can't be that bad." Hiccup said, to which I almost scoffed. Yeah, it can't be that bad that your big sister is in love with the guy that tried to murder you.
I tried to avoid everyone, but I felt Hiccup take the letter from me, and I felt my heart racing. "Hiccup, please. I'm begging you. Don't read it." I said. "No way. We got to read Fishlegs' mail," Snotlout said. "It was more or less you forcing him to let you read it." I snapped. Hiccup was reading to himself when I saw his eyes pop out of his head. "Your beloved, Viggo Grimborn?!" He said out loud. I blanched. I felt nauseous and queasy. Hiccup looked at me with hurt, anger and betrayal in his eyes. "How could you? You've been writing to Viggo?" He asked, tears in his green eyes. I felt my own tear up. "I wanted to tell you. But I was scared of how you'd react," I explained.
The look on my brother's face reminded me of the same one Dad always wore. A disapproving scowl. "How could you betray us like this? Betray me?" He broke down. I got really irritated now. "You don't choose who you fall in love with, Hiccup! I love him and he loves me!" I said loudly. "He's probably using you to get to us and hurt us," Hiccup said. "He's changed; I've seen it." I stated. I may have said too much. "You've seen it, Y/N? YOU'VE SEEN VIGGO IN PERSON?!" He yelled. "DON'T YOU DARE TALK TO ME ABOUT MY LOVE LIFE, HICCUP!" I screeched. "WELL IF YOU LOVE HIM SO MUCH, GO BE WITH HIM!" Hiccup shouted. My heart broke. "Fine. I can see when I'm not wanted or trusted. Goodbye, Hiccup. Forever," I mumbled as I rudely brushed by him, and went to the stables for my Monstrous Nightmare, Firefly. "Let's go to our spot, boy." I said and shot my brother one last glare before we took off, tears rolling down my cheeks.
Hiccup POV
As soon as those words left my mouth, I immediately regretted what I said. Y/N was right; I have no right to talk to her about her love life. Now I feel like a fool. She gave me one last glare as she took off on Firefly, leaving me to watch in agony. I drove my own sister away. I let the tears roll down my face, not even bothering to face my friends. "Hiccup..." Astrid said in a comforting voice. "Oh gods, Astrid. What've I done?" I choked out. She pulled me into a hug, to which I hugged back. "Hiccup...you know her. She just needs some time to cool off is all. When she comes back, then you two can talk. But not now. She needs her cooling off time," she explained. I nodded. She needed her space.

It was dinner time, and she still hadn't come back. But I kept assuring myself that she was taking some time to calm down. I felt so guilty that I could barely eat. I hope Y/N is okay.
Y/N POV
Firefly flew me to a cave on the far side of the island. It was where I went to think. I heard commotion, putting a hand on my sword in case I needed it. "Who's there?" I asked. I heard a shriek of a dragon, and I knew instantly it was a Skrill. I relaxed, looking over at Firefly (and yes, I have a torch). "It's okay, boy. It's just Viggo." I said. "You called?" Came his voice. "Well it's not hard to know it's you based on the scream of that Skrill," I said. He smiled and brought me in for a hug, wary of my torch.
After our hug, we sat down, and I told him what happened between me and Hiccup. To my surprise, he wasn't mad. "I think he said those things out of shock. But he's your family, love. He'll come round." He explained. I nodded. "I've never seen him look so angry or betrayed like that. Ever." I mumbled. Usually, Hiccup and I are very forgiving people. I eventually grew tired, and felt Viggo wrap his arms around me, pulling me to his chest. A small smile made its way onto my face as I fell into a dreamless sleep.
I woke up to find Viggo nowhere in sight. "Viggo?" I called. Weird. I went outside to look for him, and found him surrounded by Changewings. I forgot that they were migrating. He looked to me, a fearful look in his eyes. These Changewings were very wild and unpredictable: anything could set them off. I went to go to Firefly, but I felt myself pressed up against a Changewing. Oh gods, I'm so dead. I found myself next to Viggo, holding his hand. If we were gonna die, we'd die together.
I looked over at Firefly, and mouthed distress signal, to have the others looking for us. I could only hope and pray the others would find us before we are either eaten or we fall off this cliff.
Astrid POV
There was still no sign of Y/N this morning, and Hiccup is worried sick. I was doing my morning patrol, when I saw a distress signal. Firefly. I'd recognize that signal from anywhere. "C'mon, Stormfly. We've gotta check it out," I encouraged. We rode towards it, and I went pale at the sight. There were Y/N and Viggo, being encircled by wild Changewings. We left immediately and went to Hiccup.
"Hiccup!" I pounded on his door. He came out looking so glum. "What is it, Astrid?" He asked emotionlessly. "I was doing my patrol and saw a distress signal on the other side of the island. It was Firefly's signal, Hiccup. Y/N and Viggo are trapped by a group of untamable Changewings. Either they'll be eaten or fall to their deaths," I said urgently. As I spoke, his eyes widened. "Let's go then." He said. I hopped on Stormfly as Hiccup mounted Toothless. We rode as fast as we could, hoping to get to them in time.
As the cliff came into view, I spotted the Changewings. They were getting closer and closer, and it looked like Y/N was going to lose her footing. "Hiccup!" I alerted. "I see, Astrid. Toothless, plasma blast." He said. "Stormfly, spine shot!" I said. Both dragons attacked the Changewings, and we circled around them, targeting each one. Successfully, we drew them away and they flew off. As soon as we landed, we thought all was well.
Y/N POV
I watched with happy eyes as Astrid and Hiccup took turns shooting at the Changewings. They finally flew off, and I let out a breath I didn't realize I'd been holding. They landed, and just when we thought everything was okay, I felt the ground begin to crumble underneath Viggo and I. Just then, a piece of the cliff broke off, and I fell, screaming at the top of my lungs. I was barely hanging on by Viggo's hand, and he was holding onto the cliff. "Are you alright, Y/N?" He asked. "I'm fine." I answered.
He was holding onto my hand as tightly as he could. But I could feel myself starting to slip. "I'm not letting go. Just hold on." He urged. I nodded. I was trying as hard as I could, but I guess I just wasn't strong enough because my grip was slipping. "Just hold on a second more, darling. I'm not letting you go," Viggo promised. I was still slipping and before I could say something, I was out of his grip. "NO!" He shouted as I began to fall. But I never hit the ground.
I looked up to see Hiccup holding me close. I looked over to see Astrid, who had Viggo sitting behind her. We landed, and I hugged Firefly close. "I'm okay, bud." I promised. He crooned happily, making me smile. I was attacked by Astrid, laughing. "Thank you, Astrid." I said. "What're friends for?" She said. Next was Hiccup, and I looked down, biting my lip. "Y/N...I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said those things. It was wrong of me to not trust your judgment and your character. I'm sorry. Can you ever forgive me?" He asked, and I looked up to see tears falling down his cheeks. "Of course I forgive you." I said and he hugged me close, crying into my shoulder. "I thought I'd lost you. Don't ever scare me like that again." He scolded. "No promises. But thank you. You saved my life." I said. He smiled. "Anything for you, sis."
I looked over to Viggo, who was as relieved as I was. I broke away from Hiccup, and walked into his embrace, resting my chin on his shoulder. "I thought I would never see you again." He said softly. I looked up at him, cupping his face in my hands. "You will never lose me. Even when we're apart, I'm always with you. I love you, Viggo Grimborn. I love you with everything I have," I said. He smiled and kissed my head. "And I love you, Y/N Haddock, with everything I have." He said.
I heard a sniffle and looked to see Hiccup was in tears. "You two are so happy together. I'm so happy for you, Y/N. Viggo...you're more than welcome to stay with us if you'd like. You've shown more than enough that we can trust you." Hiccup said. Viggo nodded graciously and smiled. "Thank you, Hiccup." He said. "No. Thank you for making my sister happy." My brother said. I smiled in content.
Viggo and I didn't have to hide anymore. And I meant what I said. I love him with everything I have. That will never change.
