Chapter Three

Chapter Three

I ran as fast as I could to the docks. Hicc was heading back to Berk today, and I was running late to bid him farewell. He was the first friend I've ever had, the only one who actually cared for me through all the pain I suffer through. I could see the docks now. It was just at the base of the hill I was standing on. I could still make it. But as I started running down the hill, the ship with Hicc on it started to slowly depart. I screamed out Hicc's name, hoping he would hear me. I was now on the dock, but the ship was already far away from me. As I slowly sunk to the floor, I heard a faint shout from the ship. My eyes widened as I realized it was Hicc shouting. I smiled, tears trickling down my cheeks, as he shouted his promise to me. "I promise I will come back and we'll meet again someday!"

I watched as Astrid ran away back to the forest. I knew why she did, and I didn't want her to feel that way. She was my third friend I've made in my entire life time. After that incident, I didn't want to lose another friend.

As I watched, Hiccup started running after her, ignoring his dad's order to stay. I wanted Hiccup and Astrid to be together. They look so cute together, and they were a perfect pair! If only I wasn't betrothed to Hiccup. Then this wouldn't have happened.

After Hiccup disappeared into the forest, Chief Stoick sighed and walked away. My parents began to reach for my hands, but I backed out and ran the other way. I didn't know where I was going, but I knew the farther away I was from the village the better. I didn't want to hurt Astrid more by staying there.

After running for who knows how many minutes, I stopped at the docks. A few feet away from me, my parents ship was docked there. I stepped towards it and ventured inside, heading for my bunker.

I wandered around the ship, but I couldn't find my bunker. Sighing, I just went into the bunker closest to me. When I stepped inside, I recognized that it was my parents. I didn't care anymore, and I collapsed onto the bed. Just then, something popped out from under the mattress.

I got off the bed and bent down to pick it up. It was a book, no, it was an album. On the front cover, the word memories was written there. I opened it up to the first page, only to find the words 'the loving memories of Astrid'. My heart pounded rapidly. I knew what was coming next. I held my breath as I turned to the next page.

My eyes widened at the sight. It was just as I thought. On the second page, was photos of Astrid when she was young. I flipped more and more pages until I reached the end of the photos. Now I knew why Astrid and I had the same last names. It's because we are sisters.

As I closed the album, it slipped from my fingers and slid somewhere. But I didn't care. I couldn't wait to tell her we're sisters! Since she is older than me, that also means she's the one that should be betrothed to Hiccup! I ran out my parent's bedroom, only to stop in my tracks.

If she is my sister, than why didn't she recognize my parents? And most of all, why does she live on Berk? These questions made me rethink about it. If she didn't recognize her own parents, it means that she has forgotten everything about her life on Netherland? Then that means I can't just tell her she's my long lost sister; she wouldn't believe me unless I have proof! Proof...

An idea suddenly popped into my mind. I ran back to my parents bunker to grab the album. It could be my proof! When I entered, I searched the floor, but it wasn't there. As I looked, I heard crackling sounds coming from the hearth. I walked closer to it and gasped in dismay when I saw a photo of Astrid being turned to ash. When the album slipped from my fingers, it landed in the fire! The only proof I had was gone! Or is it really the only proof there is?
