"You have to be kidding me, right?"

The words flew from your mouth as soon as you heard what Dagur said. "I'm not kidding, Y/N; I want you to be my betrothed." He said. You couldn't help but look at him like he was insane. He was definitely insane! "No. Absolutely not." You said pointedly. Dagur looked a little crestfallen. "Y/N, I—" "Save it, Dagur! I don't want to be your betrothed. I'm glad you've turned a new leaf and all, but do you really expect me to just accept your betrothal? After everything you've done to us? To Heather?" You said sharply. Dagur searched for his words, but none came to mind. "You really are deranged, Dagur. I decline your betrothal," you said and walked off angrily, leaving everyone in the clubhouse shocked.

Heather placed a gentle hand on her brother's shoulder. "Dagur...I'm so sorry," she said softly. "I just—my heart's broken, sis. Y/N's held it for all these years, and she crushed it in two minutes. I'm going to go think," he said and took Sleuther with him, flying off to another part of the island. Of course you wouldn't accept his betrothal. You were Y/N Hofferson. Why would you want the man that's tried to kill you all on multiple occasions? He felt so stupid for even asking you. His heart was shattered completely.

Meanwhile, Astrid went to go and find you. Your usual thinking spot was the landing deck at the stables. "Hey. You want some company?" She asked. You nodded, and your little sister sat beside you. "He's crazy if he thinks I'm going to marry him, or be in a relationship with him. Astrid, I know he's changed; I can see that. But I just can't forget about what he's done and who he's hurt. I just can't." You explained. "I'm sorry, Y/N. Really, I am." She said softly.

"I'm sorry, too." Came Heather's voice. You turned around to see her looking guilty. "Heather, you don't have to apologize. It isn't your fault." You said. "But it is. When Dagur showed me the betrothal gift he got for you, I was just bursting at the seam with happiness. I always wondered why he flirted with you, and when he told me he was in love with you, I understood. Love makes people do crazy things. I wanted my brother to be truly happy, and I encouraged him to ask you. And now it's my fault that he's heartbroken." She explained. A pang of hurt washed over you. "He's in love with me?" You asked. Both girls nodded. "He always was. We all knew it. But he didn't want you to know, because he was scared of how you'd react," Astrid explained.

You felt tears fill your eyes. "I was so stupid. I was hanging onto the past Dagur, and I never took time to process who he is now. Gods I'm so stupid. I have to go." You said and hopped onto (d/n), your Rumblehorn. "And where are you going?" Questioned Heather. "I'm going to find Dagur. I have to apologize. I can't stand the feeling of knowing I broke his heart. I...I love him." You admitted. It made your heart nearly jump out of your chest. You loved Dagur. You flew off on (d/n), trying desperately to find the Berserker Chief.

"Come on, boy. We have to find him," you urged. (D/n) snorted in agreement, and using his expert tracking senses, was able to lead you to where the man was. You hopped off quietly, and began walking over to him. "Don't even try to cheer me up, sis. Y/N doesn't love me. I don't blame her; I just have to accept that I can't be with the woman I so desperately love," Dagur explained, your heart breaking even more.

"What if she actually loves you back?" You asked, making him jump. He turned to look at you, and he looked away. "No you don't. You're just saying that." Dagur argued. You sat next to him. "You're wrong, Dagur. And I'm sorry about the way I reacted. When you asked me, I didn't see the man you are today. I saw the kid who wanted nothing more than to hunt dragons and kill Hiccup. And I love you, Dagur. Really, I do. I'm not just saying it." You explained. A tear rolled down your cheek, watching Dagur for a reaction.

"I get that you got mad. And I don't expect you to just forget about what happened. But I just thought you'd see I learned from those mistakes, and I could try and amount to be the man you want. Y/N I've always loved you. That's why I could never fight you or hurt you. My feelings for you wouldn't let me. And I'm sorry for all the pain I've made you endure." He apologized. You just smiled and pecked his cheek, making him brighten up. "I forgive you, Dagur. As long as you'll forgive me for being stupid and insensitive." You said. "Of course I'll forgive you, Y/N," Dagur said, hugging you close.

You loved the feeling of his hug. It was comforting, warm. "Ask me again." You said very softly. "W-What?" He asked, a little confused. You giggled, placing your smaller hand on top of his. "Ask me again," you encouraged. He smiled as he took your hand, and presented you with a beautiful sword. "Y/N Hofferson, will you accept my betrothal gift?" He asked. You smiled. "I will accept, Dagur. I'd love to be your betrothed." You said, making him smile. He picked you up and spun you around, which caused you to giggle. When he set you down, he looked at you lovingly, and placed his lips onto yours.

The scruff of his beard was lightly ghosting your face, but you didn't mind. Your first kiss. You were betrothed. When he pulled back, you smiled widely, making him smile more as he pulled you closer, both of you admiring the now setting sun.

You were now betrothed to one Dagur the Deranged, Chief of the Berserker tribe. Best. Day. Ever.
